  • Feeling Mom Burnout? Watch THIS!
There are so many reasons we're feeling the mom burnout.
Lack of a village, constantly ON, lack of purpose. It can be exhausting and we can spiral... quickly.
These are a few things I've found to help:
    1. Be Present
    2. Focus on what's working
    3. Think about the Mom YOU want to be!

I'm brand new at this mom thing, I've got a ten week old baby napping on my chest as I write this lol. While the transition to this new version of myself was easier than I thought it would be, the burnout and then guilt from said burnout is so so real. I could write a novel of a comment about all these revelations I'm having as a new mom, or I could just binge your videos and continue to be shocked by how unbelievably relatable you are as you say everything that's already on my mind. Thanks Shayla!

Hahahah I'm SO happy to hear that it was easier than you thought! I heard Jess Hover say once, for the mom's that had an easy transition WE NEED YOU. Don't dim your light, or join the complaining, help us see the light! lol

Hey Shayla, I love your content and love the idea of a conference. I would like to share that there is so much good in the suffering. Sometimes motherhood is dang hard, but it’s good that we endure the hardship. This is where we find growth. I think sometimes we constantly try to figure out how to make things more comfortable or focus on what we want instead of looking at what is gained in our “troubles” or how we are humbled by our current condition. Yes I think we should always strive to be better humans, but there is so much joy that can come with sacrifice. Thank you for your content, you seems so genuine and show a great deal of vulnerability with all of us! Thanks again

Ha! Hit the nail on the head. I was JUST complaining/discussing this exact mood with my partner this week. Wild. I'm gonna look into that book for inspiration, but what you said makes a lot of sense. That focus on the positive and what it would feel like to be the person you want to be. It's really helped me in the past to manifest that reality with practice. Thanks Shayla, I've watched you for a while now, I always appreciate your perspective. ❤️

This was so helpful! I am experiencing so much inner chaos as a sahm to a 11 mo and 33 mo. I do not have the village I thought I would, and like you said, I'm grieving it. I am currently trying to build my own village, and it is incredibly hard. I like your peace starts with me, because yes, our kids feed off of our energy 100%! And also, picking 1-2 things to focus on and what feels good for my family. These videos are helping me so much, please keep being real and honest!

    Hi Shayla,
I've been watching your videos from Berlin Germany, and I'd like to thank you for being so open and honest!
My husband I have a 2-year old son and often struggle managing both our jobs and parenting at the same time.
Watching your videos helped me realize that everyone experiences hardships and that parenting isn't something that needs to be perfected.
I wish you and your family all the best and look forward to seeing more from you!

So timely! I have a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a 8 month old. Both my husband and I work full-time plus I try and put out social media posts and videos about my career as a prosthetist to help other amputees. Especially lately I have definitely been feeling the burn out and feel I haven’t been able to jump right back in as quickly with this last baby as I did with the other two. Such a good reminder to be present, but also incorporate little things to make sure that the life we’re creating is sustainable. Also I totally second the gym idea. We got an indoor play gym for the kids for Christmas and it has been wonderful!

-So relatable! I have to reframe so many times as well.
-“Grow Good Humans” is one of the best shirts I’ve ever seen
    😃😀😍
-Working on creating my village, too.
-“TV” being part of the village is a funny way to say it 😆
-Yeah, while I agree TV shouldn’t be on 24/7, I do get sick of seeing “screen time” shaming and the snobbery that goes with it. It’s often wealthy people who can afford to always hire help or expensive toys that act so self righteous. OR I read moms who are afraid to use screens complain about how often their kids complain about being bored but stubbornly won’t let them having any time with technology. I’m thinking- “why do that to yourself??”
-Also, I’ve been working on staying connected to the higher realm instead of getting stuck on all of the day to day chores myself. Just this morning I posted instructions for a specific type of meditative technique in my kitchen and dining area. The kitchen especially has been a trigger area for me lately, a place I tend to get angry about cooking/cleaning 😅
Lastly, have a 9 month old and totally relate to those baby hairs in the front growing back in 😆

I watched this two days ago when I didn’t have time to really do anything cuz I was so busy with everything. I didn’t have time to give you a comment cuz my brain couldn’t even think in English😅. But for two days I have been thinking I need to write to shayla. I have been following you since I was early pregnant and you have been my big supporter without you knowing it. The last two weeks I was so busy with work and taking care of my baby and also getting enough milk supply. I was pumping and watching this video thinking I might not have enough milk for the following day. Hearing you say “ the universe got your back” I believed in it and it made everything work for me. Thanks Shay. You are really good with what doing doing. Keep doing it. I was your supporter without you knowing but now you do.

I love how relatable you are Shayla! It’s like you’re friends with all your followers and I love that. I think you’re so on the path to hosting a big conference with speakers and being a speaker yourself and going to give talks about motherhood. We all have preparation seasons and I think this is yours, especially since you’re still a mom of littles. Gain that experience, and keep those goals and work toward them (like taking public speaking courses) cuz one day I have no doubt I’ll see you giving speeches at events and hosting your own gatherings!

Here with my 13 month old I'm also thinking when I'm gonna get anything *substantial* done again and then it's like this feeling of ah but I want to have another, will I get anything done with two? We will. In our time. Also: in the meantime in between the "important"stuff (career-wise, academically) we're doing the *really* important stuff - raising tiny humans..
Love witnessing your journey and feeling you in all the things - grieving the village, navigating digital usage, struggling with childcare. Thank you for your relatability ❤️

You've been so incredibly relatable from the beginning and coming back to your content time and again is always helpful, entertaining and encouraging. I watched a couple of your more recent videos today, including this one and the relationship one, and I appreciate the realness. It's not boring, or hard to follow. I love it. My girls are exactly 3 months older than yours. I felt in a super rut around the 9 month mark. I think it's really because you are entering a new stage and now have a more mobile baby and your older one is on the cusp of preschool age at the same time. I really needed to refocus and change up our routine. Before that my little one was just an attachment, but at the 9 month mark its like "oh crap, you also have needs and need to be learning and doing things, etc.." It took me some time to come up with a good plan that fits us, and I'm always adjusting but I think I'm finally at the end of the rut. I still feel like I'm going crazy half the time though lol, so it's good to just sit in your thoughts and re-evaluate your priorities (as you pointed out).

The Gospel is my rut breaker. When I’m overwhelmed and drowning in life or frustrated to distraction with circumstances; I meditate on the Gospel. God created us and choose to love us. So much so that He sent His son to die for us to pay the price for our sins. So that our sin will no longer separate us from Him. (John 3:16, Romans 5:6-11.) When I think on this incredible reality I realize that my greatest need has already been addressed, and this frees me up to thank God instead of being anxious. (Phil 4:6-8)

Hey Girl, thank you for sharing your thoughts!!! One thing I noticend is, that you have the desire to connect with something or someone... Maybe you could try to connect with god, because he is the god who sees you and wants to reach out to all of us. I have experienced so many incredible things with him on my side and I want to encourage you to just talk to him and see what happens. Love your videos!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Barnacle Baby momma over here lol 😅 I legit just cancelled my dentist appt bc I didn’t want to leave the baby with anyone bc she just cries if she doesn’t see me for too long. Plus I’ve stopped pumping bc breastfeeding is going well but now she won’t take a bottle and my boobs aren’t used the pump anymore so ouch.
She’s 6 months old and I’m JUST about to venture out of the house with both of them on my own to meet up with another mom bc I’m tired of not seeing other humans lol

UGh I feel you on the dentist, and I promise the trip WILL be tricky, but you'll figure out things that make it easy. I have AJ climb in on Esme's side and go sit in her seat (I also bribe her with a car safe snack).
Then I get the baby, have her push to loosen her carseat and off we go!
You'll do great and you 'll leanr your own tricks!

Moms.... how do you remain mentally ok when you have no outside help? I have no support system. Not a friend, not a family member. My mom moved thousands of miles away. My husband's family are self absorbed and seem to give no craps about me, or the kids. I'm pregnant with an extremely hyper 3 year old boy and a 1 year old and I'm beyond exhausted. How do you not get so angry at your in-laws or family for not wanting to help when it's so obvious you're drowning.

I had to accept the circumstances I was in. And choose to be happy for myself. Accept that I can’t do everything bc I don’t have the support. And focus on the things I could control and how I wanted that to feel. Aka get out and do things with kids even when it’s hard.
It’s not the advice you want to hear when you’re so angry (I didn’t) but when I did I felt peace and control in my life. Sending you love.

Thank you so much! It get so hard sometimes, but it really is all about perspective and just trying to remain positive and understand that I can't control other people. Thanks for the comment! I'm subscribing! ❤@@heyshayla

I’m on holiday with my little barnacle and it’s a full time job. I didn’t even get any sun today (I’m on my own to be fair, so basically there is no time for me lol) but yeah - I am feeling this! He is worth it though. I don’t think I was parented anywhere near as selflessly as this and I make terrible life decisions and my relationships are always bad. I need praise, I pick the wrong people, I put up with all sorts. Hopefully I am growing a strong confident little man ❤

Also it’s not you, it’s TH-cam. People want fast, pointless content (TikTok) well, not everyone, I much prefer this, and good podcasts with professionals talking about how to be the best parents, and reading books, but less and less people like this stuff and most people just want clips. Please don’t stop though, the people who are watching are very grateful for your content :)
