    Did the new shaft/bearing fix the noise? I have an almost identical sound with my Macan. Dealer thinks is the shaft, I'm currently waiting for the shaft to come from Germany.

    How much does it cost to fix?

    Hi Frederik,
    thanks for sharing the video. I know it's some time ago, but could you please provide some more details on the repair? What part of the quattro drive train got new bearings?
    I have a 2012 model A6 w. quattro drive train and it's making a similar noise. I just got a new gearbox installed (including new clutch and flywheel) and the sound is still there (AUDI helped with 70% of the costs for the gearbox, but it still hurts cost wise).
    5 days ago I picked up the car from the shop and today, on my way home it started making a low-frequency griding noise from the front part of the car. I think it could be a bearing on a drive shaft that's finally giving up.
    Thanks in advance, it's really appreciated!

      As far as I know it was the bearing on the drive shaft front end (that sits in the gearbox) that was broken. I don't have the car any more so I don't have the paperwork to check it.

      @Anders Borum Hi, I also have 2012 A6 and same noise. Did you fix it? :-)

      @@TheXone7 the rough sound I experienced while driving home from Germany was a broken bearing (left side). AUDI actually came all the way to Denmark to pick up the car, gave a free loan car and returned it after fixing the bearing (great service). I got it free of charge as they suspected the bearing suffered from the repair (which I highly doubt, but again, great service). Would highly recommend AZF in Flensburg, Germany.
      As for the high pitched sound coming from coasting when the car is hot, then I suspect it's simply a result of the design of the gearbox or the diffs. I've heard this on two cars now and mine has been running without issues for 290.000 km (aside from the subtle high pitched noise, which is quickly ignored once you realize it's not of importance).

      @@andersborum9267 Hi Andreas, thanks very much for the information. I am then much more comforted that the pitch sound is OK. My car is 250k km, however mostly highway and the sound can be heard only when putting the leg down from gas pedal in high speeds. Thanks again!

    Front drive shaft(s), rear drive shaft(s) or propshaft bearing. Which one was it please?

    • @fredrikjacobsson2313
      @fredrikjacobsson2313  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bearing on the drive shaft from front diff to rear diff. Not from any of the diffs to the wheels.

      That is referred to as the centre propshaft carrier bearing.

      No need , just had my front wheel bearing done on drivers side and there was no need to remove the gear box

    • @Blaaggarding
      @Blaaggarding ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was to be the bearing on the shaft coming from the box it would have to be opened but I do not think the bearings are available to buy from Audi.
