Right, that's what it felt like, a last chance to start moving things in a slightly better direction. Agreed. Even if we can point to individual pro-worker, progressive policies Harris put forth, she wasn't proposing them within a coherent narrative that makes it easy for apolitical people devoid of values (like Rogan and his listeners) to follow. It's why Bernie can absolutely crush these programs - because the policy-specific quibbles that corporate Dems put forth are easily pushed aside when you can say "We're the richest nation in the world, we will find a way to pay for these basic goods that workers deserve" - and why Kamala struggled in 2024 just like she did in 2020. Some good ideas, but no mission, no narrative, nothing to latch onto.
The hilarious thing is that donald has started to make the republican party into his version of the democrat party... Most of his personal policies positions could be directly knocked out of a clinton press release back thirty years ago. Look at who he is building with... The republicans from reagan and bush are now basically homeless... And who he has working with him now are radicals who will do whatever he wants and ex democrats. There are times i'm pretty sure that the two parties are going to pass each other.
Democrats are afraid to be polarizing but when you're not polarizing anyone, you're not standing for anything. People are willing to vote for someone with principles even if they don't agree with them on everything.
This is a nonsense take for people who caved and voted Kamala to cling to. 95% of Dem voters don't want to fund the G- of Gaza, Dems have no problem with being polarizing there.
In a two party system, each party is inherently polarizing. Their failure to realize this was their downfall. They can't stop trying to win over imaginary groups like "moderate conservatives". I hate to dogpile on you folks but the answer to the question "Is there a way to slow their roll" No, you lost that option in 2016, SCOTUS is a 6-3 super-majority, and the federal bench is stacked so that was the ball game. Now with the Executive and Legislative branches it's peddle to the metal, but even if democrats got back both the legislative and executive branches SCOTUS can deconstruct it by themselves and are quite willing to do it. Contrary to popular belief, both political parties are NOT the same. There is only one political party that wants to be Robin hood in reverse and, for all their flaws, it's not the Democratic party either.
A right wing Rogan is the actual Rogan, obviously. He’s in a way the perfect embodiment of the trump supporter. Low information, limited knowledge of ideology and almost 100% voting on personality and instinct
Trump provides a simple excuse for people to ignore complex issues. While democracy requires effort and commitment, responding with hate comes instinctively.
When you have already lost everything, it is a good oportunity to split the party in two: centrist corpo-democrats and progresist social-democrats. Most probably Trump will not be around within 4-8 years, the Republican party will be in shambles and then people will decide for clear options.
Unfortunately they unfortunately they still think of themselves as a effective party. They forget that the democrats were once a third party candidate... And if they fail too badly they will be again.
He was eaten by his own. Killed by the “Me Too” movement. Be proud of DEI, because pride is all it’s garnered. Losing policies for electoral politics, proof being in the tasting
It’s fascinating that Sam still has his head in the sand about the woke stuff. He is among the idiotic Democrat masses who believe Kamala didn’t run on woke. He thinks she did a brilliant job avoiding the issue. He doesn’t get that if she just avoids the issue, then everything she has been known to stand for, and everything her party stands for, is rightly ascribed to her. She did nothing to distance herself from woke politics, and so she owned them. Sam’s inability to understand this, an inability he shares with so many other leftist pundits, bodes well for the right’s continuing political wins.
You notice that all of the questions are how did we lose and not how did he win? They're gonna keep getting the wrong answer if they don't start with a good question.
I wonder if it’s really possible that workers would end up pushing the Republican Party left and give up on the Democratic Party. People talk about a realignment, but it’s hard to imagine the Republicans responding to being pushed left on economic issues. Idk. It’s all so depressing. Democrats might reform themselves but they seem to be in such a hardened hierarchical system that idk how possible it is to change them.
The Republican party was taken over by Elon. It's of course him, he saw that as the weak party. They are reforming it in stages. It's what the democrat party used to be. I'm a Democrat and voted my first red ticket. MAGA hates neocons. There's this idea that things will never change. Things change. I love this reforming party and it gives me hope. I haven't changed at all. I'm still an urban activist, my kids aren't white. I lift up my community and I am busy flipping Democrat constituents red in urbania.
That’s an understatement 😂 the democratic party is absolutely over! There is literally nobody who can be their leader anymore. Bernie is unfortunately too old. Pete is too gay and Kamala is just the worst
It's true. And they are all the corporate stooges who bailed out the banks and is a Hollyweod elitist party. As an activist who helped build party, I will help now bring it down. Taken over by the wealthy. F that.
Stalling them for 2 years when they have a quadfecta is going to be really, really, really hard, especially since we haven't had a star leader since Obama, and the Dems are so divided on the issues of Gaza, Isreal, trans people, and immigration that finding an all around leader is going to be impossible. The only thing dems agree on is the economy and progressive economic solutions, which luckily IS the most important issue for median voters.
Corporate Dems and Genocide supporting Dems were the nail in the coffin for me. It didn't help that she said she wouldnt have done anything differently from Joe's policies. She should have gone to the left and not supported the right-wing framing on immigration and war. Going to the right is ridiculous! The Dems were growing the right-wing base by embracing their rhetoric. They should have delivered for the working people and been on the moral side of history. So many mistakes were made.
Within a landscape of enforced ideological conformity new ideas, and the people who support them, are crushed. Anyone who prefers to think for themselves will not be signing up
The only election related anything I listened to before Election Day was Trump on Rogan. I was disappointed that Harris didn’t go on the show. I likely would have still voted 3rd party, but I’ll never know for sure, maybe she would have swayed me. I didn’t see a single ad from either side and didn’t watch any news at all. That was her one opportunity.
Yeah I don't believe you ever were sway-able. You expect us to but I can't tell if you're strolling, self-deceiving, or think you're being slick when you are so not.
Great conversation, but I think you did not stress how much calling voters names (racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and/or fascist) because they don’t agree with the entire coalition was a MASSIVE MISTAKE. Voters are adults with nuanced ideas who can empathize with migrants here to build a better life but want to know who is in the country and for them to be here legally. Also to say crime is down when we can see with their own eyes it’s not, just shows how out of touch they are with reality. Stores are not locking up the goods they want customers to buy because it good customer service. Statistics can be used and misused. To have a crime statistic you need a conviction or plea bargain. I live in CA which was not prosecuting thefts for items totaling just under $1,000. If the DA is not going to prosecute why would a store bother to call the police & even if they did the DAs are not prosecuting the person unless it was serious enough. Does that mean there was no victim or a crime did not happen? IN A TWO PARTY SYSTEM WE NEED BOTH PARTIES TO BALANCE (NOT CANCEL) EACH OTHER OUT. Voters have seen both sides be obstructionist when the other party is in power and basically dig in and make sure nothing gets done. Voters don’t have that option at work and don’t want the politicians to do it either. We want to see compromise and real problems be addressed.
It is a shame you guys have the views you do, because when it comes to politics you are all so freakin smart, and thoughtful and analytic, all of you are very sharp. I just cannot get on board with some of what ya want to do.
Currently Hakeem Jefferies is the parties leader. To say the party is rudderless because of this worldwide rejection of incumbents (narrowest margin in the world) would demonstrate an ignorance of the current political situation. That said, the flaw in Dems strategy has been changing but not fast enough. It's not about progressive or not. It's about rejecting this oligarchy completely and embrace working people. Dems cannot survive pleasing both groups.
I agree with David. Neither Harris nor Walz gave an impression that they had conviction. It felt like they'd been tied down to lines written by others. Harris didn't build on her good showing in the debate. Walz by endeavouring to look earnest made Vance look slick and punchy.
Democrats need a core set of policies to protect the majority of Americans that aren't subject to current polls. And Democrats need to improve their messaging. They have a bad habit of not speaking to their audience from the audience's perspective. There is no real attempt to understand their audience.
It makes me think of the line in the Hamilton musical when Ham votes for Jefferson as president despite their hatred for eachother, stating, "Jefferson has beliefs, Burr has None."
The voters(double-haters) have worked out that Karmeleon and her tone-deaf campaign were EMPTY vessels that made a lot of NOISE. So we tuned them out. Nothing new to say. We’re shit but DARE you to vote for the Donald. Ok, make my day!!😂😂
The Democratic Party can rebuild under the wise and benificent leaders of your party with luminaries like George Clooney, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Barbary Streisand, and dare I say it... Taylor Swift. They're certain to lead the Party into a bright, glorious future!
Too focused on shxt that DOESN'T MATTER to a majority of people. Sorry, but issues like trans isn't an issue a majority of people are thinking about on a daily basis, yet they want to blather on about it constantly.
@zeusjukem9484 nice try they/them. Even kamala had pronouns in her bio. Dems literally plays into their playback, and gave them reason to blather on about it. Again, if Dems were smart they'd shut that shxt down immediately.
I don't think Joe Rogan is as impactful as you think. I think Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party losing was way deeper than some simple podcast. If the Dems want to be competitive again, they have to completely overhaul their party.
Aren't you all even a little bit willing to entertain the idea of breaking free from the duopoly system? Or do you think it's hopeless? If that's so, well, you truly believe you don't live in a democracy.

@@jparikh1 I'm a communist bro. Not a liberal. ☭
The match was lost 8 years ago.
Capital is the rudder.
This is depressing
Literally convinced people with immigrant family members to vote against their best interest. 🙃 well done!
An open border is clearly what they need.
@starscreamjesse2121 literally no one has advocated an open border.
This is some voodoo shit.
@@wearebecomedeathstar2658Democrats openly want open borders.
It must be extremely frustrating to think you know what is the best interest for a group of voters, just to have them tell you you’re wrong.
Contrary to popular belief, both political parties are NOT the same. There is only one political party that wants to be Robin hood in reverse and, for all their flaws, it's not the Democratic party either.
“A wildfire is NOT the same as the reckless asshole who started it and kept pouring gas on it!” Brilliant insight.
What the hell is a left-wing Rogan? What the hell is a right-wing Rogan?
A right wing Rogan is the actual Rogan, obviously. He’s in a way the perfect embodiment of the trump supporter. Low information, limited knowledge of ideology and almost 100% voting on personality and instinct
Just shows how confused they are.
Trump provides a simple excuse for people to ignore complex issues. While democracy requires effort and commitment, responding with hate comes instinctively.
To fight SO HARD to be in, believe in, and love the establishment. 😂 This assessment is fckng CRA Z!
Emma, you did very well, mate. Funny how *all* the panelists followed Piers lead in attempting to shut Emma down.
Al Franken, the much needed tv personality. Comeback awaits
He was eaten by his own. Killed by the “Me Too” movement. Be proud of DEI, because pride is all it’s garnered. Losing policies for electoral politics, proof being in the tasting
Al "sexual predator" Franken? 😂🤦🏿♂️
Rank choice voting is our only hope 💜
It’s fascinating that Sam still has his head in the sand about the woke stuff. He is among the idiotic Democrat masses who believe Kamala didn’t run on woke. He thinks she did a brilliant job avoiding the issue. He doesn’t get that if she just avoids the issue, then everything she has been known to stand for, and everything her party stands for, is rightly ascribed to her. She did nothing to distance herself from woke politics, and so she owned them. Sam’s inability to understand this, an inability he shares with so many other leftist pundits, bodes well for the right’s continuing political wins.
Why is the lady NOT participating in this discussion??? This is not the first time this has happened! Sam is too in love with his own voice!
The "lady" is called Emma. This was a segment of a much longer discussion. Also, this is Sam's show.
Plus, she is exhausted from being on Piers Morgan earlier today.
Such a good look to not bother knowing the name of the person you're trying to knight for.
I would be very concerned about historical voting patterns and algorithms. Where did that get America a mere couple of weeks ago.
You notice that all of the questions are how did we lose and not how did he win? They're gonna keep getting the wrong answer if they don't start with a good question.
Rudderless or steered by their donors? 🤬
Trump is the opposite of restoring political accountability.
Listen to voters - this isn't some big mystery.
The entire philosophy of people not being property has lost. Is there even an America if America has a Trump?
Sure is
That’s an understatement 😂 the democratic party is absolutely over!
F that.

Back to the drawing board Democrats- The US needs two functioning political parties.
The USA has one functioning uniparty.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH,
Stalling them for 2 years when they have a quadfecta is going to be really, really, really hard, especially since we haven't had a star leader since Obama, and the Dems are so divided on the issues of Gaza, Isreal, trans people, and immigration that finding an all around leader is going to be impossible.
With no strong economic principles for the people.
American style capitalism has always been its rudder.
Within a landscape of enforced ideological conformity new ideas, and the people who support them, are crushed. Anyone who prefers to think for themselves will not be signing up
"Deliverism" sure can't work if you never say a word about WHAT YOU DID. 🤦♀️
Both Emma and Sam endorsed Kamala
Isn’t the trifecta, executive, legislative, and judiciary? the Supreme Court is part of the judiciary so there is no quad?
Girl math
Two sides of the same coin.
No child
in that they are controlled-opposition who will enact GoP policies anyway
The only election related anything I listened to before Election Day was Trump on Rogan. I was disappointed that Harris didn’t go on the show. I likely would have still voted 3rd party, but I’ll never know for sure, maybe she would have swayed me. I didn’t see a single ad from either side and didn’t watch any news at all. That was her one opportunity.
Yeah I don't believe you ever were sway-able. You expect us to but I can't tell if you're strolling, self-deceiving, or think you're being slick when you are so not.
Dems will bring back finstein
As much as I am reveling in the current moment, in two or three years, we will all be talking about how the Republican Party is rudderless.
We need a true left
We want to see compromise and real problems be addressed.
they don't understand, Republican-minded people are drived by power and authority, not by fawning 🤦
She is also of Indian descent. Unless there is a political caste system why isn't her Indian descent of equal relevance?
"EVERYBODY, SHES ALSO INDIAN, JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT! CARRY ON!" every time 😂
There is no sizable block of Hindu or Indian voters …. So that part of her lineage is ignored, no upside to it. Only negatives
The indian/southasian group seems more concerned about hindu muslim tensions especially in bangladesh
Indians are much lower on the intersectional victim rankings. They do too well in society generally, they are closer to how Chinese are seen.
Imagine running a woke campaign in the movie Idiocracy?
Not Sure if that would work...
The House, the Senate, the President, the Supreme Court, the right is just too strong.
11:51, It was the Gazacide, stupid.
I agree with David. Neither Harris nor Walz gave an impression that they had conviction. It felt like they'd been tied down to lines written by others. Harris didn't build on her good showing in the debate. Walz by endeavouring to look earnest made Vance look slick and punchy.
Walz to me had full conviction, fully backed up by what he had actually accomplished in MN.
@@cassandratq9301 . state politics and national politics are different beasts. You can be effective with one and uncomfortable with the other.
We need a new 🆕 party. Like MAGA but, for the Dems🔵. Let’s give the voters something new
Democrats need a core set of policies to protect the majority of Americans that aren't subject to current polls.
And Democrats need to improve their messaging. They have a bad habit of not speaking to their audience from the audience's perspective. There is no real attempt to understand their audience.
Eh, it's not so much rudderless as the thing is jammed to starboard.
Democrats need to call more people out for being racist.
So is "none of the above", the new Senator from Nevada, going to caucus with the Democrats or Republicans?
It makes me think of the line in the Hamilton musical when Ham votes for Jefferson as president despite their hatred for eachother, stating, "Jefferson has beliefs, Burr has None."
The Democratic Party is alive and well. Why don’t you move on.
I didn't know Ken Shamrock was a lefty
A friend and and I were talking about AOC being the new face of the party- or heck, why not a new peoples party?
The Democratic Party is the Titanic.
Isn't Jon Stewart the Liberal equivalent of Joe Rogan?

Sorry, but issues like trans isn't an issue a majority of people are thinking about on a daily basis, yet they want to blather on about it constantly.
the other side is the one blathering about trans ppl tho
@zeusjukem9484 nice try they/them. Even kamala had pronouns in her bio. Dems literally plays into their playback, and gave them reason to blather on about it. Again, if Dems were smart they'd shut that shxt down immediately.
@zeusjukem9484 you do realize kamala has pronouns in her bio right?

Minnesota, not MI. But yes.
Trump pretty much solved the abortion debate because he put it in the states hands and the people voted accordingly in their home state best interest.
I don't think Joe Rogan is as impactful as you think. I think Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party losing was way deeper than some simple podcast. If the Dems want to be competitive again, they have to completely overhaul their party.
Dude this is absolutely incorrect. you can give these people what they want, and they will still vote against it
I'm becoming a real regular hate-watcher. Love the content, keep it up, don't stop.

Aren't you all even a little bit willing to entertain the idea of breaking free from the duopoly system? Or do you think it's hopeless? If that's so, well, you truly believe you don't live in a democracy.
You have to be vetted by the super wealthy to get into the Federal govt. That's what the whole system is set up to do.
