It's a 4k e shift (fauxK). It also has HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0 in higher models.
The picture does look good from a decent distance but again getting the specs right is a must for a review.

It's also worth noting that the projector is 3D capable, which is a feature that fewer projectors are launching with these days. I have the previous generation 4000 and think it's great for the features and color reproduction.

The projector says it’s output is 720p, how can I get it to project in 1080p as described? Thanks!

Question- I have the Epson 2045 and have been very happy with the picture quality. Everyone that comes over has also been very impressed with it. I’ve been considering moving up to the Epson 5050 or 6050. Looking for real feedback on anyone that has seen my unit (or similar) as well as the 5050/6050 to see if there are significant noticeable differences in picture quality that would warrant me spending a few thousand dollars. Or just stick with the 2045. Thanks

It's worth mentioning that none of the hdmi ports are hdmi 2.0b they are all 1.4 and dont support the full 18gbs so for gamers you won't be able too do 60fps 4k hdr. That was a big deal breaker for me. I ended up going with the epson home cinema 5050ub and it was definitely worth every penny.

No Audio port only via hdmi? Wouldn't work with my sound system.

I have this projector. I love it. Does not make any noise. The picture is actually a lot better with a silver/ grey screen that will bring out the colors and contrast in day light and you wouldn't even need to turn off the lights to see how good it looks. I have a 4k Samsung and 4k LG and even at 100", it still looks as good or if not better than those 2 tvs.

I just bought this projector and I've been running through all the settings for my space. At this time the projector is temporarily mounted only about 4 feet above my seating, and even that close the fan is barely noticeable even on the highest setting. Hope that helps!

Good review, this is the one I'm gonna get soon. I've seen it compared with the latest Epson, and honestly think the quality of this one looked best. Better and more realistic color saturation.

Hi! Thanks for your review. You were mentioning that you can connect the audio system to the source. How would you do that since Apple TV has only 1 hdmi port (which I would use for video). I had this problem when I bought a Benq with internal speakers and connecting my Apple TV to the projector, the sound was coming out of the internal speakers rather than the sound bar I had connected through hdmi to the projector. I am sure there is something like an hdmi splitter audio/video, but didn’t figure out yet which one to buy. So now I am looking only at purchasing something with audio optical out, but not sure what to choose from Benq, Optoma or Epson. This one you have reviewed I like the most and is not Dlp (I’ve noticed the rainbow effect on the Benq one, maybe because it was an older model), but man, Epson produce some huuuge projectors, it is almost professional size rather than home use (as I have a flat and not a mansion:). Cheers

Hey. I have this protector and have one issue that I hope you can help with. Dark scenes in this protector are not visible. It gets completely dark and I can't see anything. It becomes quite annoying especially during gaming. Any thoughts on why that is?

I watched the imagery and though you say it has this HD ,4K ETC and I believe that's what the company advertises, the ACTUAL look here is of poor resolution and dimensional contrast.
    Sorry.
I think partly BC projectors inherently have a resolution challenge and also BC higher and lower grades of 4k and HD exist per manufacturer.
