Not sure if people know this, but you can call shelters near you to see if there are any pregnant dogs to foster. If you have the time and space it really is so wonderful for them to go through their pregnancy in a home and not a shelter.

I have dreams of someday fostering shelter dogs but my biggest fear about fostering a pregnant dog is puppies dying. It was a big childhood trauma for me growing up when our dogs would have puppies sometimes. It always broke my heart if one or two didn't make it. I would still foster a preggo dog if I could despite it, but there's no way I'd leave mama and the babies alone for the first few nights. Even if it meant losing sleep lol.

She didn't "give her up", she was a foster mother. Literally taking care of her until there was a forever home for her, so she didn't have to give birth in a shelter or whatever.
@@Account-xm6vj Yeah but apartment dogs can be pretty exhausting, it’s way harder. I’ve got a Dane and she’s such a big dog that I have to literally walk for 2 hours and ontop of that take her to the park, every day.
That baby's face looking at the happy dog makes it all worthwhile. So glad she's still in the family! ❤🐶🤗

I cried seeing the loss of her puppy and then having to say Gbye even though she'll be at their Cousin's house.

Hopefully it was after the puppies weaned, otherwise mama dog could end up with severe breast infections and/or it could mess up her milk supply.

She's a foster mom, the point of fostering is to take care of the animal and get them to a healthy stage in their life and then find them a permanent home. It's a million times better than just keeping the animals in shelters where they have much harder times being adopted. Lol, let's stop making extreme assumptions about other people when you are watching such a small portion of their life through your screen.

I hear you! My first 3 were early. Of course I expected the same with my last. Nope, 10 days late! That was a looong pregnancy (over a v hot summer!) I really felt for that poor mum!

I just learned that in China, women hire post partum nannies. This lady was this pup’s post partum nanny! She got her treats and massaged her and made her day extra special, set her on a path to success 🥰
according to humane society international, china also consumes 10-20 million dogs annually...such wonderful culture, eh?!

The more well off families could also send their new moms to mommy spa hotels, where they pamper newborn and mom with round the clock nursing care. Heck, they even have chefs who create personalized meals w the most nutritious ingredients to help promote healing and recovery. It's honestly quite eye opening what kinds of luxuries China is creating for itself.
@@tempota7792 yeah, the luxury of consuming pangolines, monkeys, dogs, cats and bear bile, just to name a few, for the sake of pampering those with money. They really are setting the bar aren't they.

I am always amazed at these foster parents that are so emotionally strong that they put the needs of the animails before their needs and help these poor creatures. I wish we had more people like these.

It was so heartbreaking to see that one puppy pass like that. Baja really cared for her puppies from start to finish. Once those kids came out, her entire world was centered around them, especially that one pupper. She definitely loved with all she could, and I bet she still loves to this day. I think having a baby in her forever home was amazing for her; in a way, she got to heal those broken pieces that was left when that one puppy passed and got to love another tiny family member as she would’ve loved that puppy. Baja deserves the best. ❤️

LHM! Mama running at the end was ME, when my children FINALLY moved out 🤣. She did an amazing job bringing 9 (1 loss 😞), into the world. Now I hope she is receiving love ❤️ in abundance to replenish the love she gave…. 💯💕🥰❤️
How wonderful that you recognized that she needed some special love focused on her. She’s been working so hard for weeks now, literally giving her all for her puppies. And it looks like she really enjoyed herself (and I think you enjoyed doing it for her, too).

I remember when our pittie had a litter of 13, 1 was born dead and 1 passed during the night but the other 11 are just as happy and healthy as can be. She was and is still the happiest mama, she still gets to see most of them regularly because they were given to family and long time close friends.

What a beautiful story. What a beautiful momma dog. She lived her puppies. My Bella came from a litter of 10. She was wonderful. I loved her so much. I had to put her to sleep on June 7, 2022. She had cancer. I miss her every day. Make sure the puppies get good homes... 💖

Deep down I know I could never be a foster because after rescuing a dog or any animal I could not let it go. Thank you for saving this precious family except the 1 puppy that was so sad but thankfully the rest survived 💜 💖

That's not how it works. People sell the puppies very early because people will only want to buy cute puppies not slightly older dogs with attitude
@@wisemysticaltreeuser Surely not because of cuteness… Serious breeders give away puppies the earliest at 8 weeks old because from then a puppy begins to let go of their mother and discover themselves and their surroundings on their own. They need to start forming a bond with their human owner by then. And yes, the longer you wait, the harder it is to train a puppy your way. 8 weeks is really the minimum though. Its likelier to have an attitude if you wait too long for sure and if the breeders didnt take time to train it properly :)
