Good, fair and imo thorough review! Not used that particular tent, but have used several Decathlon tents, with very good results. Had a problem (fell off the bike and tent was damaged) and Decathlon replaced one tent and repaired another!! Still got both today and that was years ago. Atb.
Yes, don’t know why I haven’t looked at them before, good to hear of your experience…obviously not falling off the bike of course 😂 but first hand experience with there customer support is great to see!
Thank you Lucas, here’s my first look and erection of tent, might be useful 👍🏻 DECATHLON | FORCLAZ MT 500 FRESH & BLACK TENT | REVIEW th-cam.com/video/ZmRpx0gLchE/w-d-xo.html
Keep in mind, 5 yrs warranty is a limited warranty. Very little is covered like zippers n stitchings. Default ground sheet is very thin prone to cuts, so ground sheet is a must. It increases over weight tbh :(

Sorry Roy, I missed your comment… that’s a hard question to answer as I seem to have an addiction to new tents so probably the newest one I’ve bought 😂 In all seriousness I keep returning to my MSR Elixir 2 and think it’s an awesome tent for many reasons (of which I should do a follow up video) but then I’ve just bought the Elixir1 a couple of days ago and obviously much smaller pack size so what this space! once again, sorry I missed your comment 👍🏻
Nice review Andy and looks a decent tent for the cost. I am getting to the age now where I would prefer a tent I can stand up in when getting dressed in the bike gear.... any recommendations Spring to mind as I know you have tried a fair few. Always enjoy your videos and ride safe 👍🇬🇧
Thanks Darren….Although I’ve not had one, the Vango Galaxy 300 seems quite popular in the biking world, bit heavy for me but still very popular. Likewise keep safe and happy camping, spring is on its way 😃 www.vango.co.uk/gb/camping-equipment/1328-galaxy-300.html
Good day Andrew, I've started my adv motorbike camping and is look at the OEX Rabcoon II or the Decathlon Forclaz MT500. Which one would you recommend or which other budget tent in the between 100-140 pounds?
Hi Heinrich, I’m sure once you start moto camping you’ll not look back! Both good budget tents, I’ve not had an OEX tent but have heard good things about the Racoon II A further useful thing with Decathlon is that here in UK they have in store repair facilities with various tent bits available which may be quite useful if also available where you live and you have Decathlon nearby! As an alternative recommendation and not too much more than you’re budget you could get a Robens Boulder 2 tent… Danish and excellent quality and one I’ve been thinking about buying…alongside my three other Robens tents (hope my wife never reads comments 😂) Here’s a link to see one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114717789499?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tYXcaEJZSV-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=MKjvCP0rTiS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@Goprohikes I think the the MT500 and other Decathon tents are excellent value for money with very good in store support/repairs and a 5 year warranty but the Helm 2 is a better technical tent with higher HH waterproofness, slightly bigger interior, smaller pack size and has a great reputation.. difficult choice really and I’ve not owned a Helm2 but do respect Wild Country’s gear!
@@hentatiwassim3155 thanks for watching…. have a look at Decathlon website, this particular tent is discontinued however there are very similar ones available, or have a look on eBay www.decathlon.co.uk/sports/camping/tents
Hey up Andy. I've been looking for a cross hoop tent, one that will stand up without pegs. Would you say that is a good bet on a budget or would I be better off blowing the budget and getting a Vaude tent. I had one years ago and loved it but the ex binned it when we split up ☹️ ☹️ For loosing the tent, not the ex Mrs 😂

A lot of people disclaims that the poles are to long and that it's very difficult to build up, cause You have to be very strong and you don't like to break them. (Just about the poles) You have the same issues, or felt there is something wrong ? Best regards
No, poles on mine are perfectly okay..I have also seen another post about difficult poles but the secret is to make sure they have been fully pushed through as there is a chance they don’t and therefore would be difficult. Best to push through and then go to the captive side and make sure they finally go as far as possible and then no difficulty 👍🏻
For the price of one nights accommodation in a hotel with a 5 yr warranty you can t knock it, my biggest tent issue is wind noise , outside wind, how does it cope when its windy Andy?
Indeed a bit of a bargain! They independently wind test these tents on a rotating platform to 43mph, which I believe is gale force, but as yet not had chance to test in a proper storm although seems to cope well in normal windy weather. The tent can be really well strapped down and has a solid feel to it…I’ll eventually get chance to test it further but for the money and warranty a good buy 👍🏻
Just brought this and the poles seem too long and very stiff to get in so trimmed 1cm off each of the 2 lengths not the top smaller piece I used a small pipe cutter and now much easier
I’m not a big fan of white tents either, prefer the forest or olive green for my camping but with testing different tents I do occasionally pick white or grey as some people do like them 👍🏻
