Jane Addams has a high school in New York City (in the Bronx, to be exact) named for her.

In 1985 owners of building evicted me for lack of payment, rent 90 days overdue. This was a rabbit hole down which I spiralled deep, & still 37 years later am slowly, with great effort climbing out. It's good to see that others did better than I. On my worst enemies, I wouldn't wish my degree of hardship on anyone else. Seems now my purpose in life could be to help others avoid the mistakes I made, or the pitfalls into which I stumbled.

Be as proud as you like but one’s sexual orientation isn’t even among the ten most interesting things about them to me. The more one tends to tout it, the less interested I tend to become.

Ok, that’s cool, the touting isn’t for well-adjusted people like you, it’s a message to people who want others to extricate parts of themselves, and those who have been told they have to do that; that you can be whole and happy.
      That’s all.
It’s up to individuals how they personally take it, of course, but it has a reasonable and useful social purpose nonetheless.
