And it's also possible you'll need to run the older win 7 version back up instead of the win 10 or 11. Even with a scan tool, it seemed to take a while before I could figure out what was cramming that drive.

If you only have one slot and want to upgrade the one you have to higher storage, be careful. Often NVME drives are where the OS is stored, so make sure you look up how to replace your C: drive so you can transfer everything properly. Otherwise you’ll either lose your data, have to buy Windows again, and/or brick your PC
Nowadays you do not need to buy a key of windows again just by swapping disk. It is linked to your microsoft account, so when u reinstall windows it will automatically recognize your pc. I did it many times and I never had to buy windows again.

Yes and no it depends on what kind of games you'll be installing on it since there are titles where faster storage is better. Forza Horizon 5 comes to mind at first the loading screens are LONG on an HDD but with some titles it's literally irrelevant if it's saved on an SSD or not. HDD is also just good mass storage for clips and etc

With the way prices are dropping and performance is improving you will want to decide if PCIe 3 or 4 drives are better for you. Its possible a 3.0 drive with a DRAM cache is the best performance as the drive fills up. Silicon Power A80 is shockingly cheap, like $50 or 60 /1TB (do not get a60, it is dramless)
Here’s a funny story because of my stupidity I have 4 NVMe SSDs but my mobo only has 2 slots. Sure enough, searched for an adapter until I realize my mobo does not support bifurcation and my adapter has 2 slots.

Horrible advice, m.2 is a form factor and it might not support nvme. Read your manual if you wanna replace your m.2, not some internet video. Use your sata ports and buy a SSD, easier and cheaper usually. Plus added benefits are transferring old files to new pc is easier as the whole drive moves no formatting, or if your main OS drive goes.

After the top slot you should always populate the bottom slot 2nd since where you installed it now is getting blasted by the gpu hot exhaust air and hurts the nvme cooling 💀
What a waste. First of all, a lot of motherboards won't let you install a second nvme in that second m.2 slot. It either won't work, or it will limit it to sata3 speeds. It'll also end up disabling other sata ports and maybe some of the PCI slots because the platform might have a smaller limit of PCI lanes. And second, just get a sata3 drive if you want more game storage.... The difference in load times for the overwhelming majority of games and applications is gonna be imperceptible. I wouldn't take PC advice from these guys.
In my opinion everybody should try adding a few TB of mechanical storage if they can't afford more than 1 TB of SSD storage. A single terabyte fills up in a couple days once you start installing a few AAA games. Imagine quintupling your system storage for $100, in exchange for having to wait a few seconds longer when you launch a game. Best value for money IMO.

I actually had to figure out what the heck was taking up my PC's spare drive space. Turns out, it was backups.

Formating the drive does not make it visible. However adding a windows partition does.
