He really was a genius: he held his own agaist the Hokuto Shinken succesor for a while and let Kenshiro believe he was his older brother Toki , who is a beast, without even practicing Hokuto shinken in his entire life. He alone discovered pressure points that hokuto masters couldn’t discover in 2000 years of the martial art history. He surely was an interesting expression of raw talent. There is no such thing as a real genius, you are one or you are not, Amiba was certainly one seeing the self-taught feats he achieved. Just imagine if he was taught Hokuto shinken since birth like Ken. Then geniuses can have a non-stereotyped or non-morally dictated personality you know? Amiba was also cocky, that’s all, as countless real examples throughtout the human history.

What if there had been a thick wall behind Amiba? That would've been awkward. Just imagine him walking against that wall backwards until starving to death!
Actually if i remember correctly (mind you i watched the show when i was 8 or 10) ken once made a dude walk until his feets bled and he eventually died
That pressure point that blew up his hands also cauterized the wounds immediately, as no blood is seen, it also destroyed all tbr nerves in his hands, preventing him from feeling anything That's my theory6

Agreed he got what he deserved, but I still find the punishment Ken gave Jagi to be more kick ass. Specially when Jagi had bare nerves due to a certain pressure point pressed when Ken's fist pummeled him for Yuria. That arrow had to feel like a bullet going into ones... testicals if anything, and the final hit showed Jagi how brutal Ken was to the wicked. Pure Epic.
Amiba wasn't an inherently bad guy, he's just boastful at his technique that's all. I just hope he got his second chance and prove his worth in another world
Nah, he was definitely a bad guy. He did kill that lady's husband and was making people continuously be sicker or die while using them as guinea pigs all out of petty revenge in order to besmirch Toki's good name.
Actually, they have a technique in Souten no Ken which allows Hokuto users to hold their breath more than 10 minutes. They escaped a sinking ship that way by simply taking a stroll on the ground of the ocean.
I don't remember the other scenes specifically, but I just interpreted the explosion as a way of showing that he died without specifically showing what literally happened... Kind of like in Beauty and the Beast, how Gaston had skulls appear in his eyes as he fell. Of course they weren't really there, it's just a colorful way of getting the point across.

Just hit me that the way he flailed his arms about may well have implied that Amiba knew the exact pressure point to hit. Not that it would've saved him from a pissed off Ken immediately after.
To think that Amiba's downfall started when he pressed the wrong Tsubo points (on his left portion of his chest and the right side of his ribs just below the armpit) that made him overly muscular, only to end up costing his life before he knew it.
