I was watching BBC Breakfast this morning, and the chap Darcy is dancing with here said that she learned the entirety of this brilliant routine in just seven hours of practice. I think that's absolutely phenomenal.

+Dan Fennessey Just saw that the Judges are in this weekend's Pro Dance -- in the main Saturday show! (Len had knee replacement surgery only a few weeks ago -- so not sure if he's performing yet.) Should be great still!! :)
Only Shirley could really do a true demonstration. Darcey is a wonderful dancer, but you can see her lack of experience with ballroom and latin.
Bruno and Craig wouldn't have a hope in hell. Their entire repertoire of dance appears to be shimmies, thrusts and dodgy pirouettes.
Always been a HUGE Fan of Darcey Bussell!! Absolutely right.... You can see her ballet technique and moves in every single movement. AWESOME!!

@fantastischfish Good for her! and thanks for letting me know. Aside from Bussell being Darcey Bussell, there's always an unmistakeable quality that shines through in any dancer performer with a solid ballet background. Their dancing becomes even more pleasing to the eye.

There are no words to describe the perfection of Darcey Bussell and this dance, and her American Smooth was just as incredible. More than anything, I'd love to see her do an Argentine Tango with Ian, that would be amazing!!!
It really wouldn't. If there's one fault with Strictly (which I love and watch every year - including Take Two!!), it's that none of the pros, or the judges with the occasional exception of Craig, knows anything about Argentine Tango at all. Real Argentine Tango is hard, and you can't learn more than the very basic basics in a week. So they turn it into a caricature of a show tango, with comically faked ganchos and boleos, and it invariably looks dreadful. Vincent and Flavia dancing together were the closest Strictly ever got to authentic Argentine Tango. But yes, gotta love Darcey, and her jive.

She has forgotten more about dance than the dancers on Strictly will ever know in their lifetimes.

Stable Life Craig learned on the job. He hasn't, nor will he ever be a ballroom or latin dancer. I find it a bit of a farce at times criticising beginners, when he couldn't perform any of the basic technique himself to a reasonable standard.

You can if you now how it should be done. Many former dancers are able to judge or teach, even though they don't have the technical skills they used to have.
completely agree! Darcey is an amazing dancer but most things she does are very 'ballet', she knows how dance's are done and can comment in many different styles but her 'herself' is renound for being a classical dancer which she does perfectly but i have certainly seen better jives at the right pace too lol

If i were Craig Revel Horwood, I would of given the first ever 11, Darcey was stunning in every move, she was so good she took all the focus away from the male partner, although he was also very good, all the focus was on her, she really is a fantastic dancer.
She even managed the splits right at the end whilst being hoisted in the air! CLASS

Maybe, but you got to have what the french call that je nais se parquois, or something like that. Its great to watch a pro do it,it would be embarrasing if she could not dance properly and she was a judge on strictly, but the thing is they can all dance, even Bruno was in an Elton John video - I;m still standing

@savvvvvvvvvvy Jive is actually a conglomerate of dance styles and can resemble anything from hip hop to jazz ballet. It has evolved since its original conception, and the traditional and unique skipping tripple step is not found in modern jive. The performance by Darcey, which maintained its orignal rhythm structure is therefore as legitimate as any.
@avesraggiana She wasn't a contestant. She was a guest judge in the final episodes. She just wanted to have a go at a different form of dancing and did a guest performance on one of the shows.
Her range of extension is just insane, even past her professional prime.

Principal at 19! I was lucky enough to see her live a couple of times, and you can just tell even from nosebleed seats, which dancer she is. She always stood out.

@MACHAWK123 Well granted she's a former principal dancer at The Royal Ballet in England, the classical sticks especially since she trained for it her whole life.Darcey's an ex-ballerina who is well known in the ballet community.If you wanted to see this jill character, don't expect to see it if you aren't watching a video with her in it.
