I made some experiments to find out what is the axis from my Indian made test lens kit. 90 or 180?
First to just check the concept I try strong led lamp through +3.00 cylindrical lens on the white wall in darkened room and there is beautiful quite strong oval like shape on the wall. It can be turned by changing lens angle in front of lamp.
Cylindrical +0.5 there is nothing to see and even +0.75 is quite round yet.
First I find normal +4.50 lens in my frame to be OK to 85cm. Then I add mild cylindrical +1.0 which makes huge difference. That +1.00 cylinder repairs also all my cheap lenses. I really see to read my monitor text without effort for the first time in many years. But I don't know the axis yet. Then I go back to dark room and check what the cylinder lens projects on the on the white wall when I hold the lens exactly at same angle as it was very good on my test lens kit frame. On the wall I see slightly oval shape. The lamp projected oval shape on the wall is lined horizontally and
now comes the question: what is the axis angle in that situation?
90 or 180. I have assumption that my case is ATR where cornea is oval stretched vertically which must be corrected by offering horizontal oval lensing. Is that correct?
180 degrees is my current guess as correct number to put in order.....

I feel, astigmatism was presented very good in this video. It is, however treated quite differently. I feel, that some of my past opticians very afraid of prescribing "cyl" correction. I felt, something was wrong with my eyes, and I was prescribed R +1.50 / L + 1.00, no "cyl". The eyes relaxed a bit, but dictance vision became a bit blurry, and did not use these glasses permanently. After a year or so, the next optician said, we should try a "cyl" correction, and he prescribed R +1.75/ -1.00 cyl and R +1.25/-0.50 cyl. This was already better. Only 4 months later, I was prescribed R +0.75sph/-2.50cyl at 98 degrees and L +0.75/-2.50cyl at 080 degrees. The optician said, I should not give up, there might be a strange feeling or tension in the eyes during the first days, and really, it took more than 2 weeks until the eyes accepted. After 6 weeks, it was so excellent, that I don't feel now, that I'm wearing glasses, the vision is extremely sharp now, the eyes are completely relaxed. Without glasses, there is indeed not too much blur (the sphercial equivalent is near zero: +0.75 - (-2.50x0.5) = + 0.75 - 1.25 = - 0.50, but there is a kind of aching in the eyes, it hurts and irritates from the first moment. Btw I also got, with the -2.50 cyl correction for astigmatism a 5.00 base out prism correction (left eye and right eye) to avoid double vision, I had that, especially, when tired. This sounds complicated, but it is perfect. A friend of mine (he is myopica at -7.50 on both eyes) recently expressed doubt, If I would really NEED my glasses. Yes, I NEED them, when you have astigmatism, glasses are a great help!

The weird thing is that my glasses exploding reading I see things far away still and closer to degree nothings out of focus but when it comes to reading forget about it but if it’s a sign and it’s big yes I can see it but there’s a but I’ll take too long to explain, Hyperopia +8.75 add +200

Things are much smaller without my glasses +7.25 (R) +8.75 (L) add +2.00 and Strabismus from birth. The big 60 in 2023 yikes 🤪
