TRIP REPORT | Iberia Express | PARALLEL TAKEOFF !! | Madrid to Mallorca | Airbus A320

- Iberia Express trip report onboard one of their 18 Airbus A320 flying from Madrid to Mallorca airport, in the Balearic islands, with a parallel takeoff in Madrid!
During summer, all airports get more traffic but this especially applies to Mallorca airport. If during winter there are not more than 30-40 flights per day, during summer you won't see anything less than 100.
Something similar occurs in Terminal 4 at Madrid airport. Iberia and Iberia Express (together with Air Nostrum) have several routes only operated during the summer aviation season. In this video, you'll see the Terminal 4 completely full. Really nice to see the airports so crowded!

The parallel takeoff was brilliant! luckily I was able to record it fine. The plane wasn't so close, so with the zoom, it could be shaking a lot. Luckily i was fine :)

Son bastante comunes en Madrid, pues las pistas operan de forma independiente, cada una con su propia torre de control. En este caso, dio la casualidad de que el despegue fue completamente a la vez.

Actually, I have a flight already booked on the Iberia A340-600. The flight is in approximately 2 weeks and I will be reviewing the premium economy from London to Madrid.
I don't know if I told you already, but I will tell you anyway, so you'll know what to expect in the next weeks: I will be flying tomorrow the Air Europa B787 to Copenhagen and, on Sunday, the Turkish Airlines A330, for the first time. (CPH-IST-VIE)
Tomorrow, Saturday, we'll have the first Thomas Cook trip report, also for the first time.

Also, to maintain this kind of "relationship" with viewers helps me a lot to understand which aspects of the videos you like and which ones you don't. For example, showing the destinations of the planes was an idea of a viewer. And then, a few months after it, another guy said that it could be interesting to tell the distance to that place, so the situational awareness would increase a lot, etc

Pues de cara al viajero, practicamente nada. Quizás es una aerolínea un pelín menos formal que Iberia (en el trato cara a cara, me refiero), pero el producto es exactamente el mismo.
El tema es que Iberia Express tiene una estructura de costes más eficiente para volar ciertas rutas, que le permite competir en el mercado de las low-cost, mientras mantiene un cierto standard que alguien que ha comprado un billete con Iberia puede esperar.

Very cool! To me it happened twice. Once in CDG I was in A318 taking off from 09R and B777-300ER from 08L. I've notices it only when airborne because tou don't see 08L because of the terminal building. Another time in HND where it is also blocked by terminal building but through 1 taxiway I've seen ANA B767-300ER taking off from 16L at the same time as my QTR A350-900 16R. It was back in times QTR used to fly to HND, now only Japanese airlines fly there.
It's quite common at big airport. Since this time, it happened to me once more.
I'm looking forward to make a trip to Asia, including Japan, Singapore, Malasia... Hopefully soon! I think those Trip Reports would be really interesting for the channel :))
@@OnBoardHD Yes it is but to me through my entire life it happened only twice. I fly relatively often, not as often as you of coarse - 23 flights in 2021 but still only 2 times. Exactly parallel like this one are very rare to have some additional separation but is very common for airports with big regional traffic, like Haneda or Atlanta. They are just crazy.

Where do you catch the bus at terminal 1 for terminal 4? Amanda and i will be coming in on Delta. Have to claim our bags then head to Terminal 4 for Iberia Express to Tenerife.
The transit bus is free and runs almost every 5-10 minutes. The stop is always in the front of the terminal. Green bus.

Tengo una duda,en madrid estabais a 3 puertas del avion y os hacen bajar cojer autobus y subir por la parte trasera teniendo finger el avion pero no acoplado,no lo entiendo.

El motivo fue que el avión estaba aparcado en una puerta no-Schengen, es decir, que si quisiésemos llegar a esa puerta por dentro de la terminal, necesitaríamos pasar un control de pasaportes, cosa que no hay que hacer volando dentro del espacio Schengen.
El motivo por el cual ese avión estaba ahí y no en una puerta normal puede deberse a:
· Que el avión vino de un destino Non-Schengen, como el Reino Unido, por ejemplo.
· O simplemente que no había más estacionamientos disponibles, pues en verano todos sabemos lo mucho que se llena todo.

¿Qué le pasó a la puerta delantera del airbus A320? ¿Por Qué no la abren?
Estábamos aparcados en una puerta no-Schengen, por eso fuimos en autobús.
Pues la verdad es que no se por qué no abrieron la puerta delantera... Después sí lo hicieron, pero no en un principio. Tal vez la tripulación de cabina estaba terminando alguna tarea en la parte delantera.

Te lo he dicho! Los pasajeros de este vuelo NO podrían haber llegado a esa puerta de embarque por dentro de la terminal!
Que antiguo ese airbus A320 de iberia express.
Puede ser antiguo, pero mientras el mantenimiento sea bueno, el avión es tan seguro como cualquiera recién salido de fábrica. Otra cosa ya es el consumo y esas cosas... cuando más viejo es el avión, más aerodinámico deja de ser, por lo que el consumo va subiendo muy poquito a poco. Es imperceptible, pero en una flota grande que haga miles de vuelos al año puede llegar a tener un pequeño impacto económico. No obstante, como ya he dicho, son seguros como los recién salidos de fábrica.

Tan sólo necesitas la matrícula del mismo y buscar el avión con dicho registro en la web Airlinefleets.

The plane was parked at a gate with an air bridge. Do you know why you still had to take a bus to board the plane? 🤷🤷🤷
that's cheaper for the airline, it's the budget department of Iberia. Budget airlines use the bus very often and prefer not to use the air bridge.
The reason is that the plane was on a Non-Schegen gate, so we could not reach the gate from the terminal, as we should have gone through the passport control.

Correct. That corner of Terminal 4 is for non-Schengen flights, usually just for flying to the UK.
British Airways uses terminal 4S instead of those gates because almost all their connecting passengers are flying on the Iberia South-American routes, which are departing from Terminal 4S.

How do you know where each plane goes?
Basically with FlightRadar24 app replay function. But also with the airport information screens and then checking on the terminal map which airplane was going to every place. Is not an easy task to do in big airports like Madrid, but it gives a lot more info to the video and viewers like it :)

En Mallorca, en verano, te garantizo que no te autorizan a una aproximación visual jeje
Lo cierto es que los descensos iniciales suelen ser bastante pronunciados, especialmente si control aéreo te mantiene a nivel de crucero un poco más de lo que el avión calcula como punto de descenso óptimo.

Hacer una visual en Mallorca en verano es una locura, salvo que la planifique muy muy bien. Solo he visto que autoricen a ILS no visuales...
