There are few exceptions of course but imo there's nothing wrong with this point of view, this is just how it works for sportsmen and their teams

Taking a sabbatical at 30, as Lauda did, is very different to taking a sabbatical in your late 30's as Michael Schumacher did. Schumacher wasn't the same when he returned, so I think it would be a big mistake for Hamilton to take time out of F1.

Both really started to go on the decline by their 6 championship and it was just a slow decline after both got their 7th. I have to say I kind of agree? LH said that he wanted a break.
Well right now is the best time to take a long break from F1. It’s not a car he can win a championship with even if it improves.
So if you’re going to take a break at anytime, now is the time to do it. Come back fresh and ready to go for the new season and a lot more motivated than if he sticks at merc for the rest of the season.
Sure a small PR may happen, but I would expect more excitement at whoever fills Hamiltons seat for the rest of the season. How well that driver does.

The thing people don’t realize is Mercedes can’t even develop over the course of a season anymore. Something they’ve been extremely successful at in previous regs.
They have zero clue in the fundamental issues behind this car and what’s funny is the same problems that we are seeing they are saying they are learning lol. You have a new car concept where new problems should be coming up. Instead they are trying to learn the same problems that’s been plaguing them for the last three years 😂.
The best this car can fight for is P6-P10 in race trim. Sure than can qualifying anywhere in the top 10 because it’s close in qualifying but the real speed of that car always shows in the race. Qualifying is not where the points are gained bro lol.
You can have the best qualifying car but if you don’t even have the race pace and overall balance across multiple sessions that’s more constructors money you’ll lose over the season.
Told people Mercedes will finish 5th this season. Lewis doesn’t care about his head to heads this year and qualifying against George. It’s championship or bust for him. He doesn’t go to sleep thinking about beating his teammate.
He wants to be in the fight to be competitive that’s it. Be in the fight. Just be there to COMPETE.

LH is not competent in dealing with adversity and the really great drivers are exactly strong there, adversity. I was always told, "If you are good at the difficult unpleasant stuff, imagone how good you will be at the stuff you really like". LH is drowning in this unpleasant stuff and his voice "carries a gravitas" no-one needs, least of all, MB. He is just too used to "Lewis gets what Lewis wants". He leaves at Suzuka and it then free to SIM drive for Ferrari until next year and give them the feedback he wants. If LH wants to be in the same league as Alonso, he needs to start behaving like it and open his trap only when he has something constructive (F1 related, not political ideology) to say.

Look, most drivers don't make it to F1. Of those extremely lucky ones that do, most don't win races much. Of those that win races, even less win a championship. Of those that win a championship, *hardly any* win multiple world championships.
This is the downside of acheiving truly great success in sport. When things inevitably wind down, for some it becomes impossible to simply enjoy how far you've made it and what you've achieved. They want *more*. One gets the impression that the sky is falling with Hamilton in his interviews, body language, radio calls etc.
Life could be worse. He's a world famous F1 driver with hundreds of milllions of dollars and massive celebrity, legions of raptorous supporters and friends and admirers. He's literally been knighted. He's one of the most fortunate people on earth. Life could be worse.
So he's finishing 7th or 8th instead of 1st right now? It happens! He's getting older. I don't recall Schumacher moping his way miserably through his final years at Mercedes. I think he recognised that even though he wasn't winning races and championships anymore, he was still a pretty fortunate guy racing super fast guys, enjoyinh his life.
I think Hamilton needs to temper his expectations, do his best and just try to enjoy his last racing years while he's in an F1car. Maybe he'll do better at Ferrari, maybe he won't, but nothing lasts forever.

    • @SaintKimbo
      @SaintKimbo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well said, no matter how much talent he's got, at 39 years of age, there's no way that he will put it on the line as much as a Guy in his early 20's will, it's just the way it goes, but Hamilton and his fans just can't seem to accept it it.
George has proven that fact, both this season and last season, sure George is not as consistent, but that's what happens when you push it to the limits, and beyond, as opposed to just getting it home to the finish.
Hamilton at 39 and about 95% of his abilities, will beat a lot of Guys with consistency and experience, but not the top 3 or 4 young, hungry and fearless, regardless of the car.

It’s honestly so hilarious. He wanted to prove he was better than the car and it failed horribly. It’s a combination of things. For one, Hamilton lost his competitive advantage he had for a decade and needed to adapt. Second, he wasn’t ready to adapt. He never had to adapt before and wanted to blame the team… however, his teammate is doing well with adapting to the car…. So it’s clear that Lewis either isn’t a good driver overall or he is not a good driver that can adapt to a new machine. One has to exists based on the results. It’s just funny how Hamilton could have saved his legacy if he never allowed a bad car to be in his resume. The fact a bad car entered the resume and his teammate is doing well makes it even worse.

Same with losing to him nowadays. However Max is catching up, and he knows he will probably be the one who can stop him getting more wins and titles. He is focused on that. As opposed to most drivers in F1 who haven't achieved much. Beating their teammate adds to their success because they have no titles or many wins.

It's not as tragic with Hamilton as he himself, Mercedes and the media make it sound. He had a race winning car for the first 16 years in F1, and now since last year, he has a podium capable car. Every driver will have to drive shitty cars at one point of their F1 career, most often at the start. And a podium capable car isn't even a shitty car, Hamilton doesn't even know what that is. Just ask Hulkenberg how his F1 cars have been, or ask Russell about his first car(s), or Verstappen, or Leclerc or Alonso for his list of shitty ones.
