BM&R 425 on the Perkiomen Branch - Pennsburg to Emmaus - October 15, 1989

Blue Mountain & Reading 425 running on the ex-Reading Company Perkiomen branch. Trains ran from East Pennsburg to Emmaus, PA. (3:23) - returning thru Dillinger Tunnel. As always, dad's video, my (35mm) title photo.

Well its not a R&N line anymore it was sold off so its probably going to stay just a memory

Nice I rode and chased these trips they were alot of fun. Especially at Powder Valley by the old water tank base when she was climing the grade.

Same one thats been on 2102 all yr in 2022 its from a Reading G1 pacific

It sounds different because the 425 runs on 215 psi. The 2102 is 240 psi. That changes the volume and pitch of a whistle.

@@dannye5335 Charlie Kachel also had a lazier lighter hand on the whistle than Shane does unless he was in one of his whistling moods then that was a completely different matter. Especially if there were pretty women around. Then he would really go to town on it.

Thanks for posting this if you have more please share it. I would love to see the 2102 run this line again. It's very doubtful it will happen. I talked to the manager of the line and he said when they ran the diesel excursion in 2009 some of the spectators were disrespecting people's property and getting into fights. He also said this line is not up to spec. for passenger service.
