    Excellent video. Just bought this machine…my first Janome. Always purchased Brother and have 2 Sewers & a dedicated Embroidery machine. Snap on feet (low shank) means they are interchangeable between the makes I believe.
    You can use the extra spool to wind bobbin without unthreading the machine which is very handy.

    Thank you for the video it has been so helpful, Just bought this machine and I am a complete elderly beginner. Really pleased with what I have used so far. I chose this machine in part because my eyesight is odd to say the least and the machine comes with magnifying lenses which have made everything so much easier for me. Great machine

      I am so glad the video has been helpful. It's a great machine and yes the magnifying lenses are great, several strengths and easy to use. Enjoy the machine! Feel free to share what you make! I would love to see it. Lucy

      How exciting! Get to know your machine and just in case, here is my video about how to thread it! th-cam.com/video/vq7FHXFRl_Y/w-d-xo.html It easier to watch how to do it, rather than try to figure it out using the pictures in the manual alone. Happy sewing

    Thank you! I'm looking for a new machine as my ancient Bernina is beyond economical repair, and find the range of machines bewildering. Your demo has been really helpful, and shown me this is the right one for me. Looking forward to seeing your projects that you've done on this.

    Thank you for the informative video. I had narrowed my choice of sewing machines down to 3 and was finding it difficult to decide. I think this is the model I'm going to buy.

    Thank you Lucy! I found this video extremely useful, and bought this model yesterday, as an "upgrade" to my Janome xc33 - so far I haven't been brave enough to take it out of the box though :)

      Be brave! Study the instructions and it all becomes second nature quite quickly. Try a project out. And enjoy. I am glad the video was helpful. Keep watching.

    I have the Janome 4300 QDC, which is the predecessor to the 5270. Brilliant machine and has most of the features you are talking about here, of course. One thing I noticed you saying, was that you thought the 5270 is the first of this series to have letters. I have to say, the 4300 has these letters too, although they may have been upgraded on the 5270. As I say, fantastic machines. Love my 4300. The 5270 will be even better ;)

    Thank you for this wonderful review of the machine. I am looking to upgrade myself and thought I was going to have to go for an atelier range model to get the alphabet! You've convinced me I don't! I shall be on the hunt for one of these in the morning. Wishing you well.

    • @Sciart
      @Sciart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am really glad it was helpful and that you enjoyed it. I shall be doing more on that model, so do keep watching. For me it was the first machine at a reasonable price that can do lettering. You dial into the machine panel and away you go! I always practice first to make sure I haven't any spelling mistakes! Thank you

      @@Sciart I got my new "baby" yesterday, and after reading the instruction manual I had a go threading the machine and then did a few practice stitches before jumping in and continuing the bag I am making. It sews like a dream! So quiet compared to my old one, and the thread cutter function! I'm a fan 😆
      I look forward to the future videos, be safe and well, and as its December, have a wonderful Christmas and New year.

    I found this really useful. Thank You. I do have a question. I do bag making and card making. I can see that this would be great for my card making and baby gifts, but how thick a fabric can this sew through?

    • @Sciart
      @Sciart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, you know, I'm not sure how thick it can go. QDC stands for Quilting Decor Couture, and in my view the machine is pretty robust for standard house decor such as curtains and dressmaking and such. I suspect that it is not just the thickness that is important but also the type of material is also important. I've not tested it on leather for instance. I would recommend asking the suppliers for their view, or Janome to find out which of their machines are heavy duty. And I know that they do some with high presser foot clearance. You might explore this link.

      I hope that helps. Lucy

      Hello, thank you for your lovely comments and questions. At the time of filming (Aug 2020) it was the latest in that range of computerised machines. What made it interesting to me was the fact that I could do lettering. Always remembering that computerised in this context means the machine is computerised, it does not link to a computer to take patterns that you design, you dial them in on the control panel. And at the price I was more than happy with that. Yes, I am filming a piece now and should be on line soon. Thank you

    'you can add an extra holder on the top' - more explanation please ? Also you dont mention the tension - is it automatic ?

    • @Sciart
      @Sciart  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, the machine comes with a spare spool holder. You can spot the hole in which to push the holder into at time 4mins 51seconds in the video. It is on the top, and is next to the bobbin holder. The tension is not automatic, you can set it with dials, and the manual gives information about suggested settings. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching. Do stay tuned. Lucy

    Hi, I enjoyed the video. It was really helpful. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me please if you could? I just purchased one and I'm a little confused about the hard cover that comes with it. Is it supposed to sit on top of it wobbly? It's only because all the other machines I've had in the past click in place so it easy to protect, life and transport. I've tried looking online for help and advice with no luck and I remembered watching your video so I thought I would ask. I hope you don't mind. It would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Xx

    • @Sciart
      @Sciart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, That's a really interesting question. I didn't get back to you straight away, since I asked the question of Janome. It was not something that I had thought about, since I don't tend to travel about with the machine. I would find the cover wobbly too, if I did. They said that they do it this way, so that you are actually holding the machine, not a cover which is held together by a couple of hinges. Whilst they were functional they were always concerned that you could be left holding just the cover. Apparently they do a carry bag (SMB1), but I've not actually tried it myself. It's probably worth a look, if you are going to be transporting it regularly. It is a great machine. I hope that helps. Lucy

    Infelizmente Janome 52770 QDC é uma máquina indisponível. Os comerciantes não o têm há muito tempo e nem sabem se será em um mês ou em um ano. Sou da República Eslovaca e, embora estejamos na UE, não há máquina em lado nenhum. Encontrei uma máquina de costura
    Irmão Innov-Is A150 design adequado a um preço razoável, mas eu não conheço essa marca. Você tem alguma experiência com máquinas Brother?

    • @Sciart
      @Sciart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, thank you for your question. We are living in very strange times! It is a problem if you are unable to select the sewing machine you want. I have checked my normal sources of supply and they are not doing international deliveries from the UK. I have heard of Brother, but I have not used a Brother machine. I have been told they are also very good machines. Perhaps if someone else reading this, can help if they see this discussion, they can help to advise. Lucy

      @@Sciart Oui, vous avez raison - une période étrange et cruelle. Les puissances de ce monde peuvent le faire, et nous l'avons permis..🥲. L'importateur agréé Janome m'a écrit pour nos états qu'il y a un problème d'approvisionnement quelles que soient les restrictions envisagées. Je viendrai chez Janome, mais ce modèle 5270 n'y sera pas. J'ai déjà trouvé un modèle Brother intéressant. Brother est également une marque japonaise depuis 1928 - j'ai été surpris. Je ne connais que les imprimantes à jet d'encre Brother. Mais je ne sais toujours pas si je dois le commander. Merci pour votre réponse vidéo et très belle voix et visage.❤👏
