Hey Family! I just want to reiterate that I’m not trying to bash anyone, or ruin music for you. This experience just taught me a piece of who I want to be. So I wanted to share that w you all! I appreciate you all so much! Thank you for rocking w me! 🖤🤘🏻
to be honest, my brother got the same impression of them when he met them so it might've been an isolated pair of incidents and I don't know them personally so I won't/can't pass judgement. It broke his heart too because he was also abused by his father (we have different fathers) and owned every single album and played them nightly (I know because we shared a room and I still hear it even as a grown adult). Love ya bro and keep doing what you're doing because you do make a difference.
Thanks for getting the word out about how life really is. I’d rather people know the real trauma, fears, and heartbreak ahead of time with good advice to prepare for it. Then face it with nothing and potentially spiral out cuz of it. Keep ‘em coming bro, one love🖤🙏🏼
I met Brian “Head” Welch at the Grammys while doing Security at the Grammys and I thanked him for sharing his story about how he found Jesus and was able to quit drugs. I was totally inspired by it and he was very humble and said “ Thank you I appreciate that” he asked my name and that was that. I’ll never forget that moment as long as I live
He's also the one who quit the band lol. He was their sound. Nobody ever makes the comparison but he was like the evolution of what The Smiths started.
I met Johnathan Davis outside of a concert in Montana. He was running late for his set and the tour manager was rushing him. Me and my brother politely asked for an autograph and the manager was in a hurry but Johnathan said no problem I gotta warm my voice up quick and I will catch you on my way back in. True to his word he did. He had no idea whether we even had tickets. Great memory. Would suck to have bad experience meeting someone you like. But the fact is they are human too. Battling there own issues.
Ronnie james dio was amazing, probably the best singer and song writer of all time in my opinion, and such a nice and humble guy. It's so sad he passed
i never dug his vocals that much (i much prefer a growlier voice in metal, which i don't listen to a lot of to begin with), but every interview i ever read or saw, he always seemed very cool. that he said that doesn't surprise me. the best entertainers are those who remember that they're creating great memories for their audience.
I was big into baseball, I was a huge fan of Ken Griffey Jr. My Dad let me cut class for a spring training game. I chased down Ken's foul ball. In spring training the guys who already made the team usually leave after the 4th inning. I saw ken leaving the field, so I ran over to where they fence off away for them to get to their clubhouse. It was me, a couple reporters and camera men. They asked a couple questions and right before stairs to the doors I aske him Mr.Griffey may I please have your autograph? It's your foul ball from your first at bat! I'm a huge fan, please? He said, My autograph is worth money son. I don't just give it away. Just before the door closed a camera guy chimed in, hey Ken your a prick! Instantly made my day. Never quite fan boy'd over anybody again.
If it helps and it might not because the damage is done, but! The NFL, MLB, NBA and the NHL have signed contracts to their athletes on when they can and cannot give autographs because they built a empire (money) on sports memorabilia which to me IMO is stupid but it affects the worth so they don't allow them to sign autographs. Most SMART Athletes will get around it like use a certain colored marker or pen that isn't part of the contract or they'll sign it to somebody that's a nobody so it won't affect the market for example they'll put "thanks for being a fan billy, griffy" reason why cuz now u can't sell it because who da faq is billy? So assuming ken griffy Jr was just entering the MLB cuz he hit a foul ball 😂 maybe he didn't know how to explain it like most young dumb athletes. But then again maybe he was just being a A$$🕳️ I just hope it was a misunderstanding 😂❤
By all accounts young Griffey was extremely arrogant and not the best teammate. He was already a superstar in highschool. If it makes you feel better by all accounts again he got much better and much more laid back as he matured after a few seasons. Still sucks you caught prick Griffey
I'm from Boston mass and worked with a guy for almost 10 years that went to hs with sully from Godsmack... One day after work we (construction crew) were hanging out after work when Sully called him and w Anted to get together. He came to our site to meet up with him and hung out with all of us for about 20/25 minutes. Sully was one of the MOST genuine humans I ever met. You would never know you were in the presence of a world famous showman. obviously we were all praising Godsmack but he kinda just shrugged it off like it was just a job and then would give us praise for doing the "real work". An experience ill never forget. So humble, so grounded... I think he kinda envied us normal joes.bgreat dude
Wow, I have the opposite experience with Sully. Every time he came into the club I worked at he was such a dick. Depressive and rude to people trying to talk to him. No one really cared who he was and not everyone knew he was in a famous band. He was just some jerk at the bar.
@@veggiequeen2738 maybe the bar you worked at was full of douchebahgs lol. Everyone else here says sully is cool af and nice to everyone then someone named veggiequeen says he is a dick. Why do I get the sense that maybe your just a vegan hater lol
Coolest band was Mushroomhead. I had emailed them about how their music had helped me through the loss of my firstborn daughter. They hooked me up with Tickets, t-shirts, CDs, and all of them of and the other bands signed one of the t-shirts! this is why Mushroomhead, Bobaflex and Crossbreed will always have a spot in my playlist . . .
Met Korn at family values They were the dopest ever So polite and this was after they played a full set and they took every second they could give us. Nothing but good vibes. Must have been one of them days is all...
10 seconds is all it would take to shake that boy’s hand. It was probably his dream to meet them. Hope that kid gets the empathy and support he deserves.
These bands go through hell and work hard.. oh no they did not shake a hand.. the world is burning now.. oh no. I would not want to shake loud mouths hand for sure.
You just brought back a whole day to my memory (age drugs and strokes have scrambled many) I was a kid with my family at the Circus in Tuckerton NJ. A celebrity was there with his kids. Everyone was scrambling after him calling him by his CHARECTERS name. I made it through the crowd and almost caught up to him, but his legs were longer than mine. He was smiling but not stoping for the fans yelling "JOHN BOY" I called out "MR THOMAS CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH " he stopped he talked with me and he signed my coloring book from the circus. He told me it was because i respected HIM he was going to respect me.
I met KoRn on the 2016 "Return of the Dreads" tour they co-headlined with Rob Zombie. They were really fucking awesome to me. I had only been sober about 4 weeks and was still fresh out of rehab. Brian (Head) and Jon were cool as fuck to me. We talked about sobriety, recovery and music. You said your experience was in their hay-day so maybe it was due to that whole super-ego trip of fame and attention...who knows. I did meet a lead singer back in the 90's from a band I love that was a complete d*ckhead then...but when I met him again in 2014 I told him about it and he apologized to me, hugged me and said "I was bad to a lot of people back then...the dope had a lot to do with it but that's no excuse. Thanks for giving me a second chance." I know I was a complete pr*ck before I sobered up...even when I wasn't wasted. Time has a way of working on us all you know? Glad you're using your second chance on life making cool TH-cam vids and not riding in the car piping for the big house crew. Take care.
My brother was a violent prick when he was high, good as gold when he was sober. He lost his fight, but it always makes me happy to read about someone that won theirs. Congrats on your sobriety.
Much respect to you brother for what you do. I'm a recovery coach also, shot junk for 25 yrs and Ive been clean for 27 yrs. Spent time in 4 of our finer prisons and survived. I'm 70 yrs old now and this is the best part of my life. Love you brother.
❤❤❤ I love comments like that. Similar story, but I have been clean for 17years and used for 22.. i remember a time when I Could Not imagine "life" clean. It terrified me.. Now?? I can't imagine LIFE messed up.
JD, thank you for being you. You're positivity gets me through. I'm 7 years sober from alcohol where I was an alcoholic that only I knew about but it was destructive. Last year I started having kidney issues and now I'm going through chemo for cancer. I watch your videos to get my through the depression that comes with it.
Tampa Florida here! That is awesome you do recovery coach work, I have my degree in Addictions Counseling and it’s awesome when you get to see our brothers and sisters coming back to life! Anyway, keep being awesome in this lifetime! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Too cool, bro. I am a 100% honorably discharged and disabled veteran. Before all that, I was a bouncer and did personal executive protection. I have been very close to many very famous people, whom almost always showed me there is no humanity left inside the shell of who they were before. Even those that came from the ghetto or from dirt farms to the top of fame were little less than narcissistic scum who refuse the humblest request of acknowledgment such as an autograph or touch of the hand. But it's people like you who give me hope for the future. We must NEVER forget that we are one! Our simplest actions often cause great pleasure or tremendous despair to others. The same energy I give to you, I will receive back. Never forget where you came from. Never lose the humility you had at the worse points in your life. And never treat those less than you with anything less than kindness. Big love.
As an old stagehand, I'm wholly with you on the newly-famous narcissistic idjits that treat people like chattel. Dad was a combat vet and musician that counted Sinatra, Hope, Crosby, and Harry James as friends. He taught me that respect was earned. Talent does not automatically confer respect. Case in point: Circa 1969-70 we set up show for Gracie Slick. She was trippin' and tried to fight us... she got a bum's rush out the stage door and onto the loading dock.
I did some bouncing and worked in live sound production in everything in Miami from small bars and clubs up to the AAA arena My experiences with famous people was 50/50. Big music artists and artists who think they're big tend to suck, smaller-scene famous acts tend to be cooler. Context matters too, but some of em are just straight up terrible people to be around.
@@travismcgreat3823 Interesting you'd mention that... Dad played trumpet and arranged music for Big Bands like Harry James, Paul Whiteman Orchestra, Bix Beiderbecke, Benny Goodman ...but he said he much preferred touring with small bands because they were so much fun.
So you're disabled and make money from the govt yet you were strong enough to be a bouncer and mentally clear enough to be executive level security? Tax dollars well spent
I can speak for how meeting your favorite artist and getting a good reaction can make a huge difference in your life, my favorite band for years has been ICP, the first time I met them, I was 15 and I was able to go up on stage, during Faygo Armageddon, I was right next to Shaggy and he looked right into my eyes and threw his arm over my shoulder like a father would, we both stood there spraying Faygo over the crowd and screaming the song, it was an amazing experience and the look that he gave me changed my whole life, I felt like no one understood me, and in his eyes I could see that he did
I am not a fan of ICP but dated someone breifly who was. I went to a show with him. We did a meet and greet with ICP, Twiztid, and Blaze before the show. They were honestly incredible people, especially Twiztid. So down to earth and cool.
As an artist who opened for plenty of musicians I grew up on .. the ones I really just wanted to show love too were the worst and really I wish they flexed harder cause I need a reason to promote beating their a55 lol
This breaks my heart. I don't know why this popped up randomly in my suggestions but.....I loved Korn ☹ this is totally heartbreaking. How could he laugh at that??? Gross. I appreciate you telling your story. You're correct. It's a grimy thing to do.
A couple of decades ago, I rented a room from a friend of mine who was in a small local band called Slack. The lead singer, Dave, was amazing!! His stage presence, how he knew how to work a crowd, and Dave NEVER forgot a name. Slack didn’t last for very long, so Dave went on to singing for a new band that better fit his persona. That little band that he joined quickly became well known, but Dave never changed despite the fame. Who was the new band? Drowning Pool. We miss you Dave! RIP.
Drowning pool was at camp lejeune hanging out with marines when i was stationed there. I lived above the wounded warrior barracks so i assume they were there to see them. This was the new drowning pool though i think it was 2008? I almost asked them to sign my dashboard confessional cd cause i didnt have any of theirs lol
Way to go buddy ! I'm sober 3 decades. Never regretted a second of it. If I hadn't got sober then, I wouldn't have lived to see my kids grow ul, and now I'm watching my grandkids growing up. I got to be in their lives daily when they were babies, I've got to see the amazing humans they are. I never would have lived long enough to even see my kids grow up, if I didn't quit. Haven't relapsed once.🙏 It's hard in the beginning, but you've done the hardest part. You're worth it. 😊❤🇨🇦
Funny, had the opposite experience as a fan with JD on several occasions. First was NAMM show 2012 (was 16 at the time), stood in line for 7 hours and some random rich kids in a group of 20+ cut in front about 45 minutes before and then of course lied to the band saying they waited there for hours and how they're huge fans. First person I had gotten to meet was JD and he apologized saying they tried for a half an hour to get them removed and the convention center was not doing their job. He offered me to come around and take photos with him/the band. Still treasure those photos to this day. Second, at the time he was also debuting his JDevil alter-ego, and I got to meet him again at the DJ Booth the next day(forgot which one it was, just remember walking by and seeing his name on their timelist). He recognized me from the night before and gave me a copy of Path of Totality album signed, Korn picks, and a few PoT shirts, one signed. Of course got another snapshot with him as his alter-ego and thus began my Korn collection. Moving forward I have seen them live 54 times now, when and where I can I get the backstage/bonus bundles usually landing me an opportunity to "meet" them again. Prior to covid, they were all able to recognize me and knew me by my name which was an epic feeling with them being my idols. Last few years I have changed a lot and wouldn't put it past them if they didn't recognize me now. Last time that I will mention, was very personal and made me love the guy for who he is. I had lost my girlfriend due to drugs (was murdered and I found her, fucked me up long story short), and my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer followed up with my step dad leaving her to have kids with another woman and leave my mom/us to rot. This was 2016 and the Serenity of Suffering album just came out. I was able to see a glimmer of light in the dark abyss I was surrounded by and I sprinted in that direction instead of letting the depression take me. I felt like every single song on that album spoke directly to me on what I was going through and it really fucking helped with coping. I wrote Jonathan a letter never imagining it was going to make it to him to create my own peace of mind and close that chapter of my life. Came October, and for my birthday someone gifted me tickets for Aftershock. Basic tickets, but I will never turn down a good show especially with Korn on the roster. I get to the ticket thing and the lady noticed my birthday and asked if I would like either a drinking band giving me free drinks for both nights or "The Mystery Box". I am more of a cannabis guy myself, and thought maybe it's some merch or something and went with the mystery box. Wound up being an upgrade to VIP as well as backstage access. The nerd in me kicked in and I immediately thought about what if I could run into JD and give him that letter, and if there is any time, now would be the time. I paid a random worker $20 to print my letter for me (wasn't an offered service, just found a random guy that I felt had access to a printer). As I am walking out of the little office area I saw Ray waiting to get some food. The god-sent of a drummer was more than happy to take my letter to JD, and there was a part of me that accepted that he probably didn't give it to him ultimately. That show after their intro when JD is greeting everyone, he made a mention about my mother and dedicated the show to her and told everyone to send her all the love. January of 2017 (3 months after the show) my mom overcame cancer and still to this day is free from cancer. I am not saying JD cured my mom, but I do believe in mass meditation and the proven results behind it. And by him having that many people at the same time put some sort of positivity towards her situation is way better than a small letter back with his condolences. I will note that there is a large year gap between the years your story and mine take place, and he and the band had well cleaned up as well as had their reality checks of "falling" and rising back through the ashes. I also come from a family of musicians and I have a "decent" way of approaching someone I highly look up to instead of coming off over bearing. Not excusing what had happened with you/that kid, but if he was intoxicated by any means, going off the stories they all talk about, I can imagine him being a full blown asshole even to a fan unfortunately. They all said, including JD, that he would become a huge asshole to certain people for absolutely no reason and had no remorse about it until he sobered up. Fieldy has been known for having a drinking problem so much that he currently left the band so it wasn't so largely accessible to him and that he can work on himself. As well as Twisted Transistor makes fun of him being a heavy drinker doing asshole things. Again not dismissing what happened, but people do change. Alcohol doesn't only bring out the worst in people, but it creates a space for a demon to form and manifest causing people to do things they would never do sober. With all that said, I would never want to meet my idol and have them say that either, would be beyond crushing and possibly even a deal breaker on life if I was in an abusive lifestyle such as that kids.
Dude I was just about to say a similar thing. I met Korn a couple times in 2021. I told them similar stuff about what their music means to me and how important it is I’m my life. The whole time they were all very nice guys. I have 2 nephews, currently age 10 and age 6, but were age 8 and age 4 at the time I met Korn, and they are also big Korn fans, especially my younger nephew. I know they wish they were able to meet them as well, but were not able to, so I told my nephews if there was anything they wanted me to ask or tell Korn when I met them, then I would. So what we ended up doing was me giving them a brief little intro of my nephews nephews individually, then telling them was their favorite Korn song was + whatever question or just general statement they wanted to me to tell them. The pic I showed them on my younger nephew was him on this first day of school (4K, not kindergarten) when he was 4, and he was holding up a poster board, like a sort of cute, child-friendly project thing with light-hearted stuff about him like his age and name and favorite _this_ and favorite _that _ types of things. The last thing on it said “some things that I love:”. What he had on there was the Pokémon logo and the Korn logo. 😂 They were all appreciative of it, in sort of like an innocent and wholesome way. And Munky in particular, he especially was impressed by it. And Jonathan actually seemed a little pleasantly surprised when I told them his favorite Korn song was Evolution. Seeing as how that’s a very uncommon and out of the ordinary song to have as your favorite Korn song. And then I met them again, they all remembered me on sight. They were calling me by my name and stuff and it was all just felt really surreal to me, like them remembering me and all that… When you’re a massive fan of someone, it’s always kinda depressing when you are reminded of the reality that they don’t even know you exist. But when you are fortunate enough to not be in that category anymore and are not just another faceless fan, and you can say they actually do know that you exist… like I said, it just feels really surreal.
I've seen a lot of your videos, I'm also from Northern California and Southern Oregon. I was very close to your situation but ended up in the Army instead of prison. Thanks for being a good voice out there. Love you you man.
In the fourth grade I met Bon Jovi. Our whole elementary got to write our favorite musicians. I obviously wrote to Bon Jovi about how my mom told me since 1st grade I came home, went to the TV and waited till Livin on a Prayer or You Give Love a Bad Name. Somehow the letter not only made it to them, they mailed me concert tickets in my state and two backstage passes. In the letter it told us as soon as we heard Dead or Alive to make our way to the back stage. They came to the back and walked right past me. Turns out he was just going to wipe off his sweat and change. I'm telling you that dude did a concert and still he constantly kept his focus on me having fun, with my mom of course in tow. He's the most charismatic person I've ever met. He asked me my favorite song of his and why. I can't adequately explain how awesome he was to me and mom. It was the coolest thing of elementary school life.
My friend and classmate who died our 6th grade year from Leukemia chose to meet Bon Jovi for his make a wish. This was 91. He flew my friend and his mom out to stay the weekend with him. They went to a Giants game and watched from the sidelines. 91 was the year Bon Jovi snuck onto the sidelines for the first game. Then, after being caught, they made him a "photographer," and he spent the rest of the season on the sideline. That was also the year the Giants won the Super Bowl. Bon Jovi kept in contact til the end. When my friend passed away he even attended the funeral. So im with you and wont tolerate any bad mouthing of Bon Jovi.
@@bradsanders407 damn that's a touching story. Sorry about your friend as well. And yes I'll never let people bash Bon Jovi and not defend him. Thanks for sharing that story brother.
Working a booth in Sears at Christmas in 1985. We sold Swarovski Crystal during the holidays. At one point this group of guys with long hair came up to the booth to look at stuff. One of the guys got fixated on an 80mm crystal ball we had. That one was over $100 back then. He wanted it for his girlfriend for a present. He tried to tell me there was a tiny scratch on the ball and was angling for a discount (which I couldn't give). The blonde in the long, red duster coat looked at him and said "Are you kidding me? You're going to quibble with the girl over that? You've got the bucks, just pay for it!!" So, I sold the ball, wrapped it up, and they left into the mall. Three girls came running up and said "Did you talk to them? Where did they go?" Uh...."who?" "Those guys, Bon Jovi." I had no clue, and I asked "are they famous or something?" and got told they were the best rock band on the planet. Oh, okay. I went home and asked my (now ex) husband and his brother about what a Bon Jovi was. They said the same thing, a great band. I told them I met them and sold one of them a crystal ball. I got yelled at for not asking for tickets to the concert!! But I do know who they are and what they sing. :)
@@charlayned best to just treat them like regular people. They get tired of being put on a pedestal all the time. I met Davy Jones while working in the mall in Santa Barbara. He was super down to earth and chill. Very nice guy out shopping with his daughter and X wife. 👍👍
Big hugs fer ya JD! I played in a band from 1990-95 until I joined the Marine Corps after our drummer O'D on coke and meth. We opened up for COC, which we were long time friends with and about to get signed to their label., until the devastation of losing our drummer. I had kids come up to me and constantly tell me my guitar riffs and our songs saved their lives and gave them joy and hope. That was the best feeling ever to know how my music made a difference in someone's life. I could never imagine not acknowledging ANYONE that approached me with that kind of emotion. I never liked Korn anyway, from a different generation. Their shit all sounded the same. I met the great Ronnie James Dio once, class act all the way. Was really interested in talking to me and listened to everything I had to say. Had beers and smoke, just like an everyday normal dude. Never ever will forget that, God rest his soul.
That’s an upsetting story to hear about Korn. I do know back in the day when they were on drugs and alcohol they were really big assholes. Luckily it seems they have matured and are much kinder to their fans now. I mean head and fieldy even go pray with and for fans after shows now. Getting sober was the best thing for that band because they were all on very dark paths in the late 90’s- early 2000’s
While I don't really care for the newer stuff, I respect that they came out of this "game" alive and well, and are making the music they want, instead of just what makes money.
@@richardcochrun3869 Thier 3rd album had stinkers for sure but it's just being edgy for the sake of edginess to say albums like Issues or Untouchables or the 3 most recent aren't good.
Been watching awhile, decided to sub. I've been doing SF/F conventions since 1979. I've met great folks who were famous, some were great, others were the s..ts. Most were fantastic. I was young back then, about 22 and I met this author. I looked up to him, he had about 5 novels in print at that time I I had read a couple of them. He was teaching a class in writing and he was critiquing work we submitted. I went in and when it came time to do the critiques, I sat through him encouraging so many people, then he came to me. "You should never, ever, try to write fiction. You are horrible at it, this was garbage, and you have better uses of your time than trying to make something you're not good at." It crushed my soul. And I let that bastard live rent free in my head for a couple of decades. I did a lot of non-fiction stuff, wrote technical manuals for Compaq for a while, and I dreamed of having a novel written with my name on it. In 2013 I decided to give it another try. And I published it. I've got a few big fans who love the thing (now working on book 6). I love doing it. And when I go to signings and conventions, I always tell people to try it if that's their passion. Find a good editor to help you and listen to their feedback. But never, ever, let someone tell you that you shouldn't do it. If the first draft is bad, well, write a second. Fix the issues, and get it re-edited. But never give up. I wish I could go back to that author and say "You know what, I did it, I"m doing it, and it's good. So here's the copy of book one, autographed, and you can read it and know I did it in spite of your words way back in the early 1980s." But, he died in the early 2000s. And I"m glad he gave me that shove off the cliff, I worked to prove him wrong. And somewhere up on a cloud, he's seeing it.
I appreciate you man. I've met several celebrities over time, and the majority of them were assholes. It made me appreciate the real ones that much more. Keep it up brother, you're killing it!
I've seen Korn multiple times and got to meet them about 4 or 5 years ago, and they were really nice. Jon and Head were especially cool. They all used to be on drugs and alcohol so I can imagine they were completely different in their younger years. They matured a lot over time, so I wouldn't hold it against them.
I met Korn in '95, when they opened for Megadeth. They couldn't have been any cooler. After their set, they came out amongst the fans in the crowd and watched Megadeth with the rest of us.
Saw Megadeth/Korn Santa Monica Civic CA. Aug. 1995. Metallica/Korn Forum CA. Dec. 1996. Hanged with Korn at Tuna Town, Silvera's, Rockbar, 2nd Floor in HB they seem cool.
@@SoCal_619 I will defend that band till death. Created an entire style and they got the shaft for it from both metal fans and alt grunge fans for not being metal. They are not metal and they even said they are not metal.
Good for you, JD, for telling that story. It gives you the "ick" feeling. I think you are so successful in your sobriety because of " gratitude" snd your positive outlook. Love that story!❤✌️
Me too 😢all I can think of is that song where he (Johnathan) breaks down about being SA'ed by a family member or someone close to the family i think 🤔. I believe he was actually hard R'ed and his mom let it happen, if I remember correctly. I really really really hope and pray that that was not what that kid meant about shared experiences uggggghhhhhh I'm physically hurting right now just thinking about it. I have a 4 month old son, my first living child (lost my daughter at 31 weeks pregnant feb '23) and I already have such strong feelings about how I would react if someone even says something to hurt his feelings. He is going to have trouble walking so it's pretty inevitable unfortunately. Some kids are lil a$$ holes sometimes and I'm just not sure how I'm going to react.
@@Iraqwarvet23 Don't you think someone like Michael Knowles, or Candace Owens, or Keanu Reeves, (just the first 3 that come to my mind) would be perfectly acceptable"heroes"? I 100% believe or society has a major problem with idolizing celebrities. I think we can enjoy someone's art or business savvy or whatever it may be without idolizing them. Usually once I learn something personal about a celebrity who I admire, I'm quickly turned off. I try not to follow them on social media, or follow them in any other way other than new projects of theirs.
JD, you’re a shining light of goodness and compassion that this country needs. Thank you for your service to those who struggle- I’m sure you’ve changed and saved many lives with your coaching. Godspeed.
Not related to this video but you and your channel as a whole; I love the positivity you spread and the information about being convicted, especially about how hard it is for us to get back on track once out. I had a difficult time getting off of drugs after I got out, finding a job that paid well or even getting a place to live. Through sheer willpower I managed to scrape myself out of that life, fast forward 5 years and I’m working as an EMT providing lifesaving care to people every day. I always take my chance to speak with people I see on that path we used to be on and let them know, you can find a way out
Thank you for sharing your story! It is absolutely AMAZING what you do! Thank YOU for being willing to reach out to someone in need, even if your words are not heard! I’m positive that some times they ARE heard❣️
JD you’re the man I appreciate your channel and everything that you stand for.. Coming from a former convict, I never got back in that revolving door. I’ve been out 23 years and busted my ass to make sure I never see those six by nines again but your channels taken away the stigma and unfair stereotype that convicts get keep doing your thing brother you definitely have my support
Thank you for sharing that, 100%. I am/ was a HUGE Korn fan back in the day. I've seen them 4 times, but man, that was a shitty thing to do. I am an abuse survivor, my birth mother did 5 years for trying to kill me and my father got custody... he was faaarrrr worse. I'm grown now, 40 years old and I carry mail. I try my best to be humble and one thing that I carry with me from my early formative years is that I am incredibly protective of the little guy/ girl. Much love, and thank you again.
I'm really sorry to read of what you went through - you deserved better. Sadly, whilst every child deserves parents, not every parent deserves a child. I hope you've been able to get the support you need(ed) to work through things and I hope that life's treating you well now. For what it's worth, I think your comment says a lot about your character. Having empathy and humility are some of the best traits a person can have. Doesn't sound like you were taught them by your parents - I'm guessing it was left to you to guide yourself onto the right path. If that's the case, I hope you're proud of yourself, because that is one hell of an achievement. To have the odds stacked against you, fight them all, and still manage to become an awesome and kind person? That shows incredible strength, conviction, character, decency, and off-the-charts emotional intelligence. Fair play to you! Huge respect 💕👍
That happened to me and got pointed at AND laughed at by a band for traveling over 3,000 miles to see them AND BROKE MY HEART!!!...... #12. BUT YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION!!! I HAVE BEEN THROUGH 30 YEARS OF DRUG ADDICTION AND WHOLE LIFE DISABLED been broke for over 3 years living on mom and things are looking up!!! Been clean 5 years from hard opiates working a program and just want to say thank you!!!
Man, I teared up a little listening to you because you and my cousin Chunky are SO much alike (appearance, build, speech, personality, volume). We were cousins but raised as brothers so we called each other "Brocuz" He died of an overdose in Feb 2022 and you remind me of him so much.
Sorry for your loss. It's crazy because I've literally only met 1 person in my life who called himself "chunky" and he even had it tatted on his forearm. We used to work together and haven't been able to get ahold of him since.
Lost prophets was my jam back in the day, their music got me through a lot and when I found out about the lead singer I gathered up all those CDs and used them for practice on the gun range.
@@tmorelli1982 He was convicted of multiple child sex crimes and is currently in prison..... I'll spare you any more details; his name is Ian Watkins, you can look up the nasty shit he did for yourself. But he got off very lightly, if you ask me....
I'm a big fan of yours and I appreciate you for bringing to light about these sickos. I am a 50 something year old woman who's been affected by people like that most of my life even as recent as 6 months ago.So it's good to have someone finally bring their atrocities to the out in the open. God bless you for what you do. Blessings on everything for you
I went to a KoRn concert, because they are my favorite band and Jonothan, Munky, Head, Fieldy, and Ray were all the nicest guys you could ever talk to, i never have met any band as nice and chill as KoRn
KoRn are actually some really amazing dudes who went through the same struggle with sobriety as all of us who've struggled. I wouldn't judge about something from that long ago homie! JD got sober in 98 and has talked about how rude he was when he was drinking. Just an off night I'm sure.
Exactly. Funny how the uploader guy responds to comments shitting on Korn, doesn't interact with anyone defending them, but wants to pretend in the pinned comment he isn't trying to shit on any bands. Sure.
@@Xeroforte Yo, everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is his. There is no right or wrong. My dude had an experience that soured him to the band and chose to stop supporting them, pretty logical.
I have met everyone in KoRn several times throughout the 20+ years I've listened to them and have never had a bad interaction. But I do also remember that '96 was a rough year for KoRn, and the height of their meth and alcohol addiction. JD has said numerous times on Deuces that he was an angry drunk too. Whatever the reason he had for waving the fan away, I don't hold against him given how long ago it was and how he acts now.
@@kidkold7242 Yeah but you know, intoxication basically shuts most of your brain down. People do the stupidest shit when they are intoxicated because the whole thinking before doing thing does not work.
I also did not excuse it. I said I won't hold it against him. He was an angry 20 something year old. He's not the same dude anymore. Also, given how crazy fans can act, I do not blame him either. Lest we forget what has happened to people such as John Lennon or Dimebag from fans??
Schwildown has also mellowed out over the years, and (to a lesser extent but worth mention) as have RompRob, Fumby, Tank, Slam-Pickle, Dim Tim and Sharknuts
I just found this channel today. Worked TDCJ in the 00s and only just now having a chance to reflect on some of it. I was in my 20s when I worked there, and I'm only just now realizing that the fact that my brain and all of my appendages functioning properly is a testament to the patience and maturity of hardened felons that made the conscious choice not to make me learn some lessons the hard way. I can't emphasize enough how much the non-toxic aspects of my masculinity came from convicts that made the conscious decision not to make people like me a target.
Bro much love! I have been a Maggot for Slipknot since Ozzfest 99, I listened to them when I was deployed, they saved me a lot in my life. This video touched home big time. An you always make me and everyone else feel like family. I love this community!
JD reminds me of more than one of my old drinking buddies. Cool people to hang out with. Just don't hang out for too long unless you're willing to get into a fist fight for reasons that neither one of you will remember. Good times.
You're the man JD. I would definitely consider myself as a fan of yours. Not just for how great of a story teller you are, but for the type of person you are. Stay awesome brother
@@JdDelay5150 I don't blame you As a fellow musician and music student I always promised that I would treat my fans as a community. What they fail to see is once you become famous you have a golden ticket to make a difference... It doesn't matter....we all have bad days But you making not only a fan but a friend can brighten your day
I met Fieldy at a Korn concert in a small venue in the Netherlands, while I was handing out flyers for a different concert at the entrance. We spoke in length about our past and future in music and he really appreciated I just spoke to him as just another dude. I really appreciated he took 15 minutes out of his night to just have a chat with a fan. Great lad. Great sense of humor too.
I feel so sorry for the kid who wanted to shake Jonathan’s hand and tell him how much his music meant for him but eventually dismissed him.😢 If I were that kid, I would’ve been disheartened to get such a response from one of my favorite bands. The poor kid must have had thrown away all of his Korn merchandises after he returned home from the concert. However, I guess maybe Jonathan wasn’t in the mood to greet any fans that day…we’ll never know.
Yea but when s guy makes it past security and tells you that your music helped him keep it togather after losing a child that shit deserves your attention. This is not a fan meet and greet and signing . It's 1 guy actually thanking you and telling you that you make a difference in people's lives. . I say give that man a beer and invite him to grab some catering and hang with ya in the green room and watch the show from side stage
I learned as an adult that my favorite songs by korn are depressing. It really opened my eyes that lyrics matter and what you listen to has an impact on your life.
Gotta take lyrics with a grain of salt and not so seriously. I loved Alice In Chains, but if I took their lyrics that seriously I'd have slit my wrists years ago.
The way I look at it, back at that time in 96, the band was drinking and doing drugs. It makes sense that they wouldn't want a kid around that. I think now a days, it wouldn't be like that, because the band is sober. Fieldy is taking a break right now and working on being sober. To be fair, yes. Maybe Jon should have let the kid shake his hand. But when you think about it, it can go from a hand shake to a potential hug or even begging to hang out. You know how kids are. Ask yourself this, if you were drunk and on drugs, would you want to be around a kid and expose them to that?
I hope that kid is okay. Considering how much that kid suffered in his life and then this happened to him. This could easily push a suffering young kid over the edge
Never seen your show before but just wanted to say that I’m proud you were able to overcome the rough times yoj went through. You seem like an amazing person. Good job man! Keep it up
Awesome story bro! I too was a metal musician and hung with the group of signed and touring bands at TVT in the early 2000's era. Was so many small town bands and good dudes in the music scene then. But really, what I remember most of, was the bummer interactions with the people that were just ....shitty. They stick out to me to this day and they continue to affect you in some profound way. Like you, those instances have shaped me also. So i guess they do serve a purpose for dudes like us, but that ego.... such a fragile thing. People have a hard time with humility when attention is given. Thanks again for the awesome tale. Be well and God bless ya dude.
LostProphets got me thru my Afghanistan Deployment and were huge in Germany when I was stationed there in early 2000s. Their first two albums were amazing. Absolutely blew my mind when word came out about the lead singer.
@Harry Toeface I still listen to the album The Fake Sound of Progress here and there. But knowing Ian Watkins still gets royalties from the albums- even though he's in prison- does bother me a bit. That sick fuck is still playing his games of control from prison from what I read a while back.
Yeah i ran into Ian at Warped Tour in 2012 just randomly and I was starstruck. He was about to go on stage and he gave me a hug and even invited me come stand backstage while they played. Looking back, I'm glad I turned down the offer because I was trying to find my friends when i was walking around and just so happen to see him in my travels.
JD.... keep doing it right. We had a very similar life. In metal bands (lead singer).... no didn't have LSD (lead singer disorder).... got my GED at 33 years old, didn't do as much time but.... 56 years old now, own 2 houses... rent one $ in the bank, married 32 years, four kids... it CAN be done. I did it, you did it. Blessings to all that are trying hard to keep straight and do right ❤!
this absolutely broke me because im a huge fan of Korn. i mean- i haven't been a fan for decades like most of the people in here, but i love them enough to explain a bit of their history and this story broke my heart. they had a real bad drinking problem and stuff and usually alcohol makes you do stupid shit like that, but it still hurt imagining Jon doing something like that.
Ditto on the fan side, I can't comment on how the drugs/alcohol etc played into anything and I don't know them, but it's a shitty thing that happened because people very few people can say they've never been an asshole. (Basically I watched the video to make sure there weren't any CHOMO events to worry about, that would kill it for me)
@@totallyfine69 Hmm 🤔 let's just not bring up adidas..That line just erk me someone sexually abused ....included that in his song....just seemed like he was going to repeat the cycle. Korn is my favorite band to see live. I am 38, and I have loved them since they came out in the mid 90's. I even have a half sleeve Korn tattoo on my left arm. This video doesn't make me dislike Korn..it just reminds me of the famous saying "Don't ever meet your heroes" It can lead to a lot of disappointment. Love your videos, JD. Much respect. Much love. I was a heroin addict for years, so I love what you are putting out here.
Yeah but this was the early start, they all talked about the drugs and alcohol they did and the mistakes they made. I’m sure the Jonathan now wouldn’t do that.
I was at one point somewhat close to Queensrÿche. Started with a few meet and greets, then hung out with Whip and Eddie back at the hotel. Geoff Tate called me when I was dying in the hospital. He has never been anything but very kind to me personally, but it really hurt to see how dirty he treated the rest of the band, and eventually, even some fans. By contrast, Todd La Torre is one of the most sweet and humble people you could ever meet. You really just never know with people. Life takes us all in strange directions sometimes.
I totally respect you for being able to see the hurt in that kid & to know famous or not, no one deserves to be treated like such. Also, I personally would love to hear more stories of you meeting bands or famous folks!
Thanks JD! I appreciate you telling the truth about anyone who “made it big” and possibly lost the humbleness and appreciation for who helped them reach their goals. It hurts me more to know that they touched someone’s life, so dramatically, and couldn’t show even a little love for them. Made me really sad.😢
I’m sorry that this story evoked negative emotion for you. I really tried to Cabot off at the end with positivity and love. I needed this video so much at the moment you wouldn't believe. I had a bigtime musician of my favourite band tried to take advantage of me in a drunken state in 2012. I actually foolishly left my drink in his presence. I asked my ex to cock block because I was experiencing hallucinations despite only drinking gin and tonics. Anyway, he invited me to the casino for more drinks and gambling (but has a hotel room). I was a bit out of it periodically which is something I never experienced before, but I was also lucid at other times. I asked him dead straight if I was being breadcrumbed to his bed, and he's like "pfft😮 No, of course not, I am just having a good time tonight, and I'd love you to come." I said to get to the casino would be half of everything I have and I was willing to say goodnight there, but he insisted he would shout more drinks and we'd have a good time. Anyway, the cab was too full and me and my ex hopped in the next cab and we went to the Treasury Casino. When we arrived at the front of the casino, he stormed toward me in an agitated state and got real up in my face, which was a little intimidating because he's like 6'4" and had a total personality shift "oh so you're stalking me now? " he shouted in front of other people. This was very confusing as he was behaviour was the opposite. I called him out. He ended up ditching the group of people he dragged to the casino, not just me. Whether it was the drinks or something else, I don't know, but my mood spiralled and I am just lucky my ex was there to keep me safe. I don't know for sure if my drink was spiked. But my symptoms aligned with an ecstatic seizure or md-a type drug and my mood dipped to dangerous to myself. Despite this, I continued to support the band. But recently (a few days ago), after I saw his actual account drop by my Instagram, a follower of mine who was friends of his dropped me and unfollowed. The fact that he is still doing underhanded shit like that all these years later despite me continuing to love and support the music was definitely hurtful. I would have loved to continue loving and supporting the band.
Okay, I've actually heard Jonathan Davis mention this before. In an old, off-the-wall podcast he said he gets that from teens saying he saved their lives ALL. THE. TIME. He struggled for a long with this pressure actually, but around the time KoRn started spiraling with drugs, alcohol, band fights, and disputes over money in the late 90s-early 2000s, he began seeing counselors at drug rehab centers who told him he has to take a step back and take care of himself first. To not let the public's demands or roar of the crowd determine the quality of his life. So he did just that. He said he learned to start sticking up for himself and taking time and space whenever he needs it. It's a good bet this was one of those occasions he was referring to because to both you, and the teenager, this was a dickhead move. But to Jonathan Davis, it was years of bombardment by fans with requests.
I met KoRn in Cincinnati back in 2010 on the Rockstar energy drink festival tour. For me, the best moment was when I said "you guys rule" and Fieldy looked up at me and smiled.
Jd, dude I watch your channel daily because of the passion you bring to the message being presented. This particular message resonated because I used to do a lot private security during concerts. I never have been able to understand why some of these bands forget WHO support them.
I used to work at pine knob in Michigan. I worked 3 korn concerts there. They were always nice and respectful. They signed tons of stuff for me. My brother has CP and i told them he was a fan. They made a video for me to send my brother. I never heard a bad thing said about them by any of the staff. Sucks you witnessed this. I will always listen to korn because of the experience I had with them.
The fact that the security guard had to react and actually restrain him while he was approaching J.D tells me a lot about how crazy that fan probably was. Jonathan has always come across as a very kind, selfless man in my opinion. If anything the dude is too nice.
I met them in 2004 but was a guest of Zakk Wylde. And when youre with Ozzy or his band they dont tend to disrespect you. But I treat people equally. I used to hang with Pantera a lot and it was such a great time. Those boys were just metal fans that became famous and always treated their fans right. Good times!!!
I met Brian Head Welch at his book signing back in 2009...dude was so chill with me! Asked my name, how's my Family, looked at my Korn tattoos, showed me his...took multiple pictures with me and my family when it was only supposed to be one picture per person. Signed both my cd and book no extra charge.
I would LOVE to see more videos about your experiences in the music industry! Im a huge metal head, and am completely obsessed with the genre and going to shows. But, I dont go out of the way to meet my idols. If they were nasty to me or anything Id be completely crushed, so I just live in the fantasy that they are all amazing people 😂😂😂
Well said, I feel the same way. However, if I were to happen to run into one of them in public I feel like I might talk to them then, because it would be a cool, random occurrence. I'm not going to dish out money to stand in line and meet them and talk for 20 seconds.
@@jennie6258 According to their lead singer, Jonathan Davis & myself Korn are not a metal band...or a "nu metal" band...Korn are just a straight up hard rock band. I'm a HUGE Korn fan and honestly more of a rock fan overall than metal...
@@yourlucidnightmare7213 I know, I agree. I don't even personally believe Korn is a metal band...If anything, I'm a metalhead because I listen to Megadeth, Pantera, Down, Rush, Pro-Pain, and Black Sabbath. I'm more of a hard-rock/alternative rock fan than I am a metal fan.
Man this would have crushed teenage me. I still love Korn but they were my everything as far as music goes in highschool. For any Korn fans curious, I read on Kornspace(lol) back in the day that ever since Dimebag died, JD has a phobia of being killed by one of his fans. Especially with how obsessive some Korn fans get, its always kept him wary of the really personal meet and greets. I've never met the guy so I can't say one way or another. I've heard from multiple people that Ray, Munky and Head are an absolute joy to be around. Ray in particular has been very good about remembering where he came from and how much he struggled to get to where he is. Munky is super humble and Head is apparently endless energy. Almost everyone has a bad experience with Fieldy unless its a Stillwell meet and greet. Dude's been over Korn for forever
You think he will leave the band? I’ve heard he’s had a serious drinking problem and the guys in korn wont tolerate it but some of the guys in Stillwell enable him. I haven’t kept up with Korn over the last 8-10 years or so, last album I bought was the path of totality, so I have no idea what they’ve been up to.
Ray is the real deal good guy. He says he doesn’t see himself as a rockstar, he just happens to hang out with rockstars. I’ve been to many of his clinics before he blew up with korn. He’s a beast of a drummer too
Thanks for what you do JD. You've given me a lot of hope and entertainment. Im homeless, hungry, hurting and looking for help.. I always keep it in mind that someone has it worse than me. I know I have a chance
Man I love this. I've met a few of my heroes, and 99% of time they give as much love as they can in the situation. What a shame he had to be so shitty to that poor kid.
I look at it differently. Imagine chilling in your room and some guy comes running at you full speed being chased by security. My adrenaline would be ramped up with fight or flight and it would be hard to go from angry/afraid of an attacker to instant forgiveness and love. It takes people a while to go from one extreme to another and I don’t think it’s fair to expect someone to show love to a perceived threat in the heat of the moment.
Absolute horse shit, This isnt on the street its backstage as a band, Also in 96 now everyone was on their jocks so to be like this is lame. I met and hung with him in 97 ish and he was a coold guy came back a year later when they blew up and he was so far up his own ass it was unreal.
I own a company called I.R.A.T.E, and I met the guys in KoRn on their 20th anniversary show for the OG album…..Fieldy is one of the coolest, nicest dudes in rock. Jonathan was cool too. Fieldy was such a good dude, that he rocked some gear on stage that night. We all have our good and bad nights, and I’m sure Jonathan has some wild stories of people coming up to him, because his art resonates with so many on such a deeper level. I’m bummed that, that kid had to have that type of experience meeting him. Sounds like you and him had an unspoken moment, where you made eye contact….and it bothered you enough, to not stay for the show. I guess it’s true, that they say you shouldn’t meet your hero’s. But then again….sometimes, its everything you thought it would be, and more. 🤷🏼♂️…. (On a side note, meeting the band, I thought that Head was gonna be the coolest out of everyone, and he was actually a bit of a douche…sooo who knows. James, was the coolest out of everyone. Kind, and willing to take time to have a genuine conversation). Still one of my fav bands of all time.
I completely agree with you. I was a huge Korn Fan but now wow. You changed my perspective on them. I can imagine how that kid must of felt. I actually have stopped listening to artist for certain reasons like that. Im def glad i ran into this video of yours. Btw he's not yelling he's speaking loudly to get his point across..
Man that’s disappointing to hear. I’d hope if JD and Fieldy heard this story today they’d feel some amount of guilt and shame for how they acted. It was almost 30 years ago and I can only imagine they’ve matured since then.
I’ve seen Korn a number of times and the only member I managed to actually have a full on conversation with was head. He was very down to earth, funny enough I had saw him perform in modesto ca not to long after he had departed Korn and he played 3 songs and left the stage, apparently he was having a meltdown. Lol well to summit up I mentioned to him that I was at that show and he was very apologetic about the fact that he had a meltdown in Modesto and he wrote a song about it. That song is featured in one of his solo albums.
Feel so bad for that kid man. Stories like this are why I've always been too afraid to meet Buzzo and Dale from the Melvins, I've had the opportunity like 5 times and passed every time because I think it would be every bit as devastating for me for all the same reasons and I'm a grown ass man. Met the dudes from Big Business though and holy shit are they the two coolest most down to earth chill people.
My neighbor works with plenty of musicians. His brother used to do stage managing work with Cypress Hill. My neighbor himself works closely with the Misfits. They used to do a radio show/ podcast thing out of their living room years ago on Saturday nights. I would always go over there to party and it was always dope to see what musicians were there. I think the most memorable moment was running into Chino from the Deftones. I guess Steven was there to do the radio show and Chino came along. Chino came outside and asked me for a cigarette. We had a beer together and talked for about a cool 20 minutes about random shit. All the while I’m not even really sure how to process I’m having a beer with Chino. He was so humble and the chillest dude ever. When he was done with his cigarette, he went inside. Little while later, he popped back out to talk some more. I will always remember that. Dope night.
I have met and hung out back stage with Korn a few times and their great guys. My friend was the guitarist in Rob Halfords band "Fight" and toured with Korn. He ended up being real good friends with them so when Korn came to town my friend asked me to go. When we went to pick up the backstage passes there were only two passes instead of three. So my friend left me and my girlfriend in the lobby after a few minutes I saw him walking towards us and who was he with Jonathan Davis. Jonathan apologized for the mix up and we spent the night hanging with them backstage and watching their show from the side of the stage. After that everytime they came to town I was a welcomed guest backstage. Eating their food drinking their liquor. Over the years I have met and been backstage for a lot of big time musicians/bands because of a few of my rock star friends. There is one major rule NO FAN BOY SH*T, act like you belong and unless it's offered no asking for pictures or autographs.
This is a cool story. JD actually taught that kid a life lesson. Never let anyone bring up your past traumas because they might be a psycho/Predator/sycophant. Hope that kid worked his issues out and got through that important life lesson.

I think Griffey Jr has a chip on his shoulder. This story would not be the first time he has been a prick.

Anted to get together.

Sully's just awesome tho lol. He's always doing things like that. It never got to him.
Wow, I have the opposite experience with Sully. Every time he came into the club I worked at he was such a dick. Depressive and rude to people trying to talk to him. No one really cared who he was and not everyone knew he was in a famous band. He was just some jerk at the bar.

Coolest band was Mushroomhead. I had emailed them about how their music had helped me through the loss of my firstborn daughter. They hooked me up with Tickets, t-shirts, CDs, and all of them of and the other bands signed one of the t-shirts! this is why Mushroomhead, Bobaflex and Crossbreed will always have a spot in my playlist . . .

These bands go through hell and work hard.. oh no they did not shake a hand.. the world is burning now.. oh no. I would not want to shake loud mouths hand for sure.
You just brought back a whole day to my memory (age drugs and strokes have scrambled many)
I was a kid with my family at the Circus in Tuckerton NJ. A celebrity was there with his kids. Everyone was scrambling after him calling him by his CHARECTERS name. I made it through the crowd and almost caught up to him, but his legs were longer than mine. He was smiling but not stoping for the fans yelling "JOHN BOY"
I called out "MR THOMAS CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH " he stopped he talked with me and he signed my coloring book from the circus.
Take care.

@@sunnyztmoney Combat wounds don't always show. As for your tax dollars... it's more like loose change.

RIP.
Garbage music.
Dave Williams was amazing. RIP

I actually saw Dave perform his very last show with Drowing Pool in 2002 when they played OzzFest in Virginia Beach 😢

No, you have been keeping yourself sober brother. Congrats.
With all that said, I would never want to meet my idol and have them say that either, would be beyond crushing and possibly even a deal breaker on life if I was in an abusive lifestyle such as that kids.
wow,makes me respect him.for sure.
But when you are fortunate enough to not be in that category anymore and are not just another faceless fan, and you can say they actually do know that you exist… like I said, it just feels really surreal.
wow man that was powerful.. thanks for sharing, Brother!
Sorry you went through all that. I pray you are better! 🙏

Getting mailed tickets from Bon Jovi himself has to be the coolest shit that could hapoend to a kid.

Fr they stole ALOT and I mean ALOT of music. You wouldn’t have blind if it wasn’t written in sex art by their drummer.

I saw and met them at the same show. They were unique at the time. But I quit listening because all their songs started sounding the same to me.

JD, you’re a shining light of goodness and compassion that this country needs. Thank you for your service to those who struggle- I’m sure you’ve changed and saved many lives with your coaching. Godspeed.
Not related to this video but you and your channel as a whole;
I love the positivity you spread and the information about being convicted, especially about how hard it is for us to get back on track once out.

Well, you could send them a letter. Maybe Jon will chime in and say " hey I remember that kid, he fucked my girlfriend!"
You sound foreign

I learned as an adult that my favorite songs by korn are depressing. It really opened my eyes that lyrics matter and what you listen to has an impact on your life.
Oh definitely. The music you listen to is like the food we eat. Everything we consume affects our mind and body even the air we breathe
That's why I listen to all music. Even instrumental music.
I dont listen to korn that much, but when you're angry and depressed angry and depressed music can make you feel less alone
Gotta take lyrics with a grain of salt and not so seriously. I loved Alice In Chains, but if I took their lyrics that seriously I'd have slit my wrists years ago.
Korn sucks
The way I look at it, back at that time in 96, the band was drinking and doing drugs. It makes sense that they wouldn't want a kid around that. I think now a days, it wouldn't be like that, because the band is sober. Fieldy is taking a break right now and working on being sober.
To be fair, yes. Maybe Jon should have let the kid shake his hand. But when you think about it, it can go from a hand shake to a potential hug or even begging to hang out. You know how kids are. Ask yourself this, if you were drunk and on drugs, would you want to be around a kid and expose them to that?
I honestly agree with you
I hope that kid is okay.

As a former CO, I'm happy to see you turning your life around. Keep up the good work!

Fieldy was such a good dude, that he rocked some gear on stage that night. We all have our good and bad nights, and I’m sure Jonathan has some wild stories of people coming up to him, because his art resonates with so many on such a deeper level.
Saw them open for tool once and was blown away by them!!! The drummer was amazing!
Ppl just dnt realize how many ppl come up to them n will say wht evr fan struck ...
Beta energy.
I'm going to continue to listen to Korn for the rest of my life.
Yeah I guess they here to stay
Hahaha they’re corporate sellouts ….rubbish
Yep. Specially because they changed a lot! Sobriety 💪
Hell yeah!!
And you will always be a pawn helping push the agenda and your own slavery
This is a cool story. JD actually taught that kid a life lesson. Never let anyone bring up your past traumas because they might be a psycho/Predator/sycophant. Hope that kid worked his issues out and got through that important life lesson.
LMAO! Way to spin it!
That’s actually so messed up! In an instance my love for Johnathan has died. That kid was already suffering in life and his icon kicked him when he was down.
Korn story starts at 4:50.
Didn’t see the comment until 4:10 so I said screw it.
Dude yells like he’s Tony Robbins.
This dude says I'm not coming for Korn but literally makes a video titled I'll never listen to Korn .
