- Happy New Year! How to install ground side controlled high-beams, A.K.A negative switched headlights to your auxiliary lights.
Mounted and aligned a pair of Auxbeam pencil beam spot lights to the stock bumper of my Lexus GX470 (temporarily until my Red Dog Bumper is ready, WOOT! ) and hooked them up through the factory high-beam switch taping into the high beam ground wire. This hack works with Toyota's, 4Runner's, Land Cruiser's, Lexus GX470, 460, LX, Subaru and many other vehicles. ⛄🏔

Getting rid of all this chrome ( I have the 21 in Blizzard Pearl). I have had the windows tinted all the way around. It's so weird to me that they don't come with driver and passenger side already tinted.

Man these are exactly what I want to put on my GX... I think I may shove them inside a cheesy ebay plastic "low profile" roof rack thingee, use some powerful magnets (and some sort of failsafe safety strap or whatever to the roof rack) so I can pop them off as needed, make changes, clean the car properly. (magnets like to trap moisture.) I'm thinking 4 of these suckers up top (probably need to build in a sort of glare shield down low so they don't light up the hood), with BiLed retrofits in the driving lights, and a something potent in the high beam slots... though I have these old Q45 projectors I sure would love to see inside a GX assembly. Light output on them is pretty poor if we're honest, but they are cool as heck. So long as I have some good true fog lights down low, probably some Diode Dynamics with an SAE approved pattern, low beams should be adequate. High beams will be ridiculous. The Profile Hi-lens to match the Q45 projectors would put some intense light in the middle of the road, and allow me to really spread the pattern of the aux highs on the roof. I also have a 30" dual row light bar I ended up with that has some amber lens tint/diffuser on it that's crazy good at area flooding for light, but I can't stand how tacky it looks.
I like the switched high beam you've got going here, I definitely want to design the setup such that I can use the auxiliary switch panel to "enable" the roof lights, and then have them go on/off with the high beams. And I might be pushing it on draw with that... 4 up top, 4 in housings (2 HIDs that draw 30-40W each) and 2 fogs and honestly that may become 4 if I find any area I deem to want more light. Driving up and down the pipeline in a MN winter made me learn the importance of good lighting.

Hi Nancy. It is warming up as of tomorrow and the following week we should have Chinook weather which is nice and warm. Right now is about -25c
