    I've seen video of the finished kit and the original chrome looks amazing

    The small metal rod is I think part of the Timo Makinen kit 006 , it is included in the 007 kit too,in among the chrome decals I think it may either be part of the lamp bracket, or as an applicator to help apply the chrome decals, it has no function on the OO7 kit.
    The front indicators in Kit 007 are on the chrome sprue, frame E. E 47 &E48 They are trapezioid shaped. And are separated orange and white for turn signals/side lights.The clear ones are for kit 006, and are oblong shaped, they are all orange. and are on clear sprue, Frame B. B14 & B15.
    However the instructions in kit 007 do not tell you this, only calling the frame B parts. The choice is yours, I filed and painted the clear parts before I found the chromed ones on Frame E tucked away!

    The metal rod is for the radio aerial fitted to the roof of the later car. Nice review, looking forward to this one :) BTW one of the things that always puts me off car kits is the coloured plastic. The Torino you reviewed would have me vomming on the bench, although I guess it means kiddies can leave it unpainted. :P

    You could get mk2 rs 1800 rally kit I did one years ago and painted it midnight blue to match 1600 sport but haven't seen that kit avaliable at a reasonable price for a long time.

    Performance Ford fan are we.... by any chance? I'd never have guessed!! lol
    Another great review, Paul & thanks for doing/posting.
    The metal rod? Errrr... radio whip aerial, perhaps, for the boot lid or roof? I'm pretty sure that they did have radios then. I don't know, just an educated guess! But in which case, why only for Makkinen’s car?
    👍👍

    Only flaw with the body shell, is the transom panel. Under the bootlid, between the rear lights, above the bumper, there is another raised surround not moulded in this kit, check it out. I felt the rear arches had too big a lip, and the windscreen pan and rear screen surround was overscale.
    Be careful placing the driver's side windscreen wipers. Belkits have you placing it too low on the scuttle.
    Remember to delete the Left Hand filler when making the Roger Clarke car, as the filler was RHS only! The front indicators on LVX were trapeziod shaped and 2 tone (incorporating side lights), not oblong and all orange as in later cars.
    There is some filling of extra light mounts to fill under the front bumpers. There is a fantasy exhaust tunnel under the car.
    Oh yes, the p.e. front grille has 1 too many vertical slats in it, but with the driving amps in the way may not be all that visible. Lamp brackets are NOT contemporary 1970s, rather they are later style - No matter
    I am not sure, the rear axle has a very small crown wheel housing, and the rear suspension is pure fantasy. They place the rear shocks within the frame rail. They should be inside the frame rails.
    I am nit picking, but I think it is good for purists to know this stuff. Will still make a fantastic model. Enjoy, well done to Belkits

    A kerbside kit. No engine even basic underside detailing for over 40 quid! The engine is every bit as iconic as the car, possibly more so as it was used for years in the ford range, that's one off my list then, the one good thing about seeing a review means I don't have to find out after getting one.

      +spidiq8 Yeah but find another mk1 escort kit

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Paul @ ISM Which is what they're banking on, there are after market resin engine bay detail parts already. When a model is overpriced for what it is already and then needs aftermarket parts I'd rather do without, there may not be many mk1 kits but there are plenty other car kits with better detail and better pricing too.

      There are no other Mk1 escort kits other than the terrible airfix offering.

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Paul @ ISM The terrible Airfix kit that has an engine! If they can do it in 32nd there's no excuse for a kit at 40 plus quid and 24th not to.

    I seriously can't imagine Belkits doing an XR3i.....!!? Most likely step would be a MK2 Escort RS1800...so many possible liveries for that car....and the Revell/Esci kit is awful...

      @conradsmith9332 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I realy like that one (specificly the itelieri re issue) it gives a nice challenge since it's not quite right, if everything fits and is great it's boring. But that's my opinion :)
