Former goodwill employee here: I will say from personal experience that you technically still COULD call it a thrift store but nah their “mission” is a giant dookie in my opinion but to those who go there I wish you happy thrifting and selling 😊
Don’t forget that there are ppl who aren’t resellers so the prices are good enough for them to make the purchase..anyway great content and keep crushing it man!
At the 9:00 mark. There is a Skylanders portal. That exact one that’s behind the Xbox wires. Look to see if they say “for Xbox one” if they do they are worth about 60-70+ on eBay. Cause they have a speaker built in to it that makes that model worth more. But be careful cause there’s ones that are for ps3,4, and switch that look the same that aren’t worth anything more than 10-15.
I'm glad you mentioned the disparity between the target clearance price and goodwills "half off price". My local goodwill says the same thing as well. But what they fail to mention is that its not half off the clearance price, its marked down from the full retail price (at least that's what it looks like to me). They also mention that these items have to be marked up because they've "paid" for them vs the donation items that they have received for free. In all reality they're paying a super discounted rate on the already cheap pallet price since they are a Not For Profit business. I believe target may even be donating these items to goodwill for a tax write off. Maybe I'm wrong but i think their prices have been getting out of hand. Ive even seen "New" donation items being marked as these "new goods" that they get from target and Walmart just to get a higher sale for.
Just a heads up for future reference ~ playstations use a basic C7 power cord used on tons of random electronics. Same goes for video cords ~ they use hdmi.
I was at an estate sale a few months back and I found a whole box of those great courses dvds..all sealed for $2 each. I didn't know about them but I did look them up. I ended up grabbing 15 of the biggest ones, they sold for more. I've done well...I should have got the whole box. Now I know!
I honestly don't blame them for having the controllers and cables separately. For one its a smart business tactic to make more profit, second if you are thrifting and only need wires or controllers you wouldn't need to buy a whole console if they only sold console
It often is missing pieces. ThriftSchool may have cherry picked the video to exclude the Elefun because 1, its not a great way to end the video and two he may have counted the pieces and would have found it was missing pieces
With the Amazon app, do you have to have an amazon store account to gain access / use of the app? Of course, that app would only be accurate for Amazon. On eBay, the same item will be worth less.
Pro tip be sure to scan the leather study Bibles they will run 3X the amount of regular cover Bibles. The study Bibles make sense to be pricey but the fiction books running $7-8 is absolutely insane. Those will never sell.
Would you ever let a new reseller bop around with you to the thrift stores and so that person could learn.? I live in Connecticut and I think it would be interesting to like follow you around in the store.
goodwill is getting outrageous, so much stuff at mine thats just getting random 29.99 stickers thrown on used stuff missing pieces, its disgusting, plastic totes with no lid and writing on them for 8.99. So much corporate greed
I stopped shopping at goodwill. I might walk in quick to look for stuff for my mom or breeze through, just in case, but I've been sticking to salvation army and smaller thrift.
You are correct. I had a brain fart then lol. Could have made some profit. But Im still glad I passed. The rank was a bit high on the graphic novels. If they were faster sellers, then I should have deff grabbed them
Dude you should have looked up the MacArthur leather study Bibles. Those are worth a lot more than the ones you scanned. I wish I was there, would have bought them all to give to my friends 🤣
All thrift stores and Goodwills raised their prices 150% in the last 4 years. As long as people pay these prices they'll (thrift stores) will make a Hugh profit.😡
Some people blame it all on resellers too when in fact people didn't want to pay these prices and resellers just happened to pick them up because they would have been sent to Goodwill Outlet
My biggest issue with spending up and/or small profit margin items for FBA is the shear number of items that get lost on shipment/stocking. Anyone have advice?
The correct thing should be to sell as Used. I would sell it as New on Ebay since the photos show the product better. Amazon is more finicky. Odds are you can sell it New no problem on Amazon, but I cant tell people they should, on the off chance, Amazon, or a customer complains.
Unfortunately that particular RWB store has been WAY over priced for quite some time. It's gotten to the point that items at 75% are still not worth picking up. It's really unfortunate.
Those were actually PS3s I already had lol. I didnt end up getting the one at the thrift store. I was moving inventory from storage back home at the time and my Trunk was packed
Do you ever have issues selling Cards Against Humanity? I've gotten a VERO claim before for trying to sell one. So with Exploding Kittens and games made by Relatable (What Do You Meme? etc)
I thought you could get bibles for free in Thrift Stores in Australia but why charge them in the first place in an Thrift Store, Jesus would never exclude people from having a free bible if it has been used
@@jaidentslgl2753 Study bibles are different than regular bibles; they are learning material like a text book and they sell for over $100 in some cases.
Greedwill strikes again. When people defend these people's prices I point to things like this. There's no defense for selling things for more than the store it came from who donated it to you had is discounted at. Makes no sense. I could have gotten it cheaper at Target and Target definitely isn't a thrift store
Yeah but nobody bases their decision to do business at a store strictly because of it's name. And most businesses have shady practices too, so what don't shop anymore because we don't like it? 🤷♂️
Same with Savers. Their name sounds like that we save money from buying with them but its cheaper at Goodwill but still overpriced compared to the independents
$70 on the possibility of a non working console just wasn't worth the risk. This thrift store doesnt offer returns. If you notice in the beginning of the video I had a handful of PS3 that I need controllers/cords for so I can sell them, those do work so I didnt need to add another possibly broken one to the mix.
@jaidentslgl2753 same price. For the compilation books I'd pay 6 bucks each. For the standard 1 story comics I'd pay 1 to 4 bucks tops. Unless it's say action comics number 1, or a comic compilation I really want then I stick to 6 or under.
Profiteering it is. They pay their CEOs and managers so darn high, yet they'd pay their employees for minimum wage or something, yet they only do charity work if they get enough profit. They get motivated by profit to do charity work. That's not how charity should be done. That's why Goodwill is not a legit charity, they're a social enterprise business
I saw some of the books being $4.99 as well. Definitely expensive, even when converting to AUD for my sake. I found books at a Salvos Stores (Australian equivalent of Salvation Army) for $2-$3 each and that's in Aussie dollars. Aussie dollars worth nothing compared to USD
Wannabe resellers beware! This guy makes more money from TH-cam than reselling. Any veteran reseller will tell you to avoid the common petty items this guy claims to be buying.
They are selling this for a penny more. Interesting way to do business . Oh, look, Legos $2 I'll sell them for $40. Wtf bro the good will is for poor people. Not for you to profit. YATA
@jray0717 trolling? I've had 4 kids. Now they are 27, 25, 18, 13. Over the years, I've donated tons of stuff to goodwill. I could have sold it myself. But I wanted to help the less fortunate. Then this donut buys it and sells it for huge profits. Complaining when the profit is only $10 and not $12. A-hole
Former goodwill employee here: I will say from personal experience that you technically still COULD call it a thrift store but nah their “mission” is a giant dookie in my opinion but to those who go there I wish you happy thrifting and selling 😊
They're pretty gross in a lot of ways.
The PS3 should take a standard power cord. I come across them at garage sales for $1 or less.
Don’t forget that there are ppl who aren’t resellers so the prices are good enough for them to make the purchase..anyway great content and keep crushing it man!
It's not inflation in thrift stores - it's greed.
The need to rename Goodwill to "Greedy" I only swing by Goodwill if I need to use the bathroom.
Yeah.. Like me @ Mc Donalds... Free bathrooms.. nice

Thrifting saves the landfills!!
Yes it does!
The Goodwill that I was just at gave the cashiers a raise to $11.50 an hour. They were making $7.50 an hour before that, so they were all happy.
I'm glad you mentioned the disparity between the target clearance price and goodwills "half off price". My local goodwill says the same thing as well. Goodwill shouldn't even be considered a thrift store nowadays.
I thought thrift stores were social enterprise businesses. They have to pay tax in the US I think but in Australia they don't
What place is that first store??

Hey red tags were 50% off, how long you been doing this lol?

Those books where 50% off so they would be 7.50 red tags 50% off
i'm seeing the same high prices at my local Goodwill. A huge lot of Marvel trade paperbacks all priced at $14.99 where they used to be $1.00.
You missed the Elefun game! An easy 25-35 bucks if complete
It often is missing pieces. ThriftSchool may have cherry picked the video to exclude the Elefun because 1, its not a great way to end the video and two he may have counted the pieces and would have found it was missing pieces

Im glad you found some gems at your last store visit. Its a shame that thrifts are pricing themselves out of business nowadays
Goodwills in my area are individually owned so they sit the prices different at each store. My goodwill is still cheap.
The prices at your goodwill are crazy. Prices at the ones I go to have been dropping for the past few months because they have too much inventory.
Would you ever let a new reseller bop around with you to the thrift stores and so that person could learn.? I live in Connecticut and I think it would be interesting to like follow you around in the store.

I do think if you didn't have Savers in your area your goodwills would be even worse
When you put stuff back please put them back where you picked them up from. Thank you, sir.
Do you still sell that great courses dvd set as new on Amazon even though it has those tears in the plastic?
The correct thing should be to sell as Used. I would sell it as New on Ebay since the photos show the product better. Amazon is more finicky. Odds are you can sell it New no problem on Amazon, but I cant tell people they should, on the off chance, Amazon, or a customer complains.

There’s a mission thrift store near me that gives its Bibles away for free.
The intro is what she said

corporate greed at gucciwill is off the charts
These prices are ridiculous. Their selling it for $12 it only worth $20
So u would rather make 5$ profits instead of 100s in profit? Should got the ps3 cords are cheap if doesnt work return it. Doesnt make sense

“You’d make sixteen bucks, so there is zero profit in these.” Interesting math.
Thats just the after fees estimate. Not counting the cost of the item or shipping costs/materials.
I buy comics to read and I refuse to pay more than 6 bucks at a thrift store
How much would you buy them in Pawn Shops?
@jaidentslgl2753 same price. For the compilation books I'd pay 6 bucks each. For the standard 1 story comics I'd pay 1 to 4 bucks tops.

My sentiments exactly.
But they're not a charity, they're a social enterprise business
Convenience or not I'm not paying $40 for a board game on Amazon
It could also be rare either for the condition or for the game itself
Definitely not inflation. This type of greed has been going on at my Goodwill stores for the last decade, looks like yours finally caught on.

Not true. I make around $12-1500 a month on TH-cam and I make that in less than a week on Amazon.
These comments are so uninformed, it's not hard to Google how much the average monetized TH-cam video makes per view. It's not much.
