Thank you man! Very informative and video syncs up perfectly! Only very recently ago I learned about Songhai 500 Influence = 5 Raider. For AI compstomps, just spamming Raiders with Songhai made it much much easier! Still, I need to get better at ramping up my eco quickly. Perhaps I'm a bad player but I find Advanced Granary to be crucial in quickly setting up lots of Fields + Koose and that helps me get going.
Songhai build benefits from making a tower closer to enemy and make desert archers. They are better vs defensive pikes cuz range tower gets you a lot of tempo with shipments.
Aren’t you messing with ability to mass raiders by using wagon for the tower rather than the camp? Also feel like desert archers are less good longbows at times but I can see the utility.
I'll have to try this out, I don't often use desert outlaws because of the insane pop costs. It will hurt the raider mass like engooeer said but maybe the tempo is worth it for certain matchups
@@engooeer you lose raider mass, yes, but you gain tempo. Also with this, going semi ff is smoother, food and gold eco. For full age 2 commit i would still tower but with a war camp built close.
@@juliuskull Yes this is definitely a great option however I really dislike the desert archer compared to fulani. Fulani is just a cheaper, better, and less pop-heavy unit. Also, you will only get 10 raiders in that case, and in many matchups, I prefer getting 15 for the extra siege. Also, the first batch I hit the opponent with is the trained batch and Cavelry moves faster across the map than the tower builder so I think the first 5 hits faster with war camp. I think the tower is better for all in rush and the war camp better for early pressure with a follow-up. Ultimately there is no right or wrong here, only preference.
A faction that isnt very friendly to understanding, It's a cavarly focus civ however I expected it to be like the chinese from age of mythology, IE, lots of cav options but only 2 onfoot units, a basic archer and a basic anti cav unit.
Recently I found out that in songhai start, with better macro and treasures, you can even squeeze the TP in transition and still be able to train 10 raiders and not loose on XP by not sending Hausa kingdom. The transition into semiFF after initial raid is much smoother this way. Also you can send 700w (underestimated card imo) and take another 2 tps and stagecoach if map and matchup allows it, send 700c and age up fast into fortress while being annoying constantly with 15 raiders, aging up under 10 min.
Interesting sounds very good! Especially if the map has a safe tp line. In that case this strat would really be a no brainer! You still build the university as well doing that? In that case if you can afford it, it sounds very strong!
@@3DJakob-hx1hp everythig else from the build remains, I gather 300w 200c and sell a cow for 200w to get tp (with hero), university (with a villager) and a house. Treasures help a lot tbh. After palace I almost always send 700w either to make 2nd racks and fulani to mass or TPs and stagecoach if opponent is passive. Both work.
It's funny that our songhai builds are still pretty different 😅 For the cons of the songhai build I'd add that an opponent starting cav could be problematic.
@@3DJakob-hx1hp nice thing about the raider start is that you can switch easily between raiders and javelin riders since they both cost roughly the same - both are food-coin. So if you scout stable start or in mirror, just train javelins instead or/and 500inf use on berber allies.
What cards would you add in age 3 playing the Akan FF? It just feels that there are not that many cards to buff them, and you cant send any Akans in age 3. I tend to find myself sending cows over and over xD
I usually send cards in roughly this order: 1000inf 5 Lifidi 4 Lifidi Sahelian Kingdoms Maguzawa Jukunawa Other noteworthy additions are 8 Berber Allies, Loyal Warriors, Massina Madrasahs, Hadeija Emirate, 8 fulani and 8 javs. Note that loyal warriors since update 13.58326 effects Akan as well! While there aren't many cards directly buffing the Akan; sending Cavalry is good since they can snare and get the Akan in range. That's why I really like sending back-to-back lifidi. Also, the lifidi cards are just great value resource wise. The griots are also inane with the Jukunawa card so always try to get that in and mix griots with the akan.

If u go with emir card u get a tower from that and u have more los with 2 explorers @engooeer
