I heard the whistle note, but in terms of sheer vocal weight, Patti is a thunderclap to Mariah's raincloud. It's the difference between a dramatic soprano and a lyric soprano. Not better, not worse, it's just their vocal weights are different. Patti's frontal, mask placement also gives more metal to her sound as opposed to Mariah's more open throat lending her a more velvety, bronze tone.
Pattie does have a bigger voice, but it makes no sense to compare a whistle note to a chest belt that's asinine at best. Only people with chest voices that high and dramatic are Wagnerian sopranos that sing opera. Look up Joan Sutherland and you'd know what I mean.
