  • After suffering numerous miscarriages and failed IVF attempts, Keia Jones-Baldwin and her husband, Ricardro Baldwin decided to pursue alternate options to expand their family. In addition to one biological child, they took part in fostering children as well as a transracial adoption. Despite the joy from expanding their family, they also share the challenges they've encountered along the way with raising a multiracial family.

The thing is when Angelina Jolie or any other white people adopted an Ethiopian african american child, Cambodian, asian or any race, people were like ooohhh she's so kind and awesome. But its different when its the other way around. Stop this double standards. Its great that people gives children a loving home and a family. Be happy and be kind. Btw no hate to Angelina and other white people. Im just pointing things out.

She adopted an Ethiopian child, thus African and not African American lol But, yes, it's great that people are willing to adopt, no matter what they superficially look like. We are one race with sub divided people groups but still one race: Human.

I'm just hard pressed to know . How they allowed you to adopt this child ? Not that you don't deserve to adopt him . Because he seems happy and loved . But I thought that they automatically give white families priority . When adopting white children . And as we know . White babies are the most sought after . For adoptions . So it's curiosity for me . That they were willing to bypass white couples . And give this baby to you . Nothing against you and your family . I'm just wondering about that part of it . North Carolina is still very much in the south .

Men nowadays don't know how to be a man, and women nowadays want to be a man....Gods design was: man is the head of the family, and the woman is the helper. Everyone has there place and no one is better than the other, they just have different roles that compliment what the family needs , that is perfect equilibrium (more perfect if you are smart enough to choose a good hearted, full of wisdom and caring husband)

I have a bio blonde child with blue eyes. When he was a baby his hair was nearly white and people would approach me to tell me how cute he was and blah blah blah and then the line would always come, "I bet his parents are so proud". I was a fairly young mom so I didn't have any snappy comebacks. I would just say I'm his mom. Now as an old bitter lady I would probably answer, "I don't know, they never paid the ransom" or some other asshole remark that would call the rath of the Karens.

I was a foster child in need and a black family took me in and it was the most wonderful thing to ever have happened to me. I wish i had been adopted. He/she say "They don't know the impact that Putting a white child into a black home will have." it probbaly mean he/she hope story like this will encourage more black parent to have a courage to adopted white baby especially if they have a strong bond and connection to the baby. Awesome! We have been foster parents for 3 years. We had a baby girl from 7 weeks old until 2 years old. We planned to adopt her. The agency said they were on our side. Then a relative showed up from another state. So, they came and I got the her to be with the relative a week before Xmas 2020.We were the only family that she knew. We loved her so much a long with our family and friends. Last year was the worst Xmas ever! We had to take break from fostering. Now we are back to try again we want to be "Forever Parents". “I don’t think he going nowhere either” 😂😂I love how she makes light of this situation.
Relation Rant: I’m the BIOLOGICAL mother of 2 little girls who are mixed with Hispanic. Since birth (mostly with my oldest) I’ve gotten the side eye from EVERY race. Caucasian people just stare and don’t look away. Some frown. Hispanic women (mostly older) scowl at me and when I was with their dad they’d really be mean. I’d even hear them whispering. But I think it’s comments by my own race that annoys me the most. Comments so stupid , I don’t want to type them.
I used to look at people like “CAN I HELP YOU TF” .. it was times I would be out with my sister that has the same complexion as my kids (“example : Singer Ella Mai ”) and people would ask my sister (even tho I’m holding my child and playing with her) “Oh she’s so beautiful, how old is she?” My Sister would just look to me and I’d answer and their whole demeanor changes. Having biracial kids has opened my eyes to how simple minded and ignorant people are in society. But this here *pumps fist* This is beautiful!!!

It’s a terrible flaw in human nature to always want to be something else or to project your own ignorance on others.

To me it's so weird when white people do this. If both mother and father are 3/4 Swedish and 1/4 Italian and they have a baby that looks 100% Italian the only response is, "Oh, the baby took after the Italian side of both of you." It's not an event. Yet if the parents have ancestry from different continents and the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS, white people act like it's some kind of surprise. White people are very strange about this. And I'm 100% white (as far as I know) so I can say this.

My family is African American and my brother has a child with a Caucasian woman their child though mixed is Caucasian in appearance and so many people will break their necks to stare at you 🙄🙄 and God forbid I be in an interracial relationship because I can't tell you how many times I've had people coming to me to "congratulate" me for paving the way and moving forward 😩🤔🤔??? And apparently I've been told by my boyfriends in the past that when we walk in anywhere we get multiple looks from people but my oblivious behind never noticed because I'm minding my own business and just living, as long as people don't come up to me they can keep looking all they want they just got to learn that interracial families aren't a circus act we aren't entertainment and they will learn to mind they business in due time. ⌚⌚😊🧘‍♂️🧘🏿‍♀️

You will probably never get to read this, as this was posted such a long time ago, and you have so many followers, but I wanted to put it out there, that I understand what you are going through.
When my husband and I first met, and we knew that it was moving towards being serious, we both knew we had to put our most important beliefs on the table. I had wanted to have a large family adopting hard to place children since I was 5 years old. To my shock, my husband had the same calling! This understanding of each other’s dreams pretty much sealed the deal. We married within that next year. We waited about 1 1/2 years, got pregnant, had our first daughter, then had our second 2 1/2 years after that. We started preparing for our first adoption when our second daughter was 11 months old. I cannot tell you each one’s backstory ( I would have to write a book for that). We were first called when our oldest daughter was 5, and John ( Ogalala Sioux Indian) was 6. Ray was Cherokee through his Grandmother and Grandfather which made this adoption legal. After that, they started rolling in. Jeremy 21 months (he was black and Spanish), then Amy at 6 (Alaskan Indian, also profoundly deaf), Angela and Mark 11 and 9( brother and sister abandoned by their mother), then came Joey 14 (Mexican) he was tossed around in the system for most of his life, finally our baby Kristofor 18 months (very white with bright red hair). We were always stared at, heard whispers behind our backs, were questioned about fairness or legitimacy of taking our ethnic children away from their cultures, we lost many friends, were uninvited to family (my husband’s)events. If we traveled we had to carry adoption papers. Some of our children would be pulled aside to be questioned about why they were with white parents. Yeah, that was tough.
We were blessed to have a lovely farm, where the kids could have pets, and lots of space to play.
I’m now 72, and Ray 73. We have been married for 51 years.
Our journey has sometimes been difficult, but have WAY MORE wonderful memories, and hilarious memories. We have been blessed with 15 grandchildren, and our children are among our best friends.
Thanks for bringing up so many precious memories, and some difficult ones🙏. It’s a reminder that even though there are many things have changed in our society, we still have work to do.
    Bless you❤
