I'm Josh with Cotton and Hollow. We make funny things, we make useful things and we end up in many improbable situations. If you've got this far in the description you are an intrepid explorer of boxes and I approve you as a comrade in curiosity. So join me on this adventure as we make multitudes of majorly magnificent videos as we be excessively modest and have a good time! Thanks for watching and reading, give yourself a cookie.
Josh choosing to sleep in an underwater base with no oxygen production seems so much worse than any number of Bonesharks
Sleep is just death without the long term commitment so why worry?
it blows my mind they have not dealt whit their power issues
@@viktorgabriel2554Their? Dude Josh’s paranoia is the SOLE controlling force of this whole letsplay lmao
Amazed that he keeps avoiding all of the things that are actually scary while simultaneously being afraid of all the little ones
Shh don't make it worse he's like a baby deer let him come to you
Big bang theory reference 👌
Josh: "I think we should go north."
Me: *quickly goes through the areas in the north I can think of, namely Dunes, Blood Kelp, Island and Mountains* "Oh yeah north is great!"
Oh yeah, especially the dunes. I just love that little encouraging massage the pda gives you.
@@yeetusdeletus7256 I like the area after the dunes even more, they should definitely go there. *Smiles innocently*
Honestly he got pretty close to the Dunes when he popped out of the Blood Kelp Zone at one point. I'm still surprised that the biggest thing he's encountered so far is the Reefbacks.
@@treybrzezowski3259 It's both surprising and pissing me off at the same time at this stage
@@leeallstar6973 It's extra infuriating when you remember he somehow completely bypassed the You-know-what at the front of the Aurora going both ways. Even If I don't manage to Aggro it, I can still see it and usually hear it.
I'm genuinly proud of how far Josh has come. I have thalassophobia myself, but propably nowhere near to the same level as he does. I also really struggled with Subnautica in the beginning, but I'm so glad that I stuck around and finished it, it's propably my favourite survival game ever.
Sounds like the final part of the Cyclops (which can also carry around your Prawn Suit) can be found behind the Aurora. That means it's time to explore the back of the wrecked ship!
24:26 yeah, you guys need to find another piece of the cyclops puzzle to make it. if you want to get it, the best way is to search near the back and front of the aurora
You just want him to have a heart attack don't you?
@@booalex1 Sssshhh, you'll reveal my master plan!
@booalex1 the sad part is that the cyclops fragments being there isn't even a lie.
I love how josh gone from scared of the bone sharks to fucking annoyed with them.
That sounds like normal video game enemy progression.
@@greenhydra10 it more like how my experience with then came, aside from the fact they were not really scary for me. Just something dangerous.
But Boneshark have a quirk of having so god dam many that it becomes annoying really quick. Is not even that they are particularly dangerous they are just strong enough you can't ignore them like you do with stalkers or sandsharks
Already the bonesharks are coming to town, another great day to watch Josh's suff- I mean, Subnautica playthrough!
Once upon a time, those blue spheres were supposed to be explosive, and triggered by proximity. Also, about the alien containment, if you ad multiple floors to your base, you can use the alien containment as an "elevator" between floors. It will also increase the cap of creatures inside.
The format of “Josh plays game cotton watches” has started to grow on me so much recently. It feels like cotton is just our voice. Especially if Josh does some dumb shit
Cotton, I want you to roll over to rage's house, barge in, and nose dive the controls into the depths whenever he hesitates. 😆
Yes please :D Like every time he's about to move one meter further down he goes ,,So what about this...'' and then it takes 5 minutes to get him going anywhere but up :D I need to hear Cotton start screaming just ,,GO DOOWWNN JOOOOSH!'' Continuously until he does :D
@@Guardian-of-Light137kinda like how I’m in your house
You can explore the entire map with the prawn suit with the grapple arm and jump boost upgrade.
I farm large deposits all the time and explore almost exclusively vai prawn suit because of those upgrades.
It is unbalanced and awesome
11:58 That actually got me! XD
same, I was even expecting it. damn you hollow
same...
Dude same! I watch marks 3 scary games but never jumped, then freaken jumped when I saw the eye!
Granted 3 scary games isn’t the best example, but it is the only one my tired brain could think of.
Yeah there's a third part to the cyclops, but it's behind the Aurora but there's nothing there also if you knife plants you can plant them in the contaiment unit and they'll grow also when the kids do hatch pick them up and drop them outside of your base and they'll stay nearby
I AM SO PROUD OF JOSH. He went from being terrified of Warpers to just being annoyed lmao
Small reminder if you haven't yet; Blood Oil contains seeds to grow Blood Kelp and farm Blood Oil. Also those plants that look like heads with pink inside them are my favorite for a reason I'll leave to be found from scanning them. Attempting to scan everything is a good rule of thumb, even thermal vents
23:13 to answer your question josh, those underwater floating islands are the boneshark's nesting ground and they don't hunt in there, they've managed to drove off any other lifeform that was a similar size to them that could threaten their babies, where they hunt is basically anywhere that's not a cave or the safe shallows, Bonesharks are apparently more intelligent than the game portrais here. they live in groups but hunt alone and they will defend their nesting grounds with their life.
Josh should really consider building an additional power source beside the solar panels. They have the nuclear and bioreactor and those would keep any base powered pretty much permanently, even with multiple moonpools each charging a vehicle
plus they can use the alien container to hold the occulus the best creatures for Bio generator
16:30 glad they found the Markiplier doll theres also a little jacksepticeye reference you can get somewhere i forgot where but little nice things to find since mark ane jack where ppl who played the game in its really early days
This entire series is just exposure therapy for Josh, and Cotton is the therapist with lines like "see? That creature was totally cool with you being there. Nothing bad is happening."
I know we're all holding our breaths for Josh to encounter Subnautica's flagship, but I am hoping we see him meet a Mesmer.
Oooooh, yeah, that would be awesome
Yeah third part to the cyclops, but behind the Aurora like someone else mentioned. So Josh avoiding that area this whole time isn't going to really help him that much.
Behind the Aurora as in by the engines or where nose would be?
Spoiler Free:
There are 4 different ways to get power for your base,
Solar Panels, as you know (less effective the deeper your base is)
Geothermal power plants, Very good but limited as to where you can use them (need a geothermal vent, also need power transmitters to link them to your base)
Bioreactor, the most reliable power source IMO (can put plants, fish, or eggs as fuel) It will give power over a set amount of time (The Oculus, a peeper-relative from the Purp cave, is the best fuel. Just grab 2 and load them into an Alien Containment Unit and they'll breed)
Nuclear, Late game power source, but gives *A LOT* of power, though the fuel rods require a pretty rare material to use.
Edit: Also Josh you are correct, there's a third Blueprint for the Cyclops; The Bridge.
Btw, the water maker and scanning room take up A LOT of power so you MIGHT want to upgrade your power, it can stack IE multiple solar panels, solar panel + other power making structures etc. Also you can build scanner room range upgrades in the scanner room and insert them to MASSIVELY increase their scan range
This is a non spoiler tip josh. if you want the cyclopes try exploring more around the aurora or northeast. you will find your mythical beast there.
* sees a BONEshark *
“Fleshy!”
I love how at 22:47 when the Boneshark jump scared Josh, he gave it the Bazelgeese theme like its an invader lol.
I can wait for josh to learn blood oil and creepvines can be planted 😂
don't you need to double-stack the containment to make those useful for it though?
@@The_Murder_Partycan always plant them outside
@@direkitsune true, true.
The scanner Room network is actually a very good idea, i had it in my world and it let me see everything as long as i was in range and a nearby Room as scanning for it. It can help get fragments, creature eggs and can even locate the larger lifeforms like the table whales. You would need a lot of materials so its more of an endgame goal
Prawn suit is perfect for defense. Even with its regular arms, you can punch bone sharks to death.
On a side note if you do not know already, stalkers drop teeth by picking up metal. They also drop teeth biting seamoth or prawn suit. (Stalker can not damage vehicles, but they try. )
PS Hold the emp to charge it to nuke an area. Takes more power, but you zap like ten things at the same time and kill all little fish. Remember this when you finally have to fight back against something bigger then a shark.
How in the world I didn't knew those two last things!? O.o
I love how Josh freaks out at every fish when he has the stasis rifle, a gun that freezes all endemic life in place is in his pocket.
this channel always makes my day better.
Without spoiling anything specific.. any plant that you can grow in an exterior growbed under water, you can also plant inside the alien containment to add some vibrancy and color to the alien containtment. Experiment, and you can have a lovely little environment in the safety of your base! Or a horrifying one, if you so prefer.
(Hopefully) Spoiler free important message:
If possible, let Cotton take control in the lava zone. There is important information that Josh’s jump scare nature wouldn’t let you experience properly.
Cant wait till he finds that one egg...
A good tip for base power is to make a biogenerator, It gives 500 power total and putting a single gel sac in it grants 210 power so you can put like 10 in and have power for the next 20 hours of gameplay. Its a lot less matienece than i thought at first tbh.
Josh, you can STACK the alien containments to have more capacity! Just place them on top of each other until it reaches the roof.
Josh now that you have a Nuclear reactor blueprint, BUILD ONE! It's not very cheap and you'll also need reactor rods l for it but it's near unlimited energy even at night... For the reactor rods you need to first pick-up a few Urananite crystals from the trench, you will need four crystals for one reactor rod and you'll need four reactor rods for maximum power. You can also find and scan a nuclear waste disposal bin to toss the spent reactor rods in. Also, build that unusual doll and interact with it. Finally, the bone sharks are the most aggressive non-leviathan species in the game they will attack anything and can even cause substantial damage to the cyclops. Equip your seamoth and PRAWN suit with the hull reinforcement module so they don't take too much damage from Bone Sharks
The best food in the game is cured Reginald, and yes, you can farm them if you put at least two in a tank
Josh: "I CAN BE A PAPA?! WHERE IS HOUSE?!"
That eye behind the laser cut door... You got me good, sir.
6 am in the morning...I'am awake now. Thanks.
josh u can find the rest of the cyclop behind the aurora
A little tip for bone sharks, you can lure them with flares because they’re attracted to lights
*No Spoiler Survival*
Ok, I haven't seen it yet, but you should definitely put a storage upgrade on the Seamoth and keep 1 Bottle of Water, and 1 Spare Power Cell in case the Seamoth loses power. The Degrassi Base in the Jellyshroom cave you went to in this video, if you haven't been in the back or second floor of it, there is more inside. If the jelly fish get in the way, use your Repulsion/Repulsion Canon to get them out of the way. Also, from that base go straight up and you'll leave the cave from a new entrance/exit. You found a chair, if you build it in base you can sit and read the PDA data without fear of losing water and food. It helps when you start reading a lot from there. Your base flooded and yes Reinforcement is good, but don't forget to build Foundation is cheap to build and adds good reinforcement to your base. You found a Thermal Plant, at 17:12 of this video on the right side you passed a Thermal Vent. Build one down there *CAREFULLY NOT TO BURN* and use Power Transmitters to link power from the Thermal Plant to your base for endless power. Out of all the power sources its the best in my opinion. Especially if you stack it. Nuclear is great late game. Early, it's very costly. Solar Panels are good but only put out 75. Now that you have an alien containment find an edible fish egg two preferably and let them mate. Use the salt from the Water Filtration and salt the fish that are growing in the tank and food will not go bad and you can keep extra in lockers. Lastly, cool thing that I found by accident. The Stalkers love to grab your cameras from the scanner room. If you find Mesmer eggs, breed them in the containment and then release two or three by any scanner room you built and they will stay there and patrol around. They deter the Stalkers and hence save you from having to track down cameras that the Stalkers steal. They were like Mesmer guard dogs.😅
6:33 *snorts while thinking perverse thoughts “😂
Josh the more solar panels you put on the base the more power you will have trust me 😎😎 28:39
Thanks for playing this. I enjoyed it so much that I went out and bought it.
You know this series is called Pro and Noob which started when you guys were playing Monster Hunter world where Josh is teaching Cotton but now it feels like it's the other way around because now it feels like Cotton is the pro and Josh is the noob, for subnautica at least.
20:54 You should check under the big islands, and be impressed
I love this series. I love this channel. I love the random humor. Never stop
Cyclops bridge fragments are found around the Aurora. At some point Josh, you’ve got to conquer your fear and go looking for them.
You can increase how much can fit in a containment unit by adding rooms and containment units on top of each other. Build tall.
Thank you so much for playing this game it really renewed my drive to play it again. You and Cotton are amazing.
Sweet a new episode lets go 🎉
Fun Fact: That giant base room isn't originally from classic Subnautica. It's actually a structure from the sequel game, Below Zero, that the devs backwards ported into Subnautica 1 in an update.
Josh seems like he's getting a little more comfortable with the ocean.
Little tip. There are lots of cyclops pieces around the aurora especially the back
Josh, if you want to become the greatest menace to the Sea, learn the Stasis Rifle, use it with the vibroknife. You can kill most everything with those two things.
Can't wait for you meet the giant predator
Been loving this series guys, youre doing great on your exploration journey, remember to take breaks from time to time, the ocean is beautiful but dangerous.
I love watching you freak out without even encountering the "real" threats of the game. GLHF! btw there is a lot of fun stuff behind the Aurora
I’m honestly surprised you’re so afraid of the OCEAN Josh, since you’ve defended many times the underwater mechanics of TRI AND TRI ULT. But, it is what it is…
SPOILERS: especially since he’s still hasn’t seen…. THE BIG BOYS…. 😁
Well, his fear mainly extends to what's lurking in the ocean.
Plus in the MH example, there's only the monsters he knows is there/will go to hunt, so its basically normal MH action with a twist. Subnautica... is a far more visceral experience because he doesn't know what's down there, nor can he adequately defend himself against them (since it's a survival game, not an action game) :P
Underwater terror time yet again 🍿
16:21 i was hoping you'd find it.
The best way to not get hit is keep moving.
Standing still makes it easier for predators to hit you.
All of the aggressive creatures in this game have really short attention spans and tend to forget you exist after a couple of seconds.
And none of them actually do all that much damage.
Yeah my wrecked cyclops in the inactive zone would like to call bs
@@notrelatedtobacon1282 wait... you don't run silently to pass the lava zone without problem?
@@leilladragon1681 I dont like the cyclops in all honesty
I just use the prawn
Or the seamoth if I'm not going past 900
I wonder how long before Josh discovers the versatility, and potential, of the Alien Containment.
I finally decided to leave a comment about maybe having more solar... like two minutes before you did it lol. Loving the series ❤
I think Josh is the only person to be legit scared of the Bonesharks, like they look cool, but there are way scarier creatures, hell I think the Sandsharks are scarier than the Bonesharks
The proposed base... Go there. Build a scanner room and collect the eggs.
Tbf Bonesharks are probably the most dangerous fish you‘ll encounter in this game.
SPOILERS:
Emphasis on "fish".
A very true statement.
Are the eels in the lost river less dangerous?
Josh, you are lucky having Cotton "play" this with you. I also have thalassophobia and just watching you play is enough to freak me out b/c I can relate to you freaking out.
I am really looking forward to when Josh gives a Stalker a Peeper.
If I'm remembering the spot you went to at the start right, there's a way outside right above you, so it actually makes a good hidey hole.
I love how open this game is. On my save I have the cyclops but I don't have another beacon part yet. Which might kinda suck but I have a scanner room as well so it's not too bad.
it is so hard to not type spoilers in these things, so I'll just do what he did to Cotton in Rise/Sunbreak, I am looking forward to seeing Josh's reactions to the hmmmmm hmmmmmmmm, which I'm shocked he didn't see at the aurora, he got lucky there, and I cannot wait til he encounters the hmm hmmmmm hmmmmmmmm way down there. before that though he'll probably see the hmmmm hmmmmmmmm down in the river biome where he discovered that misty stuff hurts.
GODDAMNIT when's the payoff we all know is coming gonna get here?! This is equal parts enjoyable and agonizing!
2:10 I felt that.
When I played this, diving into the unknown was the coolest thing you can do. Slowly edging into new waters kinda diminishes their impresivness. Especially when you get deeper. Just know you will be safe if you move with gusto, even through new territories, also Stasis rifle plus thermal Knife can kill basically anything but the strongest leviathans. good Luck
Everything can be cooked by the thermal knife XD
If bonesharks scare you this much, you are going to hate “them.”
Josh should find some Bioreactor/Nuclear Reactor Fragments so he doesn't need to worry about his base power all the time. And some of the parts of the Cyclops are in Aurora's surroundings.
He already have Bio and Nuclear but don't use them and I don't know why XD
Also apparently he's probably a new lifeform due to the Karhaa and don't need more energy to get air because he have the ability to sleep with none
16:22 oh, hi mark
I would advise to refrain from using the sonar too often, it uses so much power.
Hope you guys have seen the Monster hunter Exoprimal Cross Over Trailer
I now must find this
The fact that he has yet to see and L’s specifically the R,L is truly insane at this point
And I don't think he heard one, he might have a snake sense that allows him to avoid L's
Did you know his mother was a snake?
SPOILER FREE TIP: The shock defense on the Seamoth can be charged up for a larger AOE. You can hit multiple bonesharks with it. Uses a good chunk of power though.
If you wanna scan stuff more easily and safely, try immobilizing subjects with the Stasis Rifle.
Suggestion without spoiler.
To find usefull thing you should go near the aurora.
Also a tip.
You may want to start not taking valuable stuff with you.
Like the seamoth deathmodule.
Josh if it makes you feel any better, you can actually one shot bonesharks by running your seamoth into them haha, it'll damage your hull a bit but its worth it if you just want to get rid of them!
9:02
Boneshark jumpscare
there is also apparently still a code around to craft the septic eye of jacksepticeye. They helped making the game more popular along with a lot of other people among them more youtubers. You can see who contributed in it when you finished the game.
FFS! Was agreeing with the thing about the eye idea being creepy, then it jumpscared me so bad I threw my fajita everywhere!
If I remember correctly there are cyclops parts around the aurora, but you have to travel around it not in it
6:17 thanks for grabbing the pda you missed
11:55 YOU BOIL ON A DONKEYS BUTT!!!! YOU SCARED THE FUDGE OUT OF MEEEE!!!!
Pro tip, Sea moth is bugged. Moving diagonally is faster than moving in one direction.
Welcome back
You can set the game to pause while in the pda through the accessibility settings.
I recommend getting more power for the base
The thing you are missing for the cyclops is "cyclops bridge fragment"
*Clears throat*
LET ME BE CLEAR!
Corn serpent sea snake? Or Jeff the fish farmer?
