I would say that I am surviving when I use my desk but I am working to organize and thin out my collection
I organize by usage habits! My work stuff, study stuff, and artistic stuff are separated out.
My washi tapes (clustered by colour/pattern type) are strung onto a teatowel rail that slides in and out from under my desk.
I use all three methods. 😅
I would do 4 piles:
Used frequently
Used not so frequently
Stationery that make my desk pretty
Stationery so pretty or expensive I will never use

@@potatoboi6188 pens and writing utensils I try to use, but those asian paper stationery(memo pads, letter sets, washi tape...) , unique stickers... Some are hard to get and expensive, so I just can't 😭😭😭
You forgot the: adorable pen that actually sucks but it's too cute to throw away so you use it as decoration even though it gets in the way when you suddenly need to grab a working pen quickly category 😅

my biggest problem is that i keep hoarding stationery then I'd be like "omg these stickers are so cuuuute I don't wanna waste them" and now i have piles and piles of unused stickers that can't even stick anymore 😩 same goes with pens and markers, basically i have like 300 pens and keep using only the 3 ugly ones 😒
Use them for a Bullet Journal or an Ispirational Journal. You also could try to film them to show how works the cutest tools :3

@DL yeah haha i think I just love hoarding them, like buying some cute pens without actually using them, or getting a whole set of 12 colors gel pens instead of just the main 3, same with markers and highlighters... i hardly throw anything out so over the year they just accumulate... i've stop going to stationary stores nowadays coz I know if I see anything I like i'm just gonna bring more home and I'm running out of storage space 🥺

"tidy up when you're done" like I ever finish anything without starting 4 other things in the process to then rush out as I have forgotten about time and am now late. The only time I tidy up my desk is when my no parking zone is getting too cluttered for me to function 🤣

Hey, on the pencil case unable to zip, I feel attacked lol 😂😂😂😂.
I just bought a bigger one... I have 3-4 different sizes now depending on what I want to carry each day lol.
Or just throw everything inside a big Rubbermaid like I do, and everytime you open it … it feels like Christmas! 🎄

My mom told me that I was need to clean out my stationery collection.
She says I have “too much stationery”, I mean is that even possible?
Hell nah! There's no such thing as "too much stationery."
Just organize it and keep it out of sight or more like in a case that is opaque and she will think u cleand it and nothing is like too much statonary

Tips for organizing your pens (my collection > 1000 pens)
1. Put all unused pens on your table (running out of space lol)
2. Group them based on the producer (uni, pilot, zebra, pentel, etc)
3. Group those from the same producer in the same box
4. Position the box horizontally with the opening on a side. Then, put them in one by one to from different ranks.
5. Position the boxes upright and all pens will be standing vertically (which can avoid the ink drying up)
As a pen enthusiast, I use my pens based on when I bought them (sadly I am still using those I bought in 2019 - two years of new pens still stuck in my collection haha), but that has motivated me to write more so that 'new' pens can come and replace them soon. All used pens are stored in the 'graveyard' and to be back in service again as I want them to (though I never run out of pens haha).
Currently having:
One handmade stationery rack (for pens used at home)
One cylindrical pen holder (for pens used at school)
Two pen cases (one for workplace, one for casual use)
Five boxes of pens (unused collection x 4 and one 'graveyard')
Always appreciate when outtakes are included. Yay!
I also use the mythological approach to organization in the sense that I often talk about it but it doesn't really exist...

Weird, though I've seen them and tend to overlook them, those acrylic organizers really caught my attention...especially in the bookcase shot @ 1:35. It has a clean look to it. Didn't expect that, but I likes, I likes. Thanks for posting.
Love this video! I definitely organize by intuition/purpose like in 2:06 :) I have one area for work supplies, journaling/creative, then another for cosplay!
By not having five million scissors at my office desk like my cosplay area does, I don't have to spend time fussing over which blade to use to just open a package
To help get used to putting things away like in 4:33, I make sure to find a "home"/container for each of my stationery items. When I'm done using them, it's easier to put them back when they have a designated place to go!
What really helped me organize my stationary was getting a 16 drawer storage cabinet from Arteza. I was able to color code the pens, color pencils, sharpies, highlighters in drawers and also I could color code the washi tapes plus paints. There was even room to put the different size mechanical pencils/lead holders, refill lead, sharpeners and erasers but the best part is that I can put it in front of me on my desk so it's all in easy reach. For the to go supplies, I have a pencil case for pencils and a Lihit Lab Smart Fit Carrying Pouch for the rest. IT'S THE BEST! I fit in a sketchbook, a graph notepad, Pentel standard brush pens, alcohol markers, white gel pens, and ballpoints of varying colors. Brilliant design. For work, what's been super practical is using the Cubix Two Tone Pen Case and so everything I need is in easy quick reach. The majority of my paper for whatever I may need it has been placed on a long shelf, but I do have two notepads set aside next to the sticky notes for when I need to quickly write something down. So far it's helped keep me productive. It definitely works to have the most often used stationary on hand! So great. The pens I use the most are above the cabinet so that I can see which I need immediately and don't struggle to find them. LOVE this video!

Wait actually I do have penpals now and I send them washi samples and get to finally use my pretty stationery and pens. But it has also fed my buying habit. :-)
How did you get started with pen pals?

Idk what's a nerd-
I usually carry one or two pens I don't need (they are still good to use) and when people borrow pens I just give away. (My friends also have a lot pens they don't need my pens!

I put all my pens/pencils in one of my ikea drawers and literally dive to find that "pen I need." I felt slightly attacked when she said "you won't have to dig around for that one red pen if everything is already grouped by color." 4:17
I don't have much stationary items and I don't know why am watching this but am still watching this
I kind of do a mix of all of them. I organize things from frequency first after going through everything, and then sort them by purpose - what do I use for school or home writing versus what I use for art? And then within those collections, I sort by function - sort out the pens and their colors and the notebooks from folders, and so on. Backups - like extra pens or notebooks - are usually kept elsewhere as their own section.
This is helpful. I actually decided to combine the system. Frequent Pens and small note in one place on table. Then everything else in categories.
Need this lol! I have all the pens I brought to college in one pencil case, but I don't have room for new pens and I'm carrying around several that I never use in class. Time to reorganize!

Helpful, and fun to watch! Any chance you could do a vid on how to organise one desk space for multiple/contrasting purposes? I'm sure that's usual for many people e.g. household bills v. school work v. crafting. At the moment I have to manage a relative's affairs, my own, and make greeting cards, all at the same desk.
I made a diy pen stand with 5 compartments and I organise by that same method ~ Gel, Ballpoint, Highlight, Pencil and ruler tapes eraser sharpner stickers

I have a 3-tier trolley for my stationary, because they don't fit my desk anymore. Besides, if I am currently working, I wouldn't need them. If I do need to write stuff down, the trolley is within reach, that i can pull it near me yo grab a pen and my notebook. Then push it back in place.
Also, since they are not at the desk, i always have an open desk for whatever I need that day. No need to constantly clear my desk, if my supplies is not there.
These methods won't work if you still share a room with your siblings...😔

I just keep everything in a back pack it’s organized but then they can’t mess it up or lose it and if I give them a own it’s one I don’t really care about

I cleared out a stationary store about 8 years ago. I have a lot of pens.

This helps me so much I have like a hole stationary store at my room 😂😅
I organize first by type of utensil, then by color. All my erasable pens and markers and such go in one multi-compartment cup. Then I separate those between black and colorful. Colored pencils and pencils each get their own section on the large shelf organizer. Black pens fill their own cup, roughly separated between click and cap. The rest of the pens are separated in the large organizer by color. I put silver, white and fountain pens in the same 'special' section there.
