    Every single lesson I'm learning something new - so instructive. Also love your accent - makes me homesick !!

      This is great to hear!! Glad you are learning. Where abouts are you from? I used to be quite near Gillingham.

    this is yet another great learning experience, especially the revolve around the horizontal axis - neat :)

    That would make a cool Christmas tree ornament. Especially if it was chrome colored to reflect the lights wrapped around the tree.

      @@MangoJellySolutionsDo you mind if I ask what sort of hardware requirements FreeCAD has? I'm thinking of setting up a dedicated station for it (using Linux rather than Windows).

    Thanks for these informative, easy relatable tutorials. I have one question on what you did around 5.50mins. I have a revolve where I purposely created a hole like you did in the centre by moving off the axis but I then need to create a hexagon pocket concentric at one end of the hole. Say 10mm inset. I assume you have to create a datum to set it up but I can't get it in the opposite plane. Please can you assist? Thanks.

      Great to hear you liked the video. So you can use a datum plane or create a sketch and then change it's map mode. I have a number of videos regarding sketch attachment on my channel. Also, if you find it's the wrong way round have a look at the data tab and located the map reverse and change this to true. This may help you.

    With that last example, is it possible to do your rotate around a single point?

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately not, if you place something like a datum point which is a single vertex then you wont be able to select it. I can see what your looking for, that each circle geometry would revolve and cross each other.

    I couldn't get the 3rd revolve to accept the datum line in .20. Is there a workaround for this?

  • @trevorphillips-c7w

    Interesting - but that is a much more long-winded method of hollowing out the object than using the 'Thickness' pocket shown in the last tutorial. I can accept that, perhaps, there are some instances where this is the better method, but if so it would be useful to see when that might be the case. In this instance, the Thickness pocket works just as well.

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  ปีที่แล้ว

      The thickness doesn't always work especially with complex objects.

    Don't ya just hate it when, after being in the draft workbench, you realized that you forgot to turn off the grid? I found that using the g and r keys will clear the grid from within other workbenches.

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is so annoying isn't it! Nice short cut, thanks for that. Come to think about it, I haven't checked to see if there is a setting to stop this from happening........ just checked, there is but it doesn't seem to allow the grid to be switched back on! If you got to your settings, and then click on workbenches, then you have to select the workbench and load it to get to it settings. If you load the draft you get the icon added to the left hand side. Clicking on it you will see a the setting for draft and a grid tab. You can disable the grid from the 'use grid' setting but you can't get it back. What a shame.
