Builds coming together bro! I’ve been uni stage 2 ECU/TCU and have to say I’m blown away by the power and reliability... the guys over at Uni know how to make a tune!
Yeah lowering cars doesn't mean better handling people keep thinking that aesthetically you may like the looks of a lower car better but it really jacks up your car overall throws the whole dynamic off also when you're running a car with a plastic oil pan? Lowering the car may not be a good idea. To each their own 😎
Mine came out nice last week. The only thing I missed, that I see you guys disconnected, was the clip for the coolant sensor on the back of the radiator. DOH! It pulled the 2 wires out of the clip... Ordered a replacement with the wiring included on E-Bay. CEL till next week I guess. Thanks for the great work!
@@Boopybopbeep I have them, the light output is far superior and they look better visually imo. Only downside is that they don't steer with the wheel like oem units but every car I've had in the past those break and it's an expensive fix for a feature with limited usefulness.
Love the videos! Just getting into modding cars and watching these videos makes me wanna go broke and buy all these parts for my GTI😂 . Once i save up im gonna go one at a time with these upgrades because they aren’t cheap at all
Bro I have a 2017 Volkswagen Passat R-Line With the 1.8 L four-cylinder turbo I have stage two upgrade by APRAPR down Pike custom exhaust and intake a one to get in in the cooler and put it on do you think the process with that particular car is the same with the GTI hit me up let me know thanks prescient you!
So i installed a throttle pipe on a 14 VW CC and now when i come to a stop my rpm’s drop and bounce back up to normal idle levels. It’s gotten so low that sometimes it stalls the engine. Why is that doing it when it’s supposed to help the car breathe better?
horsepower wise you might only see a 20-30 increase (with a map) but it will keep the engine from heat surging if you drive it hard for example on track.
The way you let the ac condenser just wing it on the ground like that.... I guess if you can throw it around like that I don't have to worry too much about it shifting... lol Also I have seen if you place each part up starting at the radiator you don't have to manhandle the whole 3 stack at once.
Is there any real advantage or disadvantage of going with Unitronic or APR? I know Uni is from Canada and APR is USA, but other than that, quality seems to be equal as well as tuning software. Or am I missing something?
I had a stage 3 focus st and I loved that car so much but I got a 2017 DSG GTI and don't regret it one bit. I'm Unitronic stage 2 with turbo back exhaust and a couple other little things and this car is so much fun and surprises a lot of people.
I have a question, so I just install a FMIC on my mk7 that’s meant for a is38 but I have the stock is20 turbo. I bought it used for a good deal and I was wonder will it damage my car in any way? Should I have gotten the is20 fmic? Thanks
do88 makes the best intercooler by far both in terms of fitment and performance and its priced quite well, you dont need to change the chargepipes its a waste of money.
@@KasamS I´ve installed one on my friends car. You need to trim a tiny bit of plastic and cut the metal bracket for the AC a tiny bit aswell. As long as you have an angle grinder its easy work as instructions are included with the cooler.
You would get more power out of both Stages with an intercooler. It’s recommended to get an intercooler but not required . You will not get advertised power without intercooler but still more power than stock (without tune)

Brother, you took the whole car apart for two mods!!!! what the heck to do mean when you say "It's not that intimidating" 🤣
Trust me dawg it fuckin sucks, I shoulda paid someone 🤦🏿♂️😂
Yeah man I watched your video on unitronic tune and you were pretty much right one BIG thing tho is that you can’t let your comp go into sleep mode
Just got a GTI lookin forward to modding it, so thanks for this awesome video!
Love the vids. Get it lowered and get some wheels
I know it’s the stock wheels, but I love those

Basically have to remove the car from the intercooler. Ouch

I took headlights off when i did it. Just felt easier and had more room.
Keep the good videos coming man. Did you get the s or se trim?
Would you suggest a whole new intercooler over combining the stock intercooler with a twintercooler
from my research, if you ever plan to go big turbo, stock placement is best way to go. specifically the do88
I wonder if the baffles in the stock charge pipea are to smooth airflow

Is it worth upgrading the intercooler with the stock is20 turbo or would it only be beneficial if you're going to swap to a bigger turbo?
horsepower wise you might only see a 20-30 increase (with a map) but it will keep the engine from heat surging if you drive it hard for example on track.
Non-track, keep the factory intercooler, but upgrading charge pipes and turbo inlet will allow for better flow and noticeable response.
@@Mike-mz9cm do you need a tune for this?

Makes me wanna sell my stage 3 focus and get a dsg golf r or gti
It would definitely be a fun switch up!
Same here Cade but I got a st3 2018 in diamond metallic blue man that color is jaw dropping in sun

I sold my big turbo focus ST for a GLI w/ DSG , no regrets
After seeing how complex and expensive it is to mod a GTi, I'm good with my ST. Takes 45min to install an IC in one 😂
Were did you lift it front the dogbone mount
Should’ve gotten ARM front mount intercooler, I’ve gained a good amount of boost and torque + power, or thread stones which are god like
I love a GTI. I'm saving up for a VW Up! GTI. Less than 1000kg car with almost 145hp😁. A Golf 6/7 GTI is too expensive for me😒
And for your golf gti some front and rear led lights would look very good😁
Wait until he gets an is38, tires are gonna b spinnin but when it hooks up it's gonna b nice.
would getting a better intercooler also help it breathe?

There’s no intercoolers for specific turbos just power ratings. If your inter cooler is rated for is38 turbo setups then your fine
intake a turbo kit?
Is the oem intercooler inadequate for power gains? I also see people using taller inter coolers or shorter ones. Which one is best to use
do88 makes the best intercooler by far both in terms of fitment and performance and its priced quite well, you dont need to change the chargepipes its a waste of money.

I heard charge pipes were for sound only and has next to 0 performance benefits
There is some truth to that the upgraded charge pipes are more for reducing turbo lag and faster spools
Yeah that intercooler sandwich is a pain.

I think he just uses them because their very popular in the golf gti world of things
had my gti for about 3 weeks until the engine and turbo blew up😂
All this just to install some charge pipes and an intercooler. Yikes. Makes me feel grateful to have an ST. So much simpler..
Still have that ST?
