I'm curious... We've got a tractor that blows a small amount of blue smoke for about 15 - 30 second after the first start. It has a light knock during that time and then it goes to normal with no smoke, no knock either. Could this all be due to a valve seal letting some oil into the combustion chamber? (It only has 400 hours on it too.)

Awesome video thank you sir. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins. Yesterday I saw blue smoke when I left the light. Stop at another stop light a black car was behind me light turned green clearly saw blue smoke again is the valve issue or my turbo. Thank you

I got a question if it only smokes during acceleration would that put the piston rings out of the equation? I got a 2008 GMC C6500 with the c7 Caterpillar. And it pretty much smokes only if you are accelerating.
If the amount of blue smoke increases during acceleration, it is highly possible a failure in the seal of the turbo-charger (Cold side). With respect to the rings, the only way to know if the rings are sealing properly is with o compression test.
@@MrLopezclasses out there working on it today and I confirm that there is very little blow by checking the breather tube that basically goes under the truck. Look pretty normal hardly any vapor coming out at idle. I know if there's any blow-by happening you'll see it coming out of the breather quite heavy like some of the videos out there by adept ape. One of the videos he shows the breather just bellowing oil vapor and I believe it was some kind of motor home.
Yes, this small amount of vapor coming out in idle indicates wear rings. I recommend two things. first, try to do a compression test. Two. Could you take an oil sample to analyze at the Lab? With the oil sample report, we can discover where is precisely the problem.

@@MrLopezclasses yesterday I was working on it I pulled the valve cover off and found number 5 exhaust valve rocker had no valve lash. Actually it was holding the valve open on the Base circle of the camshaft. So I went ahead and adjusted the exhaust valve lash to .025. still seems to be a skip in that number 5 cylinder when starting. The question is now how come that exhaust valve lost its lash. I did go ahead and readjust lash at all the valves. Also with the Snap-On scanner we're able to do a cylinder cut and number five cylinder was totally different than the rest. Seems like there was still some kind of change in RPM when we did a cylinder cut on number 5. I am going to proceed in pulling the cylinder head off.
what if blue smoke only on cold start?
Check your pcv system. My intake manifold would accumulate oil overnight.
I thought I had to replace stem seals.😨
Like some antique/older locomotive engines?
i sold the car. not worth money to repair it.
