  • Growing supplies of liquefied natural gas from the United States and other countries has dramatic implications for global gas markets, especially around pricing and flexibility of delivery. The changes underway will have important implications for traditional dominant players such as Russia, one of the top suppliers of gas to Europe.
Please join the Center on Global Energy Policy for a public event with Dr. Tatiana Mitrova, Director of the SKOLKOVO Energy Centre in Moscow and CGEP Fellow, for a presentation on her upcoming study which examines how Russia’s Gazprom will respond to rising competition from new LNG producers. After a brief presentation we will move to a discussion moderated by Amy Jaffe, David M. Rubenstein senior fellow for energy and the environment and director of the Energy Security and Climate Change program at the Council on Foreign Relations. Ira Joseph, CGEP Fellow & Global Head, Gas & Power Analytics, S&P Global Platts and Dr. Timothy Frye, Chair of the Department of Political Science and Marshall Shulman Professor of Post-Soviet Politics at Columbia University, will also join the panel discussion.

Exceptional presentation by Tatiana Mitrova. I read their SIPA report. Her analysis is highly relevant even today. Mitrova is a gifted analyst - and communicator.

This is one of the most informative presentations I have seen on these matters. In recent times I have been reading up on shale, China, and the new era that is replacing the post WWII era. I think things are developing nicely. The world could have become more dangerous had USA not stumbled, nearly by accident, upon massive shale reserves. Now there is enough for everyone. Hydrocarbons are now nearly totally commoditized.
If we Trumpsters can dissuade Democrats from declaring war on Russia everything should be fine.

shale wont last long and the USA needs the gas itself. prices in America will be much higher if it starts exporting much of it.

Generally nothing new regarding LNG/gas market development, but the way Tatiana deliver her speech make me proud we have such educated persons to represent Russia in US. Not mentioned Turkey’s progress in becoming new gas hub from Russia, Turkmenistan and Iran.Sakhalin, Yamal LNG is truly one of top notch achievements of Putin era, from which Russian people will benefits for decades, as well as pipelines to China. It will help Russia finally to change its economy dependence from oil and gas, to become more technologically based

How sanctions works... Russian LNG from Yamal transferred in STS operations, or by shore terminals in France and Netherlands and delivered to Jordan’s FSRU, despite this country is proud US ally, and from last year ‘must’ buy from Sabin Pass or Cove Point. Political circus

Great presentation of Dr. Mitrova, extremely exhaustive and detailed forecast of the World Gas market. I am happy to see such an unbiased material without being influenced by the American manipulation and deception. Truly, Russia will be the hegemonic power, even without exceeding its 33% share of the European market.
    Much obliged again, Dr. Mitrova!!!
