I have a low hour John Deere 4200 front end loader, runs great all I do is change oil every spring. Would like to buy a "orange" tractor with a backhoe but they are out of their mind with the prices. Plus my 2003 compact don't use DEF. I'll go back to using my Farmall "A" before paying 40 thousand for a new tractor. They have priced their selves out the market.
The JD 4200 is a good example of an American made tractor that was overbuilt and nearly bulletproof. I think manufacturers realized they needed more repeat customers and one method for bringing their buyers back was "planned obsolescence". Thanks for tuning in!
In years past, it wasn't unheard of to park a tractor in the field after harvest and go back out in the spring when it was time to plant. Thanks for tuning in.
I bought a Kubota L2502 in 2024 ,it was just the right time for me. The last 4 years have been an assault on the middle class that buy most of the goods in the US.
Exactly! The 20 year olds are not able to access the middle middle class are due to insane housing costs. This will end America in just 20 short years. No middle middle? No retail….
I bought a 2018 M-F 1526 diesel rated at 24.8 hp with a fel in 2018 new paid cash still has very low hrs. I'm quite surprised at what I could get for it today; Which is more than what I paid for it, & I have a 1959 M-F 50 gasser that gets used year round. Both tractors are priceless to me, & thank goodness I have no need for a newer tractor. I just got lucky when I decided buy a new tractor when I did.
Out here in the midwest something in the 50 - 70 HP range costs more than older 150 - 200 HP field tractors by a factor of 3 or more. All of our tractors were 3x the size we needed but the prices made using them super cheap to own and run.
I bought my Kioti CK2620 a month ago for a little over 21 thousand with front loader bucket and quick change. Seemed like it was a great deal to me. Like everything about the tractor so far. It's rated to pick almost a ton and I have no doubt it would. My 2 cents.
People had to go back to work and lost all their free handout money from COVID so they don't have all the unearned money to play farmville with is what happened.
@@wildbill23c Ever think the ones "sitting on their asses" had no choice ? A lot of people didn't work because they couldn't. I worked through it all too. We lost our overtime was all. I regret selling my MF subcompact tractor. I sold it in 2018 after two years of use for the same price I paid. Now to replace it I will need to spend double.
Compact tractors are too often way to expensive. I really want one but not for the price of new one. Its a pure profit machine for these tractor companies. The big tractors are mich cheaper per pound/horsepower.

Australians have a lot of problems to deal with in 2025. However one problem we don’t have to worry about is our government deciding little diesel engines will destroy the world. I have a Kubota 52HP tractor bought in 2021. It has no strange and expensive cans sitting next to the engine. There are no weird buttons on the dash.
The problem is the price is up on these tractors and the companies won’t add in anything like they used to do and then you have computers in these tractors which is useless on small tractors .And in 15 years from now are you going to be able to get parts
I sell Deere for a living and during the covid / post covid in I sold 3 1025R tractors in a day and then would typically sell 2 to 3 more throughout the week it was crazy.
I just sold my Mahindra 2816 sub compact tractor as it was too light and underpowered for my needs. I bought a Mahindra 6075 at a lower price than a compact tractor of half the horse power.
I notice JD has the most plastic on compacts. My 2021 Kioti CK3510 gets twice the hours on same amount of fuel then my 07 Kubota ever did, but I dont like the regen crap.........
Anyone else out there waiting for the folks at D.O.E. to get the the replacement Bellcrank ,that was maid of Aliminium and only the Slouths at the shop are allowed to replace it? 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢send it to me in the mail and I'll change it myself! 😊😊
Its a race to top everyone wants just a bit more capacity. Oh I spend a bit more I can get more capacity. 0% financing is available through dealer oem financing. People just don't have extra money for a auxiliary equipment. Inflation is a evil mistress
@ so, it depends on attachments. We have a wheeled s220 a tracked T770 and a little 34hp John deer compact tractor. The tractor is best for mowing. I choose the skid steers for all other tasks and it’s not even close, so, as always, YMMV.
Been looking at what to do this week. Have a 1973 Massey that is 85 hp with a cab, weight is 12k with loader on it. So, i want to go smaller. I believe i will go with an old 3010 or similar before i pay 30-40k for a 40 hp cimpact tractor. Looking to get 10k for mine and spend 15 to set up a smaller one, so about 5k out of pocket.
I cannot believe people buy these little tractors. They are all junk and do absolutely nothing well. I tried them all and eventually bought a used Bobcat S185 skid loader with under 1,000 hours on it. I paid $15,000 cash. Has a 56 hp Kubota turbo diesel engine. I dug out a house foundation into the side of a hill with it and have run a variety of attachments including a mower. It is superior to a compact tractor in every single way. For cutting grass I bought a commercial zero turn and combining that with the cost of the skid loader I still spent less than what a Kubota compact would be. Get a better quality cut too. Be patient and try to find a good skid loader. The prices have really come down on them I’ve noticed in the last 8-12 months. Guys on Marketplace can’t sell them and are starting to be more reasonable.
I still have my beloved Deere 1050. Being an 88' she's the best they ever were with all the updates and upgrades. Listed as 37hp but anyone in the know knows it's deeres most underrated proportionate to size it's really 44 to 46hp Sliding gear trans, 75 fel, model 8 quick attack backhoe, mfwd it's the most reliable deere ever sold in have read and heard. She's as strong and reliable as money can buy but she lacks ANY creature comforts lol
You are an idiot, I have a 100 acre farm and raise all my vegetables plus enough extra to sell to cover my planting cost. I raise 3 acres of sweet corn which is my cash crop. I'm retired on a fixed income and having this small farm makes life a .lot easier and yes I use my John Deere 3032 almost every day.

The new compacts/sub-compacts are extremely fragile, but they charge like they're heavy construction equipment.

Same thing that happened to small pickups - the EPA.
Let’s just say they cost too much. The only people who can afford them now are hipster people who are about how organic their corn is

Add having to use DEF to your list. Not a good thing for a tractor owner. Always something wrong with it. Expensive to maintain
DEF is not required on units under 75HP

A decent used skid steer is so much more useful and versatile than one of these tractors.
This has been my experience. Fully agree. Especially if you build anything that needs dirt work!

The volume drops could be related to demographic ageing as the abay boomers are getting too old to buy and use them as much
