This is why we went with a diesel-Freightliner has been great and they are everywhere-No problems-I heard about these issues with Ford a few years ago so that really turned us toward the diesels -We haven’t had any issues getting our diesel serviced 😅-Hope you get it sorted out 😃🚌🇺🇸
Thanks for sharing. I’m loving the channel. Thanks for documenting your journey with your new rig. I’m surprised about Ford and getting your rig serviced. I will look up the REV Group company. Thanks again
Thank you!! And happy to share, you never know who it will help or inspire to get going on their own rigs! And I had expected this somewhat with Ford, but frustrating, nevertheless!
Endless RVing, Izzy & MJ, have a Bay Star (gas), and they have talked about the lack of service for the Ford chassis. That’s one of the biggest reasons I would not buy a gasser. We are looking for a used late model diesel pusher. The prices are falling.
I'll have to check that out. Thankfully, we have a plan in place, it was just less than ideal getting to this point! And I don't blame you! It's about time those prices drop a bit, I'm sure you'll get a great deal, especially if you wait just a bit longer. The market needs to even out and I think many folks are afraid to drop their private sale prices too low and miss out on a good profit. I'm excited to see what you get!
I can’t be the only one who stores my “stinky slinky” inside the storage compartment… just use the caps that your hose came with and it’s sealed tight!
We considered picking up some of those caps, but now with this 90 degree elbow, I can't turn back! 😂 After some of the dump station incidents, this is a real game changer! lol We'll find something the right size, but a bag will do for now!
Northside Ford Truck Sales on Columbia Blvd in Portland will work on your Motorhome. They do warranty repairs. Have used them twice since owning my Southwind on F53 Ford chassis. Give them a call.
Thanks for that tip!! We actually gave them a call before this video, they'll definitely work on it. It makes sense that they were scheduling a while out, being the only place in the area that will even work on these rigs, so we'll keep them in mind for the future! I'd like to find something within 200 miles and that wouldn't need to keep it for at least 10 days - those two things kept us from actually scheduling the appointment. However, after so many calls, we did find a spot that will work with us, a non-Ford shop, so we'll have a whole solution for folks in the same situation as we've found ourselves in!
We got a 2023 holiday rambler eclipse 35r. We're taking ours to Rev in Decatur Indiana may 9th. Hope we have the same results as you all did. We have alot of electrical issues to get fixed .thanks for sharing your journey with your new HR
That's great! And I'm sure you'll have no problem at all. These folks seem to know what they're doing, and the customer service from REV has been nothing but phenomenal!
I think your new RV looks real good very nice 🚍. It was nice to see Emma make it down to Arizona to pick up your new RV . I like our 2020 Jayco 28 footer trailer it is nice for us. We plan to go to coosbay Oregon to camp this summer then drop down to Brooking Oregon to camp then down to crescent city. Then home 🏠. Then in August we go south to San Louis to tour wineries tours. Very cool Rig 😎
Thank you! We've been loving it! And she was so excited to get down there in the warmer weather, even if only for a few days! And that's fantastic, I'm sure you're going to love that trip! Sounds wonderful.
Congrats, safe travels and Nice Rig. Hopefully the Poulsbo referral works for you. I think Way Scarff in Auburn might be able to help you out. I actually got in touch with the motorhome assistance center at Ford and they expedited my catalytic converter order for me. Good Luck and stay warm.
Thank you!! And EVERYONE had recommended Scarff within 50 miles of this area. But funny enough, Auburn wouldn't touch it. I called them twice and Emma called them once just to confirm that someone wasn't mistaken, but that's the case! After speaking with four folks at the Ford motorhome support division, I finally got someone who seemed to care and had some real answers for us! And same to you! ❄️
Good morning. Ford🤦. I thought you start with the gray tank just to make sure nothing is leaking and all is secure then close the gray and open the black. When you finished with the blak then you open the gray again and was the stinky. But I'm probably wrong. Safe driving and stay happy as you are. 😊
Good morning! Yeah, Ford is on my naughty list right now lol and I've never heard of that... I suppose you COULD, but once you get a feel for everything, you know if you're going to have a leak or not! If something feels off, then that's always an option but otherwise: connect the hose, pull black, pull grey!
Good morning guys ! I’m sooo glad your experience with Rev Group was such a positive one 👍 As we discussed I’ve been calling Ford facilities all over with the same negative result. It’s so amazing how Ford supplies all the RV brands with their chassis and offer no solution especially for warranty work 🤷🏻♂️ As I was watching this mornings video I noticed the Penske Rental place in the background. I wonder what companies like them do when their vehicles are new and need warranty work ? I know those trucks in some cases are as big as some motorhomes, but still large nevertheless. Very very frustrating 😡🤬
Good (late) morning! And isn't that insane? They'll build them but not ensure serviceability... I suppose that's the beauty of the free market though, so long as Ford holds up their warranty with third party services. That is a good question about the Penske trucks, and I know most of those out here in Washington will contract with third party mechanics or have on-site mechanics work on them, but I'll have to do some asking around next time I see them just to see if there's a tip in there!
Getting a class A chassis work done is a nightmare . That's why i got rid of mine and got a class C now They are a little bit easier to find some one to work on them. Make sure you have some kind of towing insurance in case you do breakdown along the highway It takes one of those heavy semi truck wreckers to tow that beast. And you don't want to pay that bill out of pocket
You know, the frustrating thing is that it was the same exact process with our class C! The Esteem was about a foot shorter, but still almost 33' long, so I'm not sure which of those factors played a role, but I'd imagine it's our specific area in Washington that's especially limited for us. Tow insurance is a must and they even cover rentals and hotels, thankfully! All set there, but good advice!
@@CozyLivingMachine I have talked to some motorhome owners to find out how they handle repairs to the chassis part of there unit. And to my surprise I came across a hand full that said when you reach 30 K on the odometer start thing about your next rig , then at 50 K pull the trigger and get a new one. That way the odds of a major repair are less likely. Not sure if its good or bad advice ?
I'm sure if you're not full timers, it would make a lot of sense that down the road, by the time you're hitting those numbers, it's probably been with you for long enough! Many people don't even put on 5k miles each year. But boy would that get expensive fast... That's not what we'll be following but I can understand folks' reasons!
I have heard the same complaints from other RVers on TH-cam. Doesn't give me warm fuzzy feeling about motorhome. One suggestion would National RV center do both? I follow Endless RVing, they have podcast on same issues.
I haven't heard of it yet, but it makes a lot of sense. Ford not being one bit surprised about this had my blood boiling. We'll have a whole video on how to get warranty service done on the motorhome once we've actually completed everything successfully with our plan, but I'm with you, no warm, fuzzy feelings at all. NIRVC sounds like an awesome resource, I'll have to keep that in mind for when we're closer to one! Good to know. And I'll check out Endless RVing's channel as well!
Great video... I agree with BrianAZ, most eye opening videos yet. It would be so nice if there was one repair facility that worked on any RV, any 5th wheel, or Semi Truck... I'm not sure about this, but I think you may be able to get service locally at the Freightliner Center in Sumner. Its HUGE, the repair facility is as large as 2 Football Fields... Sorry to hear that you are already having problems with the New RV. I'm sorry, its way too soon to be having any issues with it... The nice part is no more rattles... Now one sensitive question... When you dump your black tank, aren't you supposed to hook up the non potable water hose to rinse out the black tank ? Long live Taco Bell !!! You should do the Descend on Bend festival in Oregon. I guarantee you you will be the Envy of the RV Community... LOL Welcome back home
Thank you! And you'll see our workaround and review of the shop that we did choose, I see that they work on all rigs! The Freightliner center... I hadn't thought of that but I'll have to give them a call. Having a gas, they may not work with us, but it's worth a shot! For the black tank rinse, you can certainly do that, but we do it so rarely just because it doesn't make a difference at all for our uses. We're not letting things sit for long and full-timing just means that it'll get used again shortly. However, we use our rinse if we're noticing more smells (summer heat!) and we want to make sure we're doing all that we can or we might have concerns about a clog or something like that being imminent. Otherwise, we keep it simple and pull the black, then the grey to rinse, and then we're done! LONG LIVE TACO BELL!! 🌮🔔🌮🔔🌮🔔 We would love to do "Descend on Bend", that's a goal!!
@@CozyLivingMachine I would be worried about your E Bikes getting stolen, Descend on Bend is a Hippie Festival, but still kinda cool... LOL Check out this video, th-cam.com/video/FtvABi7assE/w-d-xo.html 13:43 of that video is the cool part of the video, if you don't want to watch the whole thing... Now the important discussions... As far as Taco Bell, what is your favorite item ? For me, its the Beef Soft Taco Supreme, with extra sour creme, and extra beef, with Nacho Fries and a Diet Coke or Pepsi... LOL Are you gonna have a Sunday live chat tonight ?
Oh yeah. We definitely wouldn't fit in there, but it would be cool to visit. Just gotta keep an eye on our bikes. 😂 And as for the best thing there, I would say the beefy 5 layer burrito and that new "crispy taco" that they have. SO good. It used to be the double decker taco and a bag of Doritos, I actually lost 40 pounds eating just one of those meals with a Baja blast each day, but they took my favorite things away. Along with the dang Nacho Fries. 😭😭
While I get your assigning blame of the ford service problems 100% on ford I believe REV group should maintain some responsibility to pressure ford. They are fords customer after all - that is the only way the situation will get fixed. REV should stand up for their customers and require ford maintain a certain amount of servicing dealers in each state or not buy their chassis anymore. That would be the only way to get fords attention.
I absolutely get your perspective and you're probably right! Though that's even an even bigger issue as well being that there are so many companies that use the F-53 chassis from RVs to delivery trucks to food trucks, etc. They would have to all go "on strike" or risk losing some of the benefits of working with Ford and being a business customer. Nothing is impossible though!
Ironically my gulfstream class C is ford and 34 foot bumper to bumper. I have an independent shop where I live whom will work on my Ford chassis and a ford dealership who has huge bays and does work on commercial and privately owned like mine. The other ford dealership’s can fix but won’t because they will not work on it in their lot. According to them it has to go inside no matter it a motorhome or whatever. Seems a corporation rule. My coach is a 2021 and the independent shop put a new catalytic converter in cause theives got it and Ford doe’s warranty and oil changes and so forth . As for the rv dealership by me they always say it’s gonna be so much time, gotta get a part and blah blah blah. I push on them and tell them that it’s at best a 1 to 2 hour job and they’re is no excuse to tell me it’s gonna be three weeks or some other stupid excuse so that said they cave it and typically get it done. I’m sure the manager hates me but hey, at least he’s gotta job.
Oh interesting! I might have to find a shop nearby and put on the pressure... Some of these things don't have to be done in a bay at all, of course! And that's such a good point - this is all good money they're making for this service, I'm amazed it has to be this tough!
