Oftentimes, the most significant aspect of a serious injury is the EMOTIONAL component. The sense of loss can be truly disabling. Pickle filled that void for Koda and brought joy and meaning back into her life. Beautiful!

Absolutely agree. Tuxedos are crepuscular hunters because of their coloration, ESPECIALLY the grey variants, which makes them rely more on observation and cognition than just instinct. We miss ours terribly.

Are they also affectionate? I had a tuxedo kitten once who was really the best! Most chill cat I've ever seen. More like a puppy in approaching others and wanting to play with everyone and everything BUT she was never affectionate. In the five months that I fostered her since birth she never once showed affection towards me or anyone else. She had no problem being held, kissed or picked up but she would not initiate or accept affection. I'm thinking it could be a trait of tuxedo cats? Since you have three maybe you could tell from experience?
My golden, Ollie, had the exact same thing happen to him. Got hit by a car and had his front left leg paralyzed from nerve damage. He went through months of physical therapy but he wouldn’t get physically better. Because he couldn’t feel that leg, he kept on hitting it and injuring it more and more to the point we reluctantly had to get it amputated. He’s a completely different dog now, in a good way. He’s even happier than he was before, stronger, and even cuter as well. I’m so happy that he’s still in my life :)
Poor pooch was traumatized by the accident--understandably. Pickle gave Koda a new lease on life.

It has always amazed me that you can have dogs of a very dominant breed, notoriously hard to handle, and bring in a cat and they will immediately become obedient - to the cat.
Still amazes me how many cats and dogs there are, but how unique each one really is. ❤

This one is especially meaningful to me because in the 1970s I worked at an extra fine radio station in Houston TX with the call sign KODA (AM&FM). Those were wonderful years, and this is a really sweet video.
Koda went on a little adventure, got badly hurt, and lost all sense of safety and security in the world. Along came tiny Mr. Adventurous Mischief who showed her it was still perfectly ok, and safe, to color outside the lines from time to time. Bravo to everyone involved.

Its true with some and not with others. I had a couple of cats who adored my dog, then a couple who could of cared less. It's all in the individual personality of the animal.

This is SO GRAND!! I wanted the video to go on forever. What a wonderful Mom you are to both , and Pickles has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE in Koda life. We humans don't realize how connected animals are to each other. We think we suffice, and in Koda case we know she needed that constant 24/7 watch, attention, TLC.

We can learn so much from these 2. They love each despite all their differences. The world would be a better place if we could just follow their lead.

Then, bless her heart, PTSD takes over and here comes Pickle. "Pickle"? OMG the name was the first clue as to this kitty's everything - what a delightful character of a feline is Pickle!
