I love that they showed Joel in the coffin to show the regret some people have when they commit suicide. They say when some people commit suicide during the seconds or minutes when their life is ending they have a change of mind and try to get out of it but it's already too late. I think that's what Joel represents.

Unfortunately this is true. When I attempted suicide that was a massive amount of fear and desperation when I couldn't get the bleeding to stop.

The song you're referring to is off the album 'Misery' which would follow the lead singles 'Ivy (Doomsday)', 'Feels Like I'm Dying' and to wrap up the singles off the album, 'D.I.E.' Which follow a story for the 'Misery' Album cycle which was written by Joel, to interpret an Australian underdog story about someone going against sexual/domestic abuse to protect someone close to them. ive never really thought about it but amity affliction is probably the most conscious band ive ever heard, their songs are relatable to a point on different levels from many different walks of life and situations. the way they compose certain songs is incredible and breathes life while touching on the loss of it. truly helps with the struggle and im grateful for these dudes

I wasn't at all trying to say I'm better than anybody. I just thought it was cool because I was LITERALLY listening to this song back when I was in high school and it takes me back. I think it's cool that I've grown up and I'm still into this song and this band.

maybe I'm over thinking it but, the video seems like he's "trapped" inside his emotions and depression and his friends sense something is wrong with him but not to the extent of suicide, but when they finally realize what he's going through they rush to help him only to find that it's too late, he tried to fight his depression but no matter how hard he fought he couldn't do it alone and they realized it too late

0:52 sounds like one of Ahren's growls. I really like it when he adds screaming and growls to live perfomances, it makes songs even more special, so it's always good when they somewhat incorporate them in their recorded songs. ^^,
I never realized how amazing this song and album was until I listened for a second time. It's just incredible... I can't believe people are saying this sound like LTOTM, because it has a completely different sound, in my opinion. It is one the best post hardcore albums out there.

This band is a straight masterpiece.
I was trying to figure what yhe fuck this video was about but then I realized they aren't talking about physical distance or suicide. I think the message their trying to send is how we condemn our friends, and by the time we try to fix it or make it right it's too late. You think you're doing that right thing by burning that bridge and burying that relationship. But suddenly you realize you needed them more then you thought. You never know what's going on in someone's mind, you dont know their feelings or their stories. We are so quick to judge and push away those we don't understand, if one doesn't see past the obvious they'll never see the beauty hidden beneath.

It never ceases to amaze me that nearly every Amity Affliction song hits me right in the feels. I remember the first song I herad by them and where I was when I heard it. It was Open Letter and I heard on Sirius XM radio in my room. I was having a hard summer and I heard they were releasing a new album Let the Ocean Take Me. I listened to the entire album all summer long and they became one of my favorite artists.

over the last month i have lost my cousin(brother to me) who taught me about music and tattoos etc and my gran, this series of videos has been over whelming.
Ever since i saw these guys live, ive been a fan. They are awesome live, and i love their lyrics and what they stand for.

This album was what kept me going and kept some sort of life within myself when I was at the lowest point in my life , homeless, I had a very bad heroin addiction,another drug addict called child services and told them a bunch of lies cause I quit selling him drugs and child services took my kid away from me. All that has changed I have my kid back as well as another one I’ve been clean for almost 5 years. I often come back to this album to remind me of where I have been and where I don’t wanna go back to being in life I love this band anyways, it saved mine and any other peoples lives. I know it’s not right to put that on any van or band member cause that in and of itself it is a burden, do you have that many peoples lives affected by your music but I think without this band more specifically this album, I don’t know that I would’ve made it through those times. If Joel is a super cool guy, I’ve met him twice in Denver Colorado. Once I see him spray painting the back of the venue he was playing and got him to sign some thing for my wife and the second time I snuck underneath the semi trailer at work tour and he signed my wife’s arm which she then went and got tattooed, we’d love to meet the other band members but just haven’t had the funds to do so every time they come here to meet and greet passes, but it will happen one day! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love this, they have kind of evolved into a melodic hardcore type sound and they pull it off so well.
