  • We make some budget camber plates work with our Solowerks S1 coilovers. The results are perfect and offer another level of adjustment to the new suspension.
    Make sure you review the steps and understand you are walking a fine line in terms of tolerances.
    Common problems with camber plates are binding at the pillow ball, binding at the spring, clunking with excessive noise and premature wear on the strut / coil-over valving.

    My camber plates didn't come with that top bushing it only came with washer and the lower bushing so could i get a piece of pipe that's the same diamimer as the lower bushing and file it so it comes up just above the pillow ball and then put the washer on that it came with would that have the same effect of not pinching the pillow ball and letting the plate spin freely

    Some grease would help in making this last longer. As the weight of the car will wear down the spacer.

    Love the video.
    Ever since I put coilovers on my 2012 Audi A7 no one can find the clunking noise. You think your video will help ?

    I think your video is great I just don’t know enough about other camera plates to make my own I bought a lowering kit for a 2002 Buick regal it didn’t come with upper camber plates and they don’t offer any for some reason so I was wondering if you had any input on what I could do to get my max speed coil over I think that’s what it’s called it says it’s for a 9704 Buick regal so I bought it but I don’t know how to make an eBay top hat I mean camber plate work with the holes that I have or can I drill new holes Mirroring both sides I believe I’m asking the right person and asking the company is a nightmare they don’t want to do returns so I’m stuck with them so I wanna make them work I just don’t know how the rear I’m not too worried about because it doesn’t have the twist the front does and right now he uses that first strike you show and I need to build something like the second one you’re doing but for an 02 Buick Regal And I’m not sure what steps to take first thank you sir

      See if your stock upper strut mounts work on the coils. If so use them.

    is this the way all pillowball plates should be mounted? Some "mechanics" are telling me that I should just torque the top nut on the pillowball to spec
    ...I'm kinda lost here 😕

    • @114RIDES
      @114RIDES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mechanics are 100% correct. Torque to spec and don’t pinch the pillow ball. Use bushings to achieve this.

    Hi Sir I have an 02 Buick regal that I got a coil overs for but it does not come with upper front caster camber plates or rear is actually but they don’t twist so I think I can make my own personally but the front I need help with because I don’t know that much about them and they don’t offer the upper caster camber plates for the Buick W body that I know of so I was wondering if you could help me I would really appreciate your help sir thank you very much

    I hear I need rack and pinion needs to be replaced
    Also I’ve replaced upper and lower control arms. Could be sway bar or stabilizer link ??
    Not sure wtf to do here bro

      Marco check the inner and outer tie rods, jack your car up and shake the wheel left and right. If there is any play this could be the issue. Also on the rack there should be an adjustment bolt to tighten the pinion gear to the rack. I hope this helps and good luck. Double check all the hardware on the coil over install as well.

    So are you saying to make your coilovers fit any car you just gotta get the correct camber plate?

    • @114RIDES
      @114RIDES  ปีที่แล้ว

      No the camber plates and coils are specific to each vehicle.

  • @Jscy4662

    Are the metal sleeves really supposed to spin inside the pillowballs? I thought the pillowballs themselves were supposed to spin when you turn but I got some Maxpeedingrods camber plates for my E36 and the pillowballs are extremely stiff. Do all camber plates follow this principle of having a metal sleeve that spins? Pretty stupid design and I'm surprised so many people seem to run them without modifications and without issues since the sleeves are, like shown in the video, way too long.

    • @114RIDES
      @114RIDES  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pillow balls are not designed to spin with the damper. If you look at a stock setup they have bearings. In this case we are using bushings in place of a bearing to mimic the same design. So far so good on my setup it just needs some elbow grease to work properly.

      Great video on giving the hat the clearance it needs but point has to be incorrect. There's no way a metal collar is supposed to spin inside another metal collar, especially one that's machined with a file. The whole point of the rotating ball assembly is to give you this rotation. I could be wrong as I'm not familiar with coilovers and that's why I'm here, but years of wrenching is telling me this definitely not correct.

    • @Jscy4662
      @Jscy4662 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@arifm.1315 It isn't correct. As I've learnt since commenting on this video, the shaft of the coilover is meant to spin inside its body, with a radial bearing on the top spring plate to make sure the spring does not bind. This is the way coilovers with camber plates come from factory. Though more high quality camber plates also have better quality joints that spin way more easily.
