We’ve always had brothers from Africa, Arabic speaking states, and I saw them day in and day out in Cofetăria Universității. Now, people from outside the very center of Bucharest are very curious- like you suspected-because in communism we could never talk to foreigners! They’re just curious but don’t want to bother you.
Glad you mentioned the furnishings! I was wondering if the apts were already furnished. The rent is for sure affordable compared to what is paid in the U.S. Thanks for spreading the positivity and hope this will inspire others to look beyond their borders for opportunities. It's a big world out there!
Thank you for watching!! I was extremely surprised at the living conditions here In Romania. I’m grateful to have a nice place that is affordable to the average American. Loving my time In this beautiful country !!
Hi Juwan! I'm Romanian and I've been living in Brasov all my life. Also I love basketball and play any chance I get. Your video put me in a very good mood and I'm glad you feel like this about my hometown. Sorry for the staring. Give people one week and they won't stare once they know who you are.
If you're a meat eater, you're gonna be right at home over here! I'll highly recommend you go on a food tour through old town and esp try our sour soups. If there's anything i'd miss if I ever moved to a diff country it'd be our food and especially bread. love to see you feeling good and adjusting!
So nice to see you both just walking around, living, and enjoying it (: actually, totally no disrespect, but you're tall, like, really tall, I'd probably give a stare, too, completely subconsciously (: take care!
Brasov is a quiet and amazing place for couples and families . for single person or for a player bucharest or cluj ( if you have money to spend ) . and what is amazin about brasov , not only the city ...which anyway is amazing but the whole areas around brasov . ( small towns ) .
If you like burgers, try Queue de Cheval (it's a bit more expensive, but AWESOME burgers) -they also have delivery. Also Two Guys have great burgers. Hope you enjoy your stay here and don't mind the stares, most people are just curious :) Peace out!
You can get a shower curtain and a stick to hang it on at most houseware stores, it's not supposed to be without it. You create extra work for yourself if you let it pool on the floor. Most places come without one but you're supposed to buy one :). Also oh my goooooddddd 580euros you paid for that in Brasov? That's a bit pricy I'll be honest. 400-450 euro would be a farer price for a place even furnished that way. Inflation went crazy in some places I guess. Hope you enjoy the town and sights. And don't be afraid to travel outside of town, there's a lot of fun out there (Sighisoara, Sibiu, Sinaia, Bran).
Most people are staring because you look foreign and they are curious to know who you are. I live in a much smaller city, we had a lot of players from different countries, and people were staring at first, then they got used to the idea that some guy from Brazil plays for the local team and lives in their neighborhood, and the staring stopped. You guys have nothing to worry about, enjoy Romania.
Don't fear the mountains, as long as you have strong ankles and the right clothes. The bears and wolves are very unlikely to approach anyone in a group. The air quality will make your life better, and the water from the springs is spectacularly good. These hills will change your life for the better.
Enjoy your stay in Romania, Brasov is a beautiful city, enjoy it. Us as Romanians, we love foreign people. We are curious about their life, country and so on. Go ahead and visit the country. Welcome here!
The Doors in the castles are so small (not because the people were all small ) to prevent x amount of people rushing the doorway at on time so the doorway can be defended at all times from swords and small weapons fire from many individuals.
Hi there! Try to visit the country to not get bored of the same place. Go visit Poiana Brasov, whether u didn't do it already, good restaurants there. Nice traditional restaurant there is Coliba Haiducilor. Use google to find places around, restaurants, also you can check for other videos on TH-cam about Romania and what to visit. Use google translate if you meet some1 who don't speak english and can't understand you. Also for restaurants menu, you can use your phone camera and google will translate the menu for you. Have a nice journey here in RO! Wish you all the best!
People stare because it is rare to see a tall person and since your black too it makes it super intersting for us here in Romania specialy for those who never left the borders of the country. I live next to Brasov and in my opinion Brasov is one of the most beautifull citys in Romania.
Welcome to Romania. My opinion is that Brasov is the nicest town in Romania, the mountains and the town. Not like the US landscape however for Romania standard is the best. Wait for the winter. Brasov is the greatest in the winter. We'll be seeing you in Brasov.
Don’t worry!!!! Well come to Romania 🇷🇴 ❤!!! I’m Romanian and I am “”””” and the people still look strange at me just because !!! You have to be yourself and don’t care to much , in Romania many times happening strange funny stuff 😎🤩 !! Never get boring !
Hi man, welcome to Romania! I recommend to visit the country, it’s a beautiful one. We might cross paths in courts and who knows, maybe you’ll play some day for Sibiu, CSU Sibiu! Cheers
Welcome bruh! You should visit other spots nearby, like the “Dracula” Castle in Bran, is only a few miles away, and with Uber it might cost you like 40 bucks b2b.The winter is gorgeuous in Brasov, especially in Old town. It is a very safe city , you won’t hear gun shots or stuff like that, maybe some traffic fight as you showed in your video , but that’s it. Focus on your training sessions and on your games. Good luck!👍
Hi Juwan. You could go and visit Oradea, it is considered the city with the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in Europe (and hence, the world). As for natural sites, there are plenty to visit, but you cannot miss the Danube Delta (beware of mosquitoes).
580 euros in Brasov for a 2 'rooms' apartment? That's kind of much to be fair, but it seems like a good area I guess. Hope you guys enjoy your stay! :)
Brasov is a a great place to be, especially if you like outdoors, old buildings, there are a lot of fortresses in the area, but if you prefer indoors like malls, go to Bucharest a train ride takes about 3 hours Tip to all foreigners, Romanians have a habit of joking about everything, so take things with a grain of salt
Haha I feel like every video I see of romania is sunny af, I feel like I gotta visit now! And that food? Godamn! I hope you guys enjoy yourselves even half as much as I did watching your video! Nice apartment by the way, that kitchen setup was actually super smooth. Ps. I was checking out if you were right about the fact every place is already furnished and yup you were! Thats actually crazy! Especially for that price.
Well we used to have 4 seasons 20 years ago and it was perfect 3 months of decent winter not too cold, mild summers etc , then we started to go strait from winter to summer, and now we don't even have winter anymore. Now we have 3 months of heatwave in july-august-september, oct-november decent weather, december-january-february some english type of weather witn rain and floods then good weather until july heathwaves start. And some still say there is no such thing as global warmin :( . The apartments are furnished because people that rent don't usually have a lot of money to buy anything else , for us most of the salary goes to rent/utility/food . Plus many people that rent are students that come from the regional parts and again they dont have a lot of money

Welcome to Romania and to Brașov, thank you for your kind words. Enjoy Brașov and everything it has to offer .
Glad to be here!! Thanks for watching!!
Damn, the fact you got scared at that sound is really telling over how it is to live in the US.
Hi Juwan! I'm Romanian and I've been living in Brasov all my life. Also I love basketball and play any chance I get. Your video put me in a very good mood and I'm glad you feel like this about my hometown. Sorry for the staring. Give people one week and they won't stare once they know who you are.
Nice to meet you!! Brasov is a beautiful city, I’m glad I got the chance to live there!
Thanks for watching!! It’s no disrespect at all haha. I’m used to It now.
That was hilarious when the driver started yelling at the other dude😂
Thnx for showing Romania to the brothers back in the States!!!
They deserve to see how beautiful the country is!
Hey man,
Me and my wife want to move to Romania in a couple of years. Love to see your videos!
love to hear It! Romania is a beautiful country & you and your wife should highly consider
@@therealwan We’ll be in Brasov this Christmas, and in Cluj with new years eve:)
Welcome brother! Enjoy it! Awesome country, food and people!!
Glad to be here!!!
Welcome guys! And a piece of advice: read the comments :) Romanians are friendly and they'll give you good tips.
Thank you!! I try to reply to as many comments as I can!!
Bun venit în România! 🇹🇩 Welcome to Romania! 🇹🇩
Welcome to Brasov :) Just randomly found your video :)
I’m glad to be here!! Thank you for watching 🤝
You guys have nothing to worry about, enjoy Romania.
they are staring because he's black
Don't fear the mountains, as long as you have strong ankles and the right clothes. The bears and wolves are very unlikely to approach anyone in a group. The air quality will make your life better, and the water from the springs is spectacularly good. These hills will change your life for the better.
Enjoy your stay in Romania, Brasov is a beautiful city, enjoy it. Us as Romanians, we love foreign people. We are curious about their life, country and so on. Go ahead and visit the country. Welcome here!
Thank you for watching!! I am loving Romania so far! Looking forward to do more exploring
Since the moment i've seen you're a basketball pro, i'm already a fan of yours and subscribed instantly ! welcome and enjoy your stay here !
Welcome aboard! Thank you for watching!!!
The Doors in the castles are so small (not because the people were all small ) to prevent x amount of people rushing the doorway at on time so the doorway can be defended at all times from swords and small weapons fire from many individuals.
Wow this is actually a good idea lol. Thanks for the history lesson 👍🏽
As a Romanian, I'm glad you enjoyed! 🎉
Amazing!
Interesting video Juwan - all the best in Brasov.
We hate each other but we are happy to have new people around the world here with us. 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome to Romania! Happy to have you here, my friend!
Thank you! 😃 super happy to be here!
Brașov the most beautiful city of Romania !!! ♥️💛💙
Love what you’re doing, Juwan. Best of luck and fun over there!
Thank you for watching!!!! 🙏🏽
Nothin’ but love!❤ I wish Y’all the best ✌🏻❤️
Thanks for the love!
You’re welcome! I’m an immigrant myself and I know sometimes it’s needed when you’re far from home.
Hi man, welcome to Romania!
I recommend to visit the country, it’s a beautiful one.
We might cross paths in courts and who knows, maybe you’ll play some day for Sibiu, CSU Sibiu! Cheers
You guys are cute! Good luck and success.
Thank you so much!!
Good luck!👍
I will be going to Draculas castle for Halloween 🎃
@@therealwan stay low profile and avoid blood suckers 😁
Hi Juwan. You could go and visit Oradea, it is considered the city with the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in Europe (and hence, the world). As for natural sites, there are plenty to visit, but you cannot miss the Danube Delta (beware of mosquitoes).
I should be traveling to Oradea soon so I will take advantage of it
Just found your video. Welcome to Brașov!i hope you will feel good and explore the city and all the neighbor cities 😉 what i say.. all Romania😁
Glad you found me! I’m glad to be here In Braşov and I will explore Romania as much as I can
580 euros in Brasov for a 2 'rooms' apartment? That's kind of much to be fair, but it seems like a good area I guess. Hope you guys enjoy your stay! :)
Fair enough!
Welcome to Romania❤
Brasov is a a great place to be, especially if you like outdoors, old buildings, there are a lot of fortresses in the area, but if you prefer indoors like malls, go to Bucharest a train ride takes about 3 hours
Tip to all foreigners, Romanians have a habit of joking about everything, so take things with a grain of salt
I’m loving Braşov! Haven’t been to Bucharest yet but I am looking forward to it
And Sibiu is also a nice cute city and not far away from Brașov
@@vlad8718what city are you from ?
You should go and visit Dracula castle. Enjoy your stay in Romania
I will go there soon!
welcome to Brașov!!
Glad you enjoy Romania
Haha I feel like every video I see of romania is sunny af, I feel like I gotta visit now! And that food? Godamn! I hope you guys enjoy yourselves even half as much as I did watching your video! Nice apartment by the way, that kitchen setup was actually super smooth.
Ps. I was checking out if you were right about the fact every place is already furnished and yup you were! Thats actually crazy! Especially for that price.
You should! Romania is definitely a hidden gem 💎 I would highly recommend. The food is amazing and cost of living is low compared to the U.S.
Brasov is amazing, I just moved here from other part of Romania for studies, because Transylvania University is quite good, is a beautiful, developed and historical city, 6th biggest city in Romania and one of the safest cities in the whole world, is number 37 ! Great to see so much foreigners enjoying it and even moving here, like you, I hope you will enjoy it.
You're such a cool person! Welcome to Romania! I'd like to shoot some hoops with you one day =))
Glad to be here!! Catch me at a local court near you 🏀
Welcome to our lovely County🥰
Glad to be here!
Hi I am so happy for this video , like , subscribe !!! Welcome to my origin Country, Brasov my city ! My dream to move back ❤ , thank you for the amazing vibe 🙏💕💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you so much for the live!!! Brasov is an amazing place! & I’m glad I had the chance to experience It!
Bro you are in a nice city you have beautiful mountains and ancient forest surrounding you just go out and enjoy! I moved to London long time ago but I really miss the safety of my country! People will stair I hope it’s not going to make you uncomfortable, for them you are like a celebrity! One more thing the Romanians like many eastern European are fake rude ( because they are straight forward they are not sugar coating everything but if they ask you how are you? they actually listen, and they genuinely try to help) the western culture its fake kind because they are seem to be nice and kind but most of the time they look out only for themselves! I am so happy for you! Have a nice time in Romania ! I hope many year!
Brasov is my favorite city. I love It here lol. The safety makes me and my family comfortable to live here for sure. I’ve grown to accept the staring as well
Great video! We'll be back in Brasov in March for 3 weeks. My wife's family flat is about a 10 minute walk from the Black Church/historical center/old town. Do you have any home (Brasov) games in March?
(Edit: where did you find a burger in old town?)
Good luck with your career out there and with your fam. I love Romania.
Thank you!! I’m loving It!! Romania is an uncut gem
Shower curtains gather dirt, get splashed with dirt... and are touched more often than the walls and can be less deeply cleaned = why not so used 🙂😉🤗
This makes a lot of sense
You are in one of the most beautiful cities in Romania. Maybe you can visit Timisoara too some time. Enjoy!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I really want to come visit Brasov with the intention of seeing if it's a place I want to live. I'm a white guy but look very different. I'm 6'6", very large, long hair long beard, tattoos from my neck to my ankles. Can't hide much! But I can't thank you enough for your perspective. It's a dream and I'm struggling right now, but I heard your words and I'm going to keep my eyes on the stars. Cheers man.
We are living in the same part of the city! I'm proud.
As a tip, you can try traditional cuisine, it`s very good, worth tasting.
BTW you can buy a cheap shower curtain that's adjustable from wall to wall.
That’s what wifey and I ended up purchasing.
No problem Bro!!!!!!!!!!!!! Romanians are a very nice people. You need just to stay for 3 weeks and you will find a lot of friends. Don't try with older people. They are sometimes so revolted becouse they sons left Romania to work out of the borders
Welcome bro and home you enjoy your time here :D
Thanks! I’m sure that I will
Wow, the food looks delicious 😋
Congratulations you two! Looking forward to the next videos
Thanks so much! New video coming soon
Welcome in our country, J!
🙏🏽
Bine ai venit!
Thank you!!
That 13:35 moment was so funny! Nobody but you reacted to the sound! :))
But I understand, in USA having a gun is like owning a bike.. Here instead, I'm 30 and haven't touched one yet. Have a nice stay!
lol looking back at the moment it’s hilarious. It’s encouraging that I don’t have to worry about gun violence here 😁
I saw you at the airport when you first arrived and waiting for your bags:) I am sorry I didnt say hello:)
lol "phone eats first" that was amazing
Hahaha
Welcome to Romania! Brasov is especially beautiful , happy to see you enjoy it! Greetings from a Romanian from Bucharest
go to meron if you like coffee, it’s near the black church and also try their bananna bread, shmaaaaacks
Good luck bro I hope it goes good
Thank you !!
The driver: " mâncați- as ochii tai!"
Also the driver: "I 'm a very peaceful man" 😂😂😂
Welcome to Rromania man. I saw u like european bread (in sweden) I m curious how do u like romanian bread. (not the one form supermarket)
Romanian bread is AMAZING! I am hooked
bine ai venit!
Thank you!
It's funny, were you there in Brașov in August 2023? My family and I are from NYC and I'm almost certain you, your girl and your friends were at the table next to us.
I am sure that was us because we were always outside lol
@@therealwan how's Brașov treating you?
@@christopherralphbianco4623 I’m not In Brasov anymore, I’m back In the states
Another sweet vlog, love the vibes...
Looking forward to see more...
Have you ever thought to hoop in France...
Keep it up, stay locked in and healthy...
Peace to you and your Mrs ....
I run into your video by coincidence. Welcome to Brasov! I hope you will like it. Btw, I live in the same area as you, in Block 36. :)
PS : Romanians are not racists, they stare at you because you're someone new, not because they judge you negatively, you'll get used to it, just smile and be friendly, they will respond with the same energy back. 🤣
You have to try eating "mici" and "ciorba de burta". Those 2 hit the spot like nothing you ever had.
I’ve had mici but I don’t know what the second option is
@@therealwan You guys would call it tripe soup. We call it "ciorba de burta" but it's not as good everywhere so you would have to ask around where the best tripe soup in the city is and give it a try. Either you really like it or you hate it. If you eat meat and the soup is done right you should like it especially if you had a bunch of alcohol the night before.
as a romanian i can assure you the staring is not disrespectful, its more of a ''what brought you here? foreigners like you find our country dull'' kinda thing. the thing is you are safer here then in any part of america, so relax and enjoy
