It destroys snowflakes. Just at the sound of its beating rotor blades, snowflakes melt, even before they see it!!! Who can live without the snowflakes?
I've been a Flight Nurse Practitioner on both a military Blackhawk and a New Jersey State Police AW139 medical helicopter for 30 years. I have NEVER seen someone stupid enough to try temporary anti-skid coatings or devices on a helipad. In ANY country.
@@CBGSpotter I'll stay away from the UK. Proof comes every day that I see these UK AW169's with totally screwed up medical interiors, set up forward-aft instead of port-starboard. Tough to put your hands on a patient when you have to go out of belt to get there.
In the Marines we used to dump extra sheet metal, nuts and bolts onto our landing zones. Similar to trash days on many carriers where everybody walks the flight deck dropping any garbage they have in their pockets to be shredded by jet intakes and blown overboard. (This video, well you can’t fix stupid)
Cool video. Thanks. An Osprey (Reg 11-0060) flew over my house at 1800ft recently. I'm a Brit Army vet and very familiar with the distinctive sound of Chinooks and Apaches but the sheer noise of this thing at 1800ft was something to behold - it seems much louder, even though the Chinook is twin rotor too.
Why would a hospital helipad be designed for the largest military helicopter when the lagest aircraft they will probably see is a eurocopter. Its like making a GA airport runway the size of heathrow runway incase a a380 lands there one day.
Most UK Medical helicopters are private and run as a Charity. So, the Infrastructure is usually no more than a designated location in a park near the hospital.
Looks to me more like the downwinds/wash from the rotors blew away some loose rubber pads that had been laid on the ground in a field used as an improvised helipad.
I know an osprey would have a significantly stronger downwash than a eurocopter etc. However some of the search and rescue helicopters could land here which would be about the same therefore the area should be designed for this. Potentially very dangerous
No helipad mats were killed in this event. Just rearranged. Its good enough for the standard emergency helicopter, but not full military. I think something was lost in the translation.🤣🇬🇧🇺🇸
USAF paid for the damage, its been replaced with a new temporary pad. (No permanent pad as the new hospital building under construction will block approaches when its completed)
It's not even on the mats. This news crap is the usual rubbish. The mats are there for the stretcher trolleys during rain. They are not meant as a helipad. Idiotic story and some comments.
Replacement helipad. They are using temporary pads rather than concrete ones as a new hospital building is under construction next to the previous pad which means helicopters cant approach the permanent helipad until the building is completed. th-cam.com/video/bItWVRLAmno/w-d-xo.html
The mats decided that withstanding prop wash from an osprey was beyond their job descriptions
Pretty much mate!
The Osprey is well known (or infamous) for their massive downwash. It can even destroy barracks or other simpler buildings.
Yes, its incredible!

Very beefy noises!
My goodness that is fantastic and powerful downcast of force that flew the mat off 😱😎
Cheers mate!
@@CBGSpotter has much welcome bro 😊
That was a most impressive take off of an air ambulance helicopter pad! Do it again!
Lol
Build a proper helipad out of concrete and not yoga mats and this won't happen 😉
Agreed!
Or dont let military helicopters on an air ambulance helipad
This thing isnt even classified as a helicopter, why even land it there
@@non-masturbatingtyrannosau3476 a temporary helipad made out of mats can't handle civilian helicopters either.
@@12Casual I'm pretty sure it was designed to land like a helicopter
Shows how much we invest in UK compared to US. US develop the Osprey; in the UK some mats not even archored = helipad. You guys should see our roads!

@@YN-io6kj , would these mats even withstand a EC135?
@@DavidWilliams-DSW558 they do nearly everyday xD
They've had S-92s land on them before. Note "On them" not on the edge.
Wow Elliot, Amazing video, thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! That looked amazing mate! Brilliant video
Thanks very much for watching!
bit of a shit helipad then isn't it
Yeahh...
Incredibly cool video buddy!! What a machine!! Spectacular stuff made even better with some... how should I call it? destruction? 😂
It's actually a really awful machine lmao
It's a pretty useless machine
What a mess lol
Nice catch. Gotta love the osprey
You got that right!
oops! Someone will fix it. Great footage as you know I really love the Osprey's 😎👍
Thanks 👍Hopefully so :)
Amazing catch mate :p This is impressive :p
Thanks a lot! :)

Yes
Ospreys are infamous for their very strong downwash.
Abort Abort... But mission accomplished Sir! the mat has been flown off.
I was surprised they didn't react.

Thanks for the visit
Good thing those yoga mats didn’t damage the osprey
:)
Wow that went well then Elliot 😂🌬🤔 hope you didn’t suffer any damage 😉 Great catch did you know it was coming?
Yea how were you aware it was coming to Cambs A&E?
Was on the 352 SOSs social medias..
Well that knackered it
Very much so
Unstable and an accident waiting to happen!
Very true. Also avoidable...
Wow they sure do have alot of power
Power!!
@@CBGSpotter its definitely more powerful than the regular air ambulance h145 and aw169
More like destroyed cheap landing pads
:)
We have a new helipad now... These guys aren't allowed on it anymore XD
:D
I sure as hell know that back crewchief was laughing his ass off
I bet
Hope the USAF pay for damage to NHS property
I doubt they will!
uh the helo pad is still there
im gonna buy one. it's pocket change
:D
From a liability perspective, I wonder who is responsible for the damage. I can see strong arguments on either side.
Its a commonly asked question!

They destroyed everything before they left😂
Pretty much!
What a cheap helipad smh
Agreed!
Half life brought me here.
Amazing
RIP Helipad
:(
British quality helipad, not suitable for helicopters, funded by the NHS. Lest we forget.
Also.. true
Not NHS it's a charity
Some stupid comments by armchair experts, how funny they think its a yoga mat.
Indeed!
Junk helipad to begin with.
Been effectively used for a while
On the cheap
But it got a 5 star rating from Amazon Prime
