- Here is the final stage and final boss of the Nu Route on Taito's fishy G Darius / Gダライアス. It is very difficult to clear, it took many tries to do it without getting hit.

G-Darius is a 2d shoot-em-up with 3d graphics, released in 1997 by Taito.
G-Darius is the latest and most likely last arcade game in the Darius series, and in this one, the fishes get even larger and scarier!
Unlike the rest of the Darius series, G-Darius has only 5 stages instead of 7. This means that there are only 15 stages in total.
However, the boss fights are very long and very exciting, and this makes up for having less stages.
G Darius has kept most of the same gameplay features used in the rest of the series, but now you can capture almost any enemy ship you want now, by using the Capture Balls (which have taken place of the bombs)
When captured, the different enemies fire with different patterns and bullet types, some being much better than others.
If you press the capture ball button while having a ship captured, it detonates a small bomb, and if you hold the shot button down, it charges the enemy into an alpha beam, which is fired once you release the button. The alpha beam shot also beats almost everything (apart from gold 'solidnite' that comes around once every while).
The beam can also beat the beams that the bosses use (named beta beam), and is shown in this replay.

La energía destructiva de los motores con tecnología A.N.(tecnología desarrollada por los humanos del planeta Amnelia, de donde provienen los protagonistas) de los Silver-Hawks (las naves) se desestabiliza en ambas naves, y reacciona con los poderes de creación de The Embryon (jefe máximo y creador de la raza enemiga "Thiima"), al tiempo de que este muere, se forma una explosión devastadora. Lutia y Sameluck (los protagonistas) se desvanecen y se funden en un beso, justo antes de ser destruidos por la explosion; luego con la energía provocada por la explosion, ambos renacen juntos... como un nuevo planeta que seria llamado... Darius
(La fuente es la versión japonesa del juego)
Ahora ya pueden descansar en paz, ya conocen la historia de este final, como ven es muy intenso pero no es realmente triste.

Yo tambien sentia pena por este epilogue hasta ahora y cada vez que jugaba este juego en arcades siempre elegia este jefe por su epilogue para abrir las viejas heridas

It's awesome how the stage kind of builds up to the birth of the boss itself on the background.
Also, the shape of the boss gives a strong Ramiel vibe.
14 years later I come back to this video after having watched Evangelion and I was hoping someone else would have made this comment. The parallels are very interesting, especially considering The Embryon was the creator of the Thiima; whereas Ramiel was one of the Angels of God.
Es increible como un videojuego puede tener tanto arte en trasladarte a su realidad sin recurrir a tanto artificio tecnologico, utilizando el recurso de la música para poder llegar a esto.
G-Darius' music was psych, kinda like the original Parasite Eve. The bosses were also rad in both games. Yeah, I'm from the nineties... Cowabunga gamer dudes!

El juego y mas la Música . te atrapa, simplemente hermoso.
Despite not being the canon ending, it is canon that the original Silverhawk models from G-Darius never makes it back to civilization. The future Silverhawk models never was able to use the Capture ball/Alpha beam super again. (Explaining why Darius I and II fighters didn't have them).
It wasn't until Darius Burst when they used a similar system to the Alpha beam in the form of the Burst Cannon.
How many years has it been? The Embryon is still my favorite video game boss of all time.

Favorite G Darius boss hands down at least for final bosses. Best ending too, sad but romantically beautiful, good note to end on before meeting they're end

Growing up spilling infinite numbers of credits into this game comes to mind watching this, the track on this level's boss is unrivalled for me and what an amazing showdown too

G-Darius was one of my first games Play Station, G-Darius had something that appealed to me, and I think I remembered it was the good soundtrack and epic quests, especially the Genesis mission.
It was a translated from the Japanese Wikipedia.

Actually, from what I read, when Sameluck and Lutia were caught in The Embryon's blast, they became the force of life; when the blast engulfed a barren planet, it created an ocean and a blue sky. This is supposed to be the beginning of Planet Darius.
So, it's more of a bittersweet ending than a tragic one.

Classic Darius ending. You have no idea what happened, but it feels like something bad may have happened even if you won.

You made it look so easy... It felt like it took forever for me to beat that thing
I dunno, I thought the term 'GENESIS' and the giant morphing clione in the background with all the light ribbons fit perfectly. For giant bio-mech complexes the other endings have it covered. See the vids in the poster's description.
The only route I could ever clear in 1 one credit was the top path to zone lambda. I think as a general rule the upper paths are easier than the lower ones (for example absolute defender is harder than dual horn)
The Embryon was considered the original Thiima, and thus the supposed 'leader'. However, it only existed in something of an alternate dimension. As it is destroyed, the dimension itself ceased to exist, along with everything inside, leaving the universe at peace. We would like to think the pilots of the Silver Hawks found peace at last as well.
It's even harder than it looks too, I usually lose at least one ship on this boss.

Eihander is unique fr it´s weapon things, but G Darius offers a fantasy trip, having so twisted and cooler things, the bosses, the story, and the multiple awesome endings, ...I miss this game a lot D:
i only remember getting 2 of the 5 endings. this one, and the one where the red ship dies and the blue ship lands on some planet and the lady is sad.

I've started learning this game myself and was wondering: why not take the low route for the first 3 stages, then upper for the last 2? I know that generally lower = better for score, and this route would have a "lower" stage 3 & 4 compared to yours here. Is this just an exception to the rule?

Of the 5 endings this is the most depressing. Next in line would be the ending where they don't escape the explosion (again) but instead of dying (sort of) their ships merged together & became a giant cybernetic silver hawk (literally shaped like the bird) meaning they too became one.

In the description you said that it took many tries to do (clearing this route) without getting hit. I don't know wether you were referring to this video but you got hit twice at 5:45 and again after that.
That aside, awesome gameplay! These days I can't beat G-Darius anymore without a continue. ^^'
+Olivier Schultheiss "without getting hit" means the player don't die, he's getting hit but his ship was covered by shield so he still doesn't die.

I have this game for the original sony playstation (PSX) and was thinking of selling it on ebay. Can someone tell me the name of the song that's playing during the fight with Embryon? Also can someone tell me how to activate the mid-sized captured enemy's secondary fire and/or thier special attacks recorded in the instruction manual? (ex. down, down + right, right, O) I can never get them to work. Thanks

Also in the Wii game "Space Invaders Get Even" if you bought 2 of the 3 DLCs you unlocked the Silver Hawk (I believe that's the name of the ship you play as) as a playable "UFO"

Other Darius games had "bad endings" but were more like grim joke endings (like the silver hawk exploding because of deep water pressure in darius gaiden)
Also I didnt realize at first that the credit roll song is actually a remix of a boss song from the very first Darius
when you're using the hyper beam (w/e), i always think of "SHOOP DA-WHOOP" firing his laser
@Smraedis Brb, gonna buy myself a PSP now, but it doesn't seem like the bosses are in 3D, like in G-Darius, looks more like Darius Gaiden.
usually by the part it fires the spread shot plus the spin laser, I'd have depleted my shields there, and that's when I'm in Vs Boss mode...

I want a remake of this awesome game.
I ALWAYS hated when The Embryon threw out that energy prison. I would be fine up until that point, and then he'd trap me, and I'd get distracted and end up getting most or all of my shield drained away.

G-Darius is on PS3, but I don't believe it's graphics are updated.
Wonder why they never made another game in the Darius series.
It probably wouldn't be as good, but they could make a new one,
or better, remake G-Darius in updated graphics,
for download on Xbox and PS3 as arcade games.

FFWD to Darius Burst. The ending to Zone J has The Embryon emerge with the Thiima behind it as an impending threat after Sylvalion is destroyed. It would seem that despite G.T. being the flagship, The Embryon is really the "leader" of the Thiima…

I feel like the stage doesn't do the music justice. A giant surreal bio-mechanical complex seems much more suited for it.

Instead of making dariusburst cs and stuff they should remake this game

This video is epic. I love g darius tons. I have recently found out that the game was re released for the ps2 on taito legends 2. It has zero slowdown that the original ps1 version has and is awesome! Harder game as a result of being faster. But awesome. I have been trying for a week to finish the game in normal diffuculty with just 1 credit. I can get to the boss of 3rd zone without losing a life so getting there. Anyone know the best path to do this?

They get caught in The Embryon's explosion and die.
I used to think that they somehow travelled back into the past at the beginning of the stage and destroyed the Embryon, thereby preventing the Thiima from becoming a threat in the future, although this created a time paradox and so the pilots were erased from existence as well, but at least Planet Darius was at peace as a result.
