People tend to hate the king of the hill. Ronaldo and Messi are still goated, yes they're not on peak performence anymore, but they're still top 10 best players in the world at their age. Most players at their early 30's start to decline, and by 35 most of them are semi retired and playing in 2nd/3rd rate leagues

As someone who always roots for the underdog in football, that match between Wolfsburg and Madrid in 2016 left me disappointed.
But, looking back now, it is incredible how Ronaldo can just pull plays out of his ass and win it all, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. This had me thinking again on how football fans treat the game like its a single person effort like tennis. When their favorite club does badly, they always put the blame on a single player. Raymar is so true when he says Ronaldo is his goat. A sportsperson a lot more than just has talent. CR7 has always been such a big inspiration on and off pitch. He has always adapted to teams in different styles. Playing in mid, wings, and now as a striker he has done it all. With all due respect to Messi, changing teams does affect the stats. Had Ronaldo started as a left winger/forward at Madrid instead of a right midfielder, his goal tally would have been much ahead.

He Did change his playing style, though. He became more direct in attack. Less time on the ball, more direct passing, fewer tricks. He also had to work more on defense. He got better, more efficient. And then he changed his style again at Madrid.

Messi s lack of goals wasn't talked about as much because Messi isn't a goalscorer, he's a playmaker so if he doesn't score its fine, obviously it's not good but it's not bad either bc he still creates chances, that's why it wasn't talked about as much
He also has 10 goal contributions in 10 games so that's not terrible at all. He got injured and covid and is playing a different role in a different team with a different play style.
