that album is so good that it appeared twice in the bracket
Yeah I was like what the h*ck
and it still didn’t win
@@SBRS47 why did you censor heck 💀
@@lukeoaks he's a fantano fan, what do you expect
@@tadknuf7979 Idek what that's supposed to mean
The Clash actually had Bad Brains open for one of their shows during their 1981 run at the Bonds International Casio on Broadway. Other openers they picked included Lee Scrath Perry, Dead Kennedys, The Fall and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five!
They are still better than the Clash
@@erickh6587why?
@@dgud.2158 bigger sales don't mean they are better. Bad Brainz influence is more noticeable on extreme metal and everything that came out of Hardcore. The Clash were just better at commercializing Punk.
Insane lineup wtf
@@erickh6587The Clash were a level above the rest. They were true artists
so bad brains is canonically a 10?
I don’t think that needs explaining…
NOT GOOD (brains) / 10
Or it's just more hard-core than London Calling
Uh. Ya. Gtfoh.
@@BriboAmiibo yooo bribo
That Minor Threat release has a very strong case for being the most quintessential hardcore album of all time, so as great as London Calling is for a *hardcore* bracket I would’ve gone with minor Threat.
id say Plastic Surgery Disaters/In God We Trust Inc. has a incredibly strong case as well for the best hardcore release
That would have been #1 for me. That's like, the most punk punk album
Glad someone else said it
@@cydonia2780 fresh fruit for rotten vegetables too. DK is kinda unmatched.

TPAB is probably one of the best punk album ive ever heard.
I know this is obviously a joke because that's a rap album but TPAB is legitimately trash 😂
edrogan tha goat
@@HeartlessValiumWhoreit’s really good but it’s nothing compared to the MASTERPIECE that is London Calling
TPAB is amazing and you're objectively wrong if you think otherwise
The Clash got so good at music they arent considered punk
The Clash NOT punk ?????????????????
The Clash are proto-post-punk.
Reason: they can play their instruments.
@@joaoassumpcao3347ELP LMAO
I don't consider them hard core Punk.
@@joaoassumpcao3347 proto means before and post after so it's a ittle bit difficult to be proto post, BUT It's a really nice oxymoron.
Minor Threat v. The Clash first round is brutal
I was waiting that entire video for you to take a sip of your drink Anthony
love bad brains but ain’t no way it would be even near perfect as london calling
I guess he considered bad brains to be more 'punk', not a better record overall
I think it is, although they achieve different things i guess. Bad brains is just pure energy. Both great records tho.
Bro the DISRESPECT for Damned Damned Damned, dude didn't even have to think about it
rare Fantano W
Machine Gun Etiquette is a much more consistent album imo. That would've been a harder choice
It's a good album but not even close to bad brains
Why are people ignoring The Damned where ever I look??? Just watched a long video with tens if not hundreds of thousands views about punk to goth pipeline. NOT A SINGLE MENTION OR PIC OR ANYTHING ABOUT THE DAMNED
What about Wire’s Pink Flag? I mean it’s not the most punk album but it’s an absolutely classic that both Blur and Elastica ripped off.
Gang of Four's "Entertainment!" is the crowning jewel in Britain's alternative/punk demonstration. Wire never came close.
@@martinirving2839 pink flag isn't close to entertainment? stop chatting shite
pretty sure fantano said its a 10 while interviewing black midi

@@martinirving2839Fuck no
Suicidal tendencies didnt even make it out the first round. Ouch
I’ve been praying for a London calling classic review for 3 years now as it’s my favourite album of all time
pray no longer
Been watching this fool for 10 years and I’ve never been more proud than when he said My War was better than Damaged
😂
i really felt that
Damaged is so ass bro 💀
Yeah My War is the best Black Flag album but to be honest I like all the Henry Rollins shit to some extent.
Eh
that stooges record was literally the blueprint
I would argue Fun House has more appeal and greatness to Raw Power. Raw Power was mixed incredibly bad by Bowie and later on by Iggy himself. We've still never collectively listened to the actual Raw Power record when you think of it.
i agree i do like fun house more@@martinirving2839
If it was Funhouse it would've easily had won
raw power is trash compared to fun house
Bad Brains over Raw Power is crazy, literally that's the godfather of Punk music.
Your hardcore punk starter pack video a while ago put me on Bad Brains, and I've never looked back
been spinning a few of these records today, The descendants, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains.ight have to agree with the Bad brains. with that record containing some riffs that remind me of some stuff that some bands riffed on through death metal, the record is tight.
counteracted by some of the records reggae tracks, makes it somewhat more chill.
Milo goes to college is so great it was on there twice.
honestly tough picking between those 3. whichever one im currently listening to is the pick
He’s said BF’s Damaged is overrated 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I mean it is tbf, it's not their best album and it isnt the best hardcore punk album
@@BenHagenhoff yes it is & yes it is
Eh, I kinda agree tbh. Like, it’s a good album, but it just doesn’t really have many standouts to me and My War is better.
@@IdiocyShow my war
London calling is not really a punk album but it’s definitely my favourite by quite a bit out of these, it’s a little unfair tho.
It is though it's actually a Post-Punk album Post-Punk is literally a sub genre of punk rock
@@siouxsiexymox6594 I dont really consider post punk to be anything like punk. It’s literally just a period of time rather than a style of music
raw power is the best of these but I love london calling too
@@hornyconvict ye raw power is a close second for me
@Jamos Why not Though? Would you say the same for Hardcore punk or Powerviolence or Post-Hardcore Isn't Punk rock in general just a time era of garage rock lols And garage rock is just sloppy aggressive rock n roll
man as much as i love milo, and it would have been a difficult decision for me too, i would have picked age of quarrel over it. also why is milo in the bracket twice??
100 percent agreed that London Calling is a perfect album. One of my all-time favourite records.
Green Day - Father of all Motherf***kers
1. The Stooges
2. Black Flag
3. Suiсidаl Tendencies
We all know give me convenience or give me death is the best punk album.
Impossible to seriously say "the Best" But my all time favorite , leaving out hardcore, is Generation X's debut, the British version.. As for HC tie between Bad Brains debut and Minor Threat's 2 ep's on 1 LP
For me legacy of brutality is Misfits best record
Yes Glenn sounds amazing with reverb on his vocals like that. Plus it fits the vibe
considering his albumoftheyear profile put london calling at a 10 i think it's safe to say he puts banned in dc at 11
Clash not hardcore guess it don’t matter all good music. Bad Brains 🤟😎🤟 I’ll add…
Exploited - Horror Epics
Varukers - Bloodsuckers
GBH - Leather, Bristles, Studs
Devo - Are We Not Men
Circle Jerks - Wild In The Streets
For me is Dead Kennedys 'Plastic Surgery Disasters'
Soooo if London Calling is a 10, but Bad Brains is even better, then is it a 10 as well?
Propagandhis how to clean everything is up there. I like that there was more of a focus on riffage than your typical punk band, the message is clear and unapologetic, for 1993 the production was quite good too. Yea, the vocals are still terrible it's punk.
No Fugazi?? I'm losing my mind rn
Banned is DC is peak punk at its finest!
Ramones self titled is the best punk album
Fantano in his Jonathan Davis outfit today
Picking iggy and the stooges over black flag is crazy to me. And I fucking love the stooges. To me that flag album is the perfect hardcore album, before they slowed it down and spawned sludge metal and grunge. Granted the stooges made the blueprint, but still…
It feels weird imo to call damaged overrated when compared to my war; I see them as both 10’s. But ig I’m a huge flag fan and a huge Rollins fan, so naturally I gravitate towards that stuff. Stooges also hella underrated as a punk band
man do an emo bracket too :)
Fantano hates emo music though.
@@Redarmy1917 afaik he likes 1st wave emo and 2nd wave emo (i think), dont kno what he thinks of 3rd n 5th wave, pretty sure he doesn't like emo revival though
@@idenentity is 5th wave really a thing though?
@@kiwiofoz7954 Yeah, shit like Weatherday, Paranoul, Glass Beach and these Bandcamp artists combining emo with jazz and electronics are technically considered the 5th wave
@@andrei11dr wait Glass Beach is emo? I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO EMO THE WHOLE TIME?
Extremely fucked up to see minor threat shafted that hard
Damaged is definitely not overrated tho melon
London Calling is a perfect album if you don't listen for pure punk rock. Its more post-punk if anything, consider thr eclecticism.
How is London Calling not a punk album as much as Minor Threat?!
It's more popy and less caustic than Minor Threat, also the Clash weren't DIY
@@andrei11dr They were one of the first great punk bands. They set the bar and they set it high. Punk isn't defined by being caustic.
Because this specifically is a hardcore punk album ranking. The Clash was not hardcore punk, they were Britpunk.
@@13strong the clash are trash they set the bar low
@@beaumill Cool take, bro 😂
I gotta say I agree 10,000 gecs is the best punk album of all time 🔥🔥🔥
As someone from D.C. proper, this excites me.
Bad seeding. Final round should have been Minor Threat and Bad Brains. Neither out punks the other, photo finish for Bad Brains on musicality.
Calling Damaged overrated is your new worst take
It’s an abhorrent take. It’s also better than Raw Power, and I’m huge Iggy fan.
"Raw Power" is mixed to shit by both Bowie and Iggy. We've really never heard the true "Raw Power" 50 years later. Everything on this tier list pales in comparison to "Fun House."@@interpol990
If someone asked me to pick between the Yellow Album and London Calling I would have one of those robot breakdowns where I go "ERROR ERROR" and my head explodes
Bad Brains and Milo are GOATED
My War is not way better. It's not even close to being as good as Damaged. Side 1 of My War is mediocre punk tracks (with the exception of the title track). Side 2 is good, but not as good as the stuff on Damaged
L
Agreed... "Damaged" is more raw and urgent and My War is a boring F' record, I don't wanna listen to a whole album of HR just talking like WTF is that.
@Thurman Merman Also, the way the songs just sound. Damaged is loud, raw, and aggressive. My War sounds like everything was a first take at a rehearsal in someone's living room and they just recorded it
A-Side was meh, B-Side was a waste and for an album as a full package just sounded to me like a cheap discount Sabbath.
all of Black Flag is mediocre punk. Never understood the hype
Bad brains were incredible live!!
Where's Double Nickels?
Milo on each side of the bracket?
single going steady - Buzzcocks
I dont think you can rank genre-defining Hardcore albums and not bring up Discharge's Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing. The brutality, the speed, the cheap and stripped down production, there was nothing like it before those guys. Discharge changed everything, and if they were on this bracket they would be my number one
bad brains is a PERFECT album, no band ever matched the energy of the 70’s and early 80’s of the bad brains
Was never a clash fan. I prefer the ramones first four records over any clash album.
London calling is great, but it is not a punk album and does not belong here.
Dead Kennedys should’ve been here
I'm sorry but you can't really saw the Clash are punk. Listen to Black Flag or Lagwagon and then listen to the clash and tell me what sounds punk to you. the clash are more akin in the pop/beatles category
I can’t even be mad at this one, i went int skeptical but melon kept the clash till it was time
A lot of Americans here who don't seem to know the difference between punk and hardcore punk.
All these albums are good. But I will say if you're a fan of punk... Circle Jurks has an underrated discography. So check them out. All these albums on here are good.
no fun house??
Will you review the new Noel Gallagher album, Fantano?
Deep Sweden - Maiden Prague
germs we must bleed sounds like spongebob

London Calling. Hands fuckin’ down!
Minor Threat and Circle Jerks were robbed
What about Crass, Conflict, Subhuman an to a certain extent Culture Shock
Raw Power is the god father of punk album
If London calling is a canonically a 10, the bad brains is 11/10 confirmed.
How many times does the descendants have to lose!? 😂
The dismissal of minor threat like that is shocking
I love London Calling but that album is like only 30% punk mixed with 10 other different genres, people need to stop calling it "Hardcore Punk"
Nobody called it hardcore punk. It's original UK punk.
Nobody does call it hardcore punk, people call it Britpunk.
@@13strong You beat me to it lol
It's corporate punk
@@marknewbold2583 How so?
London Calling - next?
Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables didn't even appear, that's what i call a crime.
So… London calling is better than GI, but bad brains is better than London? GI is a better hardcore record to bad brains imo, but even then I’d consider London calling a better overall album. Hardcore in general is just such a limiting genre in general. Also My War is only slightly better than damaged, not way better
Didnt expect him to be wrong but cant blame him for trying
Almost pissed me off a few times, good job pulling it together in the end though Melon
but the descendents is a more upfront catchy punk record
Cro Mags over Fear? Yeah, no. Nothing sounds like that Fear record to this day.
The best punk albums are homework, alive 1997, discovery, human after all, alive 2007 and random access memories
Stiff little fingers- inflammable material 👍🏴🤘🍻😎🍺🇬🇧🙏🎧
Minor Threat bro
Why did this list low key offend me? MINOR THREAT IS WORSE THAN THE CLASH!?!!!!?!!??!
The Saints ‘ (i’m) Stranded’
Discharge - Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing is the correct answer
Based. Very red pill. Very agreeable. Great list. The only one I can disagree on from opinion is that black flag one. I agree, my war was better, but still.
Dicey -but you saved it
No mention of the stranglers? Come on
London Calling in hardcore punk?! What? 😂
Lost in the supermarket 💥💥
I used to be an A student, I never used to complain. I used to be a truant, but I'm still the same.
Ah, London Calling- all the best punk rock albums contain zero punk rock songs.
Shrugging off Fear and choosing the senseless Darby Crash comedy hour over the rock solid circle jerks speaks for itself.
Would’ve liked to see Wipers on there.
Is This Real? a truly great album, but I don't think of Wipers as purely punk, they evolved beyond it, I think of them as a post-punk band. Likewise Wire, Pink Flag is a 10/10 album but they were already moving out of the boundaries of punk by then.
Maybe we should have had Rotting Fruit for Dead Vegetables instead of Descendents twice?
@@theDutton you should try Gang of Four's "Entertainment!" It put Wire to shame and is the best example of what punk should be. Has never been imitated or bettered to this day.
@@martinirving2839 Disagree that it puts Wire to shame, plenty of room for both at the post-punk party. Especially since Wire were 3 albums deep and reinvented themselves every time by 79. But yeah, Entertainment! is about as perfect as punk albums get.
W My War take
London calling isn’t really that much of a punk album, musically it has a lot more going for it with a lot of different influences. But like if you’re just judging off the punky songs its the worst album on that list
London Calling - great? yes Punk? nope
Frankenchrist is the only answer...
