      2.54 cm to an inch, 12 inches (30.48cm) to a foot, three feet (0.9144m) to a yard. It's not that hard to convert if you just approximate, and it really isn't beyond anyone, American or European, to spend five seconds memorizing basic units of measurement before watching a seventy-year-old cartoon.
      I love the metric system as much as the next guy, but seriously, just learn this. You have no idea how much easier it makes regular conversations.

    This film looks like a sales pitch for anti aircraft guns. It show how accurate German AA guns were at the time. I think it would have been very sobering, if not demoralizing ,for allied bomber crews; of course, they had to know the true dangers that they were going to encounter. I wouldn't have wanted to be in a bomber crew then.

    • @MistedMind
      @MistedMind 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, it was obviously footage from WW2 including German Wehrmacht material.
      So it was likely produced after the War.
      The footage would still be of use in: Korea & Vietnam at least.
      And ... there wasn't much innovation in the field of AA till heat/radar-guided SAM came up.
      So what to train the Airforce with? The movie above :P

    • @nofrackingzone7479
      @nofrackingzone7479 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The video is titled German Anti-Aircraft Gun System | Flak | US Air Force Training Film | 1944. Again the US Air Force didn't exist, it was the US Army Air Corp. The limited Wehrmacht footage in the training film was likely captured footage. By the making of this film the invasion of Europe occurred, meaning captured German footage would have been analyzed. The narrator is speaking in the present tense, not the past tense, hinse the purpose of the film was to train pilots of the danger they faced in the upcoming days or weeks ahead. Using this as a training film for air force training in Korea and Vietnam would be laughable. The equipment used and threat faced changed greatly. The US is not short of resources, there is no need to recycle outdated training. Any US commander would blow his stack if this had been delivered as training material.

    Germany antiaircraft weapon production and its ammunition took slice of 8% of whole German munition production being bigger than combat armor production (without their guns but perhaps even with including those weapons). Germany used some 58% of its production targeting air war when taking aircraft and antiaircraft artillery production plus their ammunition. Army took just 30%. Over 80% of German antiaircraft guns were against Allied Strategic bombing. Eastern Front took just 12%.

    I was named William, after my Mother's Cousin, William E. Boone. Pilot of a B-24J-1-FO named YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, assigned to the 566th Bomb Squadron, 369th Bomb Group. On 23 March 1945 after delivering his ordnance, he was shot down over the marshaling yards at Munster. It was his last sortie before rotation home. My last days in Viet Nam were strained, that last mission thing was kind of unnerving.

      I dont know, is it FLAK in English, too? Its a german shortcut for "Flugabwehrkanone", which means "Air defense gun" translated, do it wouldnt make very much sense to use that term in english...

    • @willyoung2288
      @willyoung2288 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Sven Christ We do call it flak, we borrowed the term from the Germans. It's also called Triple-A (Anti-Aircraft Artillery).

    • @4T3hM4kr0n
      @4T3hM4kr0n 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sven Christ British call it triple A while flak just became a standerd term for anti aircraft guns and the meaning was lost.

      only missiles
