    This was so helpful, I appreciate you so much. It’s a dying craft and so hard to find good tutorials. I’m so excited to explore the rest of your channel ❤

    I'm so glad that I found you! I was watching Trenton and Heath resole the vintage lady boots and that is how. I've been really trying to get into shoemaking for years now and I've been leather working for 8+. Your videos on where to get supplies and tools and talking about what they are is a Godsend and I cannot thank you enough! I have not looked but, I plan on watching as many of your videos as possible and I hope you're still able to put out more. I hope all is well with you and thank you again for having such amazing content for someone who cannot afford to go to a fancy school and learn all about shoemaking!

    Been thinking about learning the shoe making trade cause i don’t wanna buy and trash more shoes. Nice to know i can use a lot of the stuff i use for my welding, albeit at the cost of some slight alterations.

    my hammer fetish struck me today at an antique store and I bought a cobblers hammer, having no idea what it actually was! Short bit of time researching and I was able to figure out what it is called, but not what the claw end was used for. Couple hours on youtube finally I found this video and question answered! Have a great day.

    So helpful and encouraging, thank you! I'm working up to making my first pair of shoes, and not knowing quite what equipment I need to gather together has been giving me a bit of a mental block, so I feel so much better for having watched this ❤.

    Gaziano and Girling make their clicker knives out of a hacksaw blade you buy in hardware store, not sure of brand. They hone each blade to make multiple small knives, must be due to quality of steel.

    Thank you for the video. I have been very interested in making my own shoes and working with leather. Most leather starter kits and guides are for completely impractical crafts and I want to apply it to something actually useful like shoe making.

    I *believe* that Hirschkleber is (or was originally) elk hoof glue, hence the elk on the label. I think I heard that it's synthetic now, but that's the origin of if.

  • @norbertkurth3830
    @norbertkurth3830 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Rouge translation of the Hirschkleber product description:
    Modified starch. (most likely from potato, but corn or wheat are also possible)
    No bleed through, adhesion without needle fixing required. Quick drying, always useable, water thinnable. Durable, odorfree, not degenerating (Imo they have to use a preserving agent to achieve this). Thickened product can be generated by warming or thinning. Usable for leather, felt, paper and cardboard.
    Greetings from Germany

    • @VickyDIncecco
      @VickyDIncecco  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I genuinely recommend videos over books if you’re new to the craft. Check out Marcell Mrsan’s Vimeo channel. As for books, I can’t say I’ve found any single one that has explained everything in detail. Most of the time you need to have some knowledge of shoemaking to understand what they’re talking about...with that said, I like: “Handmade Shoes For Men” by Vass, “Pattern Cutting” by Frank Jones, “Designing, Cutting and Grading Boot and Shoe Patterns” by Charles B Hatfield (Boston, USA 1899). I don’t really have any in mind that explain every step, mostly specific topics like pattern making.
      Hope this helps!

    Where do you get your heels from?

    • @VickyDIncecco

      The shorter heels are from Minke in Germany. The higher heels were designed by me and I sell them on my site! www.vickydincecco.com

  • @IeuanAlli
    @IeuanAlli 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    where does one get the lasts?

    • @VickyDIncecco
      @VickyDIncecco  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My lasts are custom, I ordered them from a factory. But before that I used to find my lasts around the internet. Depends on what you're looking for, but you can try cordwainertools.com and sorrellnotionsandfindings.com - otherwise a good place to get custom lasts and I don't think they have minimums is Minke from Germany or Springline in the UK. Good luck!

    • @IeuanAlli
      @IeuanAlli 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VickyDIncecco ouh, the thing is i don't have enough to get a last that's above £60 which all of them are, like just to have a sneaker design or normal Oxford last that's second hand will be beneficial

    • @VickyDIncecco
      @VickyDIncecco  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sometimes there’s lasts on eBay or Etsy, but it’s hard to find the exact shape and size you need. But perhaps you’ll get lucky!
