    What, a whole land cruiser under 2k USD???? Here in my place, you won't buy a rotten frame + papers for less than 5000 USD, and can't expect anything that can start and move on its own for less than 10 000... I mean, guys, a used engine alone is worth more than $2000. You were basically gifted with that car :(

    I lucked out and got a 96 triple locked for $1000 from an elderly woman who wanted it gone after her husband passed. I offered to give her much more and she said, “get that ugly thing off my lawn.” California, passed smog, leaked oil like I owned OPEC, and needed a new starter but has been a fun project. An incredibly lucky find, oh…no rust, probably because it had a lot of oil everywhere.

    Last year I’m almost positive I bought the cheapest Land Cruiser in the country with 150K on it at the time. Only paid $2500 for it. Now granted it was pretty rusty and it needed it new rear axle, but the frame itself was still very solid. Did all the work myself, spent a fortune on parts and just got done putting a lift kit, bigger tires and whole new front end on it. Definitely couldn’t be happier with it now, was a fun lil project truck lol

It has 72k miles on it and it is without question the best built car I have ever owned. In 22 years, I’ve done brakes once, oil, filters, fluids, tires and a few batteries. It runs and drives exactly the same way today as it did 22 years ago. I will never, ever part with it even if I don’t drive it daily. The only downside is the 13-17mpg.

    Glad to see that Land Cruiser will be back on the road where it should be. Thieves are disgusting and can destroy a vehicle in no time. When our 60 series Land Cruiser was stolen, in 2017, it showed up 8 months later in Los Angeles. It's back in Colorado and about a month away from completion of body work, paint and reassembly.
    That 100 series has nothing in it compared to ours.
    So as best I recall, the list looks like this:
    (Approximately)
    7 plastic bags of clothes (30 gallon size)
    Three sleeping bags
    12-18 backpacks, most full of pencils, colored, etc. No identification in them.
    12 or more small purses
    10 plus handbags and satchels (no ID)
    One compressor (large, dual tanks, again, not working)
    One electric guitar (not functioning, missing strings, etc.)
    One tambourine
    Two generators (one 5300 Wts and a second 3200 Wts). One ran but it didn’t product electricity, the other didn’t run.)
    One lawyer case (no identification)
    Four extension cords (cut up)
    One non-functioning floor jack
    Ten locks and bike locks
    Four skateboards, a long board, like four feet and another short board
    Numerous batteries
    Electronic “boom box”
    One gas propelled bike
    Two mini-bikes (on top to vehicle)
    Four 10-speed bikes
    One wheelbarrow (four wheels)
    40 plus cell phones (no iPhones), mostly in backpacks and laying around in vehicle, all broken with cracked screens. Lots of various cables.
    Dog food and poop
    Dead dog
    One potential firearm (turned in to police. It was wrapped in electrical tape, so I couldn’t tell for sure what it was.)
    Maybe 50 keys
    One panel light on top of vehicle
    One cash dollar and some loose change

    Okay, so slightly misleading with thr details about the title. So while the title might not be branded, if the insurance carrier declared the vehicle a total loss, the VIN will be tainted by that, and any appraisal down the road that checks the VIN will see the theft recovery and total loss history and it's residual value will reflect that and some carriers might not sell full coverage for it or no coverage at all.

    • @RoverRacer913
      @RoverRacer913 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's not a rebuilt title nor a salvage title so insurance will cover it no problem. I would never add full coverage to a vehicle like this anyways. I'll have then 6k in it total. of something happens it's a throw away/parts car at that point

    • @christianhepler7798
      @christianhepler7798 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoverRacer913 Again, it is tied to the VIN, not the actual branding on the title because title washing basically a trifle to some unscrupulous dealerships. When a car is declared a total loss by an insurance carrier, it is reported to NICB and insurance claim databases to detect and prevent fraud.
      So even though the title doesn't show salvage or rebuilt, the VIN will show records of the theft, the recovery and that there was a total loss settlement for it. This is to help prevent somebody from say buying a car, several insurance policies, and then totaling it, retaining salvage and getting a settlement from each policy.
      If you don't believe me, fix it up, and then go get an appraisal from say Car Max, they'll run the VIN and see the theft and total loss history and adjust their offer to reflect it.

    • @RoverRacer913
      @RoverRacer913 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianhepler7798 yeah I get that and agree but as far as me having a clean title and being able to insure it. Evrything is kosher. This truck will stay in the family and be a good car for us to run trails and camo with.

    Here's the thing, it doesn't look like it would have been issued a (Salvage title) but if it has one, once you rebuild it, and if you try to resale it, the new buyer might have a problem getting insurance for it. Since the prices have skyrocketed, insurance companies are denying and refusing to insure a lot of vehicles that they would have insured just two years ago. So buyer beware!

      why wouldnt the insurance company just up their premium? if a car is worth $25k (older or not) just adjist the premium to reflect the value. considering parts might not be available on older cars they could add a premium cost on for that as well knowing that an older vehicle will be much more likely to be total loss than a newer car would.
