How proud she was when you brought up the book she read without any help- loved that! My middle daughter is finishing up 1st grade right now, too, and we also use LOE and are wrapping up C. We ALWAYS split the lessons for C, they're so much longer and go way more in depth than A or even most of B called for. Love, love LOE. We aren't using D next year but I still totally recommend it to people shopping around for phonics curricula.

My daughter was having trouble remembering her math facts. I bought Math War Addition (Amazon), and she loved it. The facts started to stick, and she is able to move pretty quickly now.
We use BJU math as well, which is awesome.

Ok so I JUST stated following you and within a day you started putting out more review from what I just saw. Praise God truly because He knew I had a few questions. I had questions about Saxon. I think I remember you going from Horizons 5 and I thought your baby tested out of Grade six and went to Saxon Pre-Algebra. Did you just go to Saxon 6? My other question is, is there any reason you guys aren’t in IEW and Fix It Grammar? It seems to cover the need for writing challenge. Just curious.

Thank you for being here! My middle daughter has been using Horizons since grade 4. I just tested her to see where she would fall for Saxon and tested into their pre algebra. Spoiler that’s what she’s been using for a few weeks now. My oldest has done Saxon since 4th grade.
I’ve gotten so many mixed reviews about IEW. We really like the scripture readings for Writing Strands. It has laid a solid foundation for them. Stay tuned for what we’ll be using next. 😉

@@LifeofTillmans I absolutely will! We love your channel. I’ll look into them as well. I have been so apprehensive about Masterbooks since we started off with them and my daughter got SOOO behind in 1st grade. We started 1st grade over with All about Reading, Spelling and Apologia Math. But switched to Horizons recently which we are loving.

@@MorrisandApril Thank you! ❤ Yes, I get the apprehension. We used MasterBooks LLFLE for a couple of years and I decided it just wasn’t enough. Other things from them have served us well for the time we needed it.

I did not like the 180 days of social studies either. You are right; it is not worth the time. The info is so shallow and "dumbed down" that it doesn't even teach the child anything useful.
