Honestly, it was so difficult in the 80s to get even posters of this band, and keep in mind this was a very music-centric culture in which you could find a Tower Records or a record shop of some stripe in every city. I had to special order a poster through my local store. Even their biggest hit was only in modest rotation on the radio. There was a late night video program (I think called Night Tracks?) on a cable channel that would play their songs but I don't think MTV gave them much love, and if you were (not to be mean) a bit of a weirdo in the 80s you were immediately drawn to Dr. Robert and if you were serious about good music, the Blow Monkeys would get your attention. It's sad but true. I think you had to somewhat be a fan of funk/blues to like them, it was very different from the music of the time to a lot of people. Finally, the name turned a lot of people off. Parents would hear it and become aghast as if you had suggested a dirty sex act, so for as bubblegum pop and "youth oriented" as the 80s were, it was still a pretty conservative time. A real shame, but glad to see there are still fans! EDIT: I count myself as one of those weirdos, by the way - that's what people told me when I mentioned the band, "well, you're kind of a weirdo, so I guess that makes sense." :D
