Have you learned that the 5 gallon orange Home Depot buckets are not food grade and it isn't safe to grow food in them? Please do a little research. The same is probably true for some of the other containers being used here. Cancer isn't fun.

Ideally, food grade containers are best, but I'll grow in anything. Preferable to buying vegetables in grocery stores. We'll never know how they were grown!

I will have a huge salad at reach from the sunroom, or garage, closer to to the kitchen, I will put my mini Cukes on a lovely Garden pointed wire trellis. Love those little dudes dipped in ranch dressing or raspberry vinaigrette, mixed with ranch dressing...such a pretty pink dip. The crunch helps me walk past potato chips at the grocery. LOLOL. M waist is SO grateful!

I tried gardening in buckets last year. Everything flowered but I hardly got any produce at all. I REALLY want to try again using your tips and using your link for products, but with my husband snd I are on a fixed income, so would it be cheaper to buy at a farmers market instead of buying all these products? I like the idea of growing produce myself, snd I REALLY want to, but will it be cost effective? I have about six buckets to work with.

This includes 3 tomato plants that made it through the winter. I have about 8 tomato plants, 12 pepper plants in 3 colors of peppers, 6 cucumber and 6 spaghetti squash, and I have several herbs. The rest are plants for looks and color.

I had so many volunteer tomatoes come up last year I decided to make use of 15 or so yellow cat litter buckets that were about 5 gallon capacity that I had. I drilled 1/2" holes in the bottoms of them, and transplanted the volunteers to the buckets. I had no need or desire to container garden until then but I ended up giving many away to friends and have created some new gardeners from those gifts last year. I also got rid of those yellow buckets I was hoarding for some unknown reason!

Containers make it easier for me, because this year, I have more responsibility taking care of my husband, who is being forgetful, and an older dog who has kidney failure. I will turn my plant pots into flowers AND VEGGIES.I bought a couple of plastic wide enough for a large plant, AND it has rope handles for easy yanking around the area for Sun and rain issues. I always disliked Bachelor's buttons, but I saw some huge blooms at a nursery, and I asked the lady how she got the blooms so fluffy, and big. She said, that they Don't like too much rain, so she moves them around when it rains. I like that feature, so my pots are ready, and frost is pretty much gone in my area of Ohio. Time to blast my music, and dig. Thank you for this valuable video.note...my pots are on the patio, and the hose is there as well. There are shrubs nearby and I can use them for protection from wind or heavy rains. And sheltering the plants in a group will be easier, as long as they get plenty of air circulation. And it will be easier to see issues from bugs or other critters, like the squirrels we feed.

Great advice on container gardening. I already started mine for the first time and realize that some of my pots are not big enough to accommodate my tomato plants and others. ( I told my husband to buy new ones, but he said we have some!) They are fruiting beautifully , but they need more space. The tomatoes plants are getting tall and huge! I do have a determinate variety which is a lot slower to fruit. You gave a very concise and complete explanation of what you can do. Thank you! New subscriber . ❤

This year, I have been lucky enough to get left over mineral tubs they use for cows. I've also found an old dryer drum that I'm using this season. 😁🌱👍

My life has gotten crazy busy, since my husband's forgetfulness issue. I am responsible for everything, SO...container gardening is my plan for this growing season. Number one, I already have containers, I used for the flowers. I purchased a food grade bucket for potatoes. I do a keto-type diet, so we Don't need lots of potatoes, and they keep well. I figure, tomatoes, roma...cukes, pickling ones, as I am the only one eating them, my husband won't. Herbs for sure, as they have medicinal benefits, and some repel bugs, as do Marigold flowers, and Nasturtiums, etc., I have my pepper plants, and watermelon, which I will plant some spot on the acre that it can just run. I Want to shove some garlic and red onion in the ground at some point. Do you have a video about insects, that invade...my friend lost her kale to an insect. My previous gardens of veggies had no issues with insects.

I bought 10 of those fabric containers and I got the tan color to reflect the heat rather than black. Going to see if some pepper plant sprouts will like the bags as home. Next year I am going to try a more bug resistant squash. Another great video, Thanks!
