And it's special in this case because it's not just a romantic relationship, it's pretty explicitly platonic. Of course the lyrics can be applied to either situation but it's aware that abuse doesn't just happen in romantic relationships but in platonic ones too.

Kinito aside, this song is kind of a really good allegory for an abusive relationship. Cutting off your friendships, making you depend on them, trying to elicit your pity or claiming they just want to be good to you. Also the pinning the blame on the victim ("Do you think of me, or am I just another plaything?" "I thought I was your friend, I guess you were pretending" etc)
And it's special in this case because it's not just a romantic relationship, it's pretty explicitly platonic. Of course the lyrics can be applied to either situation but it's aware that abuse doesn't just happen in romantic relationships but in platonic ones too.
