I have been watching from Italy.. It's such a terrible disaster, I feel so sad for all the people and animals that had no where to go, got hurt or had their homes destroyed. Very tragic for the people who passed.. Love and hope for the ones that survived ❤

Why isn't the power (electricity) turned off in a storm like this. The power gets turned off on the west coast for storms to keep from starting fires. If they turned the power off the downed power lines ate no problem and we would be saving transformers from blowing up. Transformers are expensive and getting hard to get.
It was bad for a lot of us, though. My cousins apartment roof fell in on them in the middle of the night. We just lost power, and our car is done for. We are glad to be alive, but this is not something to just scoff at.
The tornado swarm activity across Southeast and Central Florida was absolutely unprecedented, I've never seen so many tornado warnings. In fact, I'm pretty sure we became the second highest number of tornado warnings in a single day anywhere on record. I got lucky, but I know others didn't. :(

I'm seeing homeless camps in places I've never seen them in all my 60 years. My son and his fiance bought a modest half a double (not in Fla) and their mortgage payments are $1350 a Month. They both have decent jobs and still it's not easy to keep their bills paid. It's probably worse in Fla.

We had a freak wind storm the other night with 90 km/h winds. I can' fathom what this must be like. I hope those trapped in their homes are rescued and led to safety.
Takes weeks to disassemble cranes that big so they did not have time. People within proximity of this and other active construction sites were evacuated for this reason.
The logical thing is a nationalized health and property insurance disaster fund versus the friend in us relation of private industry of health and property insurance companies....I think it would matter more to people a National Disaster Fund covers the recovery cost of their property more useful than knowing people have a stingy friend in AllState. Be cheaper to nationalize. Privatization does not work. Devastation occurs too frequently, year after year. Helene was a water event. Milton is a wind and water event. Might be able to keep a few of the insurance companies alive but I would not advise it. You’ll only be dealing with them again as their only purpose is to make money and not spent it on recoveries they cannot afford given their frequency. They will still find customers through the banks insuring mortgages still owed to banks more than they cover the house itself and the homeowner left in a tight spot. If We, as a nation, expect to survive we have to embrace science.

Takes weeks to disassemble cranes that big so they did not have time. People within proximity of this and other active construction sites were evacuated for this reason.
There would be no life in Florida if we pack everything everytime a hurricane is gonna hit. The crane operator however must be from out of town.

The logical thing is a nationalized health and property insurance disaster fund versus the friend in us relation of private industry of health and property insurance companies....I think it would matter more to people a National Disaster Fund covers the recovery cost of their property more useful than knowing people have a stingy friend in AllState. Be cheaper to nationalize. Privatization does not work. Devastation occurs too frequently, year after year.
Helene was a water event. Milton is a wind and water event. Might be able to keep a few of the insurance companies alive but I would not advise it. You’ll only be dealing with them again as their only purpose is to make money and not spent it on recoveries they cannot afford given their frequency. They will still find customers through the banks insuring mortgages still owed to banks more than they cover the house itself and the homeowner left in a tight spot.

@connief1919 I believe the National Guard is in NC....or so I heard on a news channel. Maybe vary the news channels you watch. Lots of personnel, FEMA, food, water & help going into NC, some via donkey train up the mountains. The help won't be instant....no one should ever expect instant help, (even if we live in a instant gratification world). Be resilient, self sufficient & help your neighbours.

This summer tornados ripped thru the midwest, fires in the northwest, fires in New Mexico, now this on top of Helena. It is no wonder FEMA is running low.
What makes a country strong is it's citizens, taxpapers, average joes and janes. We all need to respect and get along with each other. Everyone can and should do better. We are at war with the enviroment not only nationwide but worldwide!

I just watched the CBS report and saw a difference in HOW the anchors relay news to us. CBS was actually on the positive side while these anchors seem to actually like reporting only the bad things that happened. CBS did report that too, but there's a different tone with this report ...They even used dramatic music🙄
