  • Step by step guide to making a larger batch (10-20kg or 20-40 lbs) of paper clay / paperclay.
    Tools required: an electric powered drill, metal paint mixer, large bucket, clay, paper, hot water, kitchen detergent, deflocculant.
    Demonstration based upon questions at, and experience of providing, over 200 paperclay workshops over nearly two decades. Includes tips and shortcuts.

    Thanks for this. I teach adults in the UK and some of them have asked about making paper clay. It's not easy to find no-nonsense instructions so this is a great help.

    thank you Mr Hay for sharing your knowledge. I want to make some artistic jewelry with paper clay. wondering what kind of paper clay i would need for that project that should not be too heavy but at the same time helpful in achieving detailed work. thanks in advance.

    Thank you very much for this informative video! There is one point that I am missing however - when you show the mixing ratio in parts, you show 9 parts clay and 3 parts paper pulp, which is 3:1, but when you measure the bucket with a marker, you show 2:1 (2/3 to 1/3). So which ratio is the usual one?
