Saul Leiter: The Pioneer of Color Street Photography

Saul Leiter (1923-2013) was a groundbreaking American photographer and painter, best known for his pioneering use of color photography at a time when black and white dominated the art form. Born in Pittsburgh, Leiter moved to New York City in the 1940s, initially pursuing a career in painting. His transition into photography was inspired by his deep interest in abstraction and form, which he carried from his painting background into his photographic work.
