So lovely to see the pure pleasure in catching her first fish on a fly she tied. What a tranquil setting and cheerful excursion. Always a pleasure to watch and appreciated down-under in NZ.
Just great to have you both back outside ! Really enjoyed that. Top work Ieva on the olive upright, it looked perfect. That fish on 20.05 was a beauty (as opposed to the dodgy rainbows). I am out on Monday on the Lathkill - can’t wait, thanks guys
Thanks Alex!! Good luck on Lathkill, drove past it today looks stunning. Which bit of the Lathkill are you on? I will be around those ends on Monday myself, either Wye or Derwent x
Well done IB during the winter I made my own squirmy worms and they are deadly. I used them at my local lake and all the old boys/members were wonder what I was using. I've only been fly fishing since the end of last summer. It feels amazing catching on your own flies. Love your channel.
Thanks and well done lads.. Stumbled across your vlogs a few days ago, have binge watched ever since. Great entertainment and information on the shows, have tried nymphing as a result, having been a dry fly Fisher all my life. Enjoying the challenge. Thanks for the endless entertainment over the last few long nights of lock down over here in Ireland.. Looking forward to more of the same 🎣.. Tight lines 👍
Thank you so much!! Are you enjoying nymphing? It's definitely not the same as dry fly, but certainly very entertaining and sti requires a lot of skill to be efficient at it. Tight lines for when you're able to come out! 🐬🎣🎣🎣
@@IBandAndyFishing restrictions eased so am able to make it to the river.. Nymphing is a bigger challenge to dry, but I am enjoying the challenge. It will take time to work out the bite indications etc but it's something different when there is no rise on. 👍
I shall keep that fly and frame it, so cool! I have caught on my own tied nymphs, but Andy did help with them so I don't count these... something extremely special to tie a fly without any help and go catch a few fish on it.
Great to see you both back out on the water, great skills with the tying leva. It's such a great feeling to catch on flys that you've tied yourself. Cant wait to see you guys soon, especially so I can fix that net Andy lol 😄😄😄😄😄😄
So fun to watch you two. Congrats on your first dry fly and your success fishing today. We're just starting our spring season here in Alaska as well. Cheers!
Great videos guys, informative and amusing at times. Really good to see a lovely young lady who enjoys fishing, my daughters are still to be convinced. Keep them coming.

Thank you so much Jim! I'm over the moon with fly tying (not sure how Andy feels about his hooks and materials disappearing 😳) , like you said, amazing feeling when the fish takes something that you have created yourself on the vice! X
The sheer joy on Ieva's face catching on fly you've tied yourself and hard luck Andy, but it's helps the rest of us when we see the pro's failing to get trout to stick.
Still not able to fish here, looks like a fishing weekend in the black forest is on the cards for the end of the month. That's a very effective fly you tyed there I.B very well done!!!
@@IBandAndyFishing we're allowed to go fishing here atm but the problem is getting a German fishing license, to get one you have to sit a written test and you need to take classes to pass the test(social distancing problem), so I have to fish private lakes ,like the one at the camping site in the black forest until I can finally get a German fishing license, but I'm hoping to get back home to Scotland/England in August for 5 weeks of blissful fishing.
Bravo for Ieva’s fly, it’s so satisfying (got a gugeon on my 1st nymphe ! But still proud) we are unlocked since monday in SW France but the thunder we heard during saturday’s live stream turned into downpours and floods sunday through to now (can’t even find the river’s normal course) in desperation went to the local pond and caught tiny roach rising !! Little chance of anything but stockies, chub or dace within the 60 miles we’re allowed to travel.
Please do a video on how to select the right fly and a couple of pointers on fly selection. Would be really helpful if you could include maybe a picture of the actual fly and a close up of the imitation. Would be massively appreciated!! Enjoyed the video
It's a real hard and difficult this one is Chris, every river, region will have different hatches. We did do a video on a little book that covers all the flies, their stages and how to imitate them. Have a watch & get that book! It helped me so much when I was starting up. X
Geez Andy I thought IB was going to sock you in the back of the head. LOL. IB you tied a really good looking fly, it worked well for you and you should have been proud. Down the road one day, build your own rod then catch a fish using your own fly, that is almost the ultimate experience. IB you cast very well. I watch as an instructor and an objective observer because I do and you cast well, did Andy teach you? The two of you have great synergy, I think that is why I like watching your longer videos This rainbow you caught was a chunk!! Andy do you ever use a strike indicator with a dry? I use one when the light is making it hard to see anything small on the water. It serves no other purpose than to let you see the approximate location of your fly so if you see a rise close by it you can set the hook. Sometimes the flash of color from a bit of bright foam is not enough especially as I get older. IB can you do a tying segment for your fly? You did an amazing job!
Real great video guys!! What a way to start 2020 albeit late. Love that blue wing olive tie IB. Nice job! I been tying for 20 years. That one looked better than anything I've made.
