I bet this would make it a billion times easier for people who do complicated makeup for their LARP! You've even got the extra counter space for your stuff like makeup or razors. Even just for contact lenses to see normally, this makes it that much easier to keep it *sanitary.*

Awesome vanity. I really appreciate all the projects you have done here. Something you could look up for inspiration is called "Campaign Furniture". It is a whole style of furniture meant to fold up in itself and fit on a wagon for a military campaign. The way you did the sides on the vanity is very much like how a collapsible book shelf was made.
This sounds like such a good idea. Have to figure that Cl3v3r has already got portable pantry and cooler, now he has a sink with running water, and both fold up tight for storage....maybe the next major project is a proper wagon....?
Only change I would make is coat the whole thing with some waterproof/water resistant topcoat. The top/outside because that's where the sink is, the inside because that's the location of the water, and the bottom in case of a spill/that's the contact point to the ground and any spill

You always make me want to build stuff I will never use lol. I love your energy and how well you explain what you do. I feel like I could actually replicate the builds you do. Thank you for entertaining my broken brain for a while.
I have an uncle who made something very similar to this back in the 80s. He actually had an antique hand-pumped faucet, which was the inspiration for the whole thing. His was yellow and sat atop a short chest-of-drawers. He kept the setup in a small utility trailer that he towed behind their station wagon on the annual camping trip along with the other camping supplies, including a large 7x21 foot, three-room tent for him, my aunt and their kids. They would sometimes use the getup to travel long distance for volunteer work. They could literally pull to the side of the road pop up this, pull out the cooler, and set up the camp stove in less than five minutes. Cook dinner and pack it all back up and be gone from the spot all in under half an hour, just eating and sleeping in the car. Raise a glass to the Gypsy Life.
Yuss! This is very much my thing! Folding items, multi purpose use, secret passage stuff, anything in that general vein tickles my brain in the same way and makes me happy. Thank you, love it!
You should make something medieval looking, like a lockbox or chest, to store your phones for LARP. You could also make it functional with some sort of hidden solar or battery powered charging port.
Impressive build! One possible mod would be to move the faucet to the corner (probably need to make a new top), so it doesn't obscure your nice mirror. For non-LARP use, add more drain tube, and simply dig a grease trap. The ground soil should be more than capable of wicking away such small amounts of water. I would also add a more secure way to lock the mirror in its upper position. The coloring and detail is phenomenal, though :)
Going to suggest a spell of magnetic latching so the doors don't flop open and gore someone or slap them. Stile framing was the right choice for medieval. Mitered framing is Early Modern. Super job of it!
I've got a "great" idea! You got a lot of terrific gear but it's got to be getting heavy. What about a peddler's cart with hidden electric motors? You wouldn't have to link the wheels to each other but put triggers in the left and right handle so they can spin independently at different speeds (for turning). Could partner with jackery or ecoflow! Other projects could be turning one of those green drop cords into a realistic-looking vine, you could do something with those light bulbs the act like a flame make a lantern. (Bulk equipment transportation and power station?)
I suggest the Chinese style wheelbarrow with the centered wheel. The user takes zero percent of the weight and only has to overcome friction and inertia.
My one critique is that you have to sit or be on your knees to be able to use it. Otherwise you're really hunching over to use it and, as a tall person, that is really going to hurt your back in that long run. Like, it will be nice for a while, but eventually your goint to get sick of it and put in on something to increse the height to a more comforbale level.... Maybe your next project could be a trunk of drawers you put the vanity on top of. That way you could the vanity more convient to use and have a nice place to put your cloths/other gear at your home base. Just a thought.

I know that a foldable bookshelf is one of the pieces. Lost art press has a great little book on a bunch of various furniture pieces.
Chris Schwarz of LAP used to work at Popular Woodworking, and one of the projects he did was a folding campaign book shelf - the article may be a free download from Pop Wood or LAP. He also did a traveling campaign book case that opened into two fixed book shelves and stored the books inside rather than needing to be carried separately.
Might I recommend modifying your drainage so that it drains into a water filter (zero water filter probably?) which can drain back into your source water. The filters can be a bit costly but adding it should extend your available water availability when larping.
This thing is cool. Need some magnets on the doors to keep them closed as well as some pull handles. I would add a topper strip with maybe crown molding on it so there is a place to grap the mirror safely and securely. I would also use some push-button tabs near the bottom of the mirror for extra security. The sink top I would have had it fold down into the vanity and use a decorative knob that can be twisted with two bars that, when twisted, would slide into holes in the sides to hold it in place. You could use cable mounts to hold the bars in place so they slide into the correct place each time. It's more work, but fewer individual pieces to have to worry about. The mixing bowl is a great idea. Love the use of the battery-operated facet. I would use two folding water jugs, one for clean and one for blackwater. I would also add a fold down, bottom piece of wood just so the water jugs aren't sitting on the ground as well as giving it that much more stability.
The only thing I'd add is some magic (magnets) to keep the doors closed so they don't flop about while moving it. Or if not magnets, a hook and clasp, or something. Otherwise, awesome, awesome work.
You can extend the screw mounting on the knobs thru the door, place a thin washer against the door, a spacer then place a 'spinner' sandwiched between two nuts so it just clears the inside of the frame. Put a small stop block inside the center stile for the spinner to rest against when the door is closed. Better hardware stores sell extra long threaded screw mounts so you can put knobs on thick doors, or just buy some threaded rod the right size to fit the knob at the same time you buy the extra nuts. You can thank the Shakers for the design idea for the inside spinner.

That is awesome!!!! Such a great mix of super simple rustic and modern amenities that we hate to go without. One thing that I’m not sure about is the mirror. I feel like a highly polished sheet of metal, such as aluminum or even carefully laid out tinfoil could work just as well while being less breakable. The glass causes me concern, I’d rather be able to just toss it around and never have to worry. Still, this is beautiful. I demand that we receive stories about how your fellow LARPers react when they visit your tent come the day
Great build. Would have thought you'd use some sort of locking mechanism to prevent it from popping up while carrying, or at least give some resistance to the doors. But I suppose a belt would do for carrying. For ease of storaway I'd also use leather strips rather than knob grips, so it can lay flat and doesn't catch on to anything in your trunk. But wouldn't look as classy as yours. Color me impressed with several layers for depth.
I have zero use for most of the builds on this channel and just watch for entertainment and to add a few little items to the mental tool box here and there, but this one I am trying really hard to find some use to justify spending money to build it! Perhaps I will build one for my grill and instead of a mirror I can use a peg board to hang my grilling utensils on. That way I can have running water in a sink when I am cooking outdoors.
@@karladenton5034If you stop to think about it is it really grilling out if you have to go inside to get to your sink? And as you stated, sticky hands on the door knob. Those two combined sound like the perfect excuse to go for it!
Nice work! A foldable 5 gallon water bag would also fold flat and store water. As long as you're not drinking the sink water. It'll taste like plastic.
Turned out well! I do have a gripe that the water pump should have been in the corner and the sink centered, but that means you have less usable counter top area.
If you add a small bevel on the outer edges of the blocks under the sink panel it'll open up the sides when you're placing it in the frame without having to adjust with your hands. Awesome build
Here is an idea for you that I think might be useful for your Larps: a collapsible wagon. You can find them at sporting goods stores, but they don’t fit the aesthetic with the big plastic wheels and such, but taking the idea and finding a way to remake it using aesthetics more appropriate would be nice. And I’m sure you can add extra features so it isn’t useful just for getting your stuff to your camp site. Just one big piece of advice: big, thick wheels. You are going over rough terrain and the more surface area your wheels have, the easier they will be to get over rough and soft ground. I got a collapsible wagon (got it for doing Instacart, but it is just generally useful including cleaning up the yard after a hurricane) and the big wheels really help it be useful in all sorts of situations. Including going up steps. Can’t go up stairs, but two or three steps is surmountable with my wagon.
That is a piece of really well done engineering sir! When you first showed the image that Madi drew, it was almost like she was trying to troll you into making something that just wasn't going to work. But again her clever design became a beautiful finished piece! You two make a really great team. I'm glad you partnered up for this channel.
That’s an awesome build! Love the look and functionality. Well done! Though I have to say that I half expected you to say “my precious” there at one point. 😂
Mixing bowls rise in the center creating a ridge to stabilize themselves on surfaces. Otherwise your bowl would just roll over when placed on a table/counter. One solution I've seen for this is to place the drain offset and have the basin lean slightly toward that drain location. Love the build, did you think about putting the faucet on the other side of the counter top so it wouldn't interfere as much with the mirror?
Packable sinks have been around Reenacting in various forms for a few decades. Instead of a battery pump most use a rubber bulb pump intended for boat fuel lines fitted up in some sort of jig so you tread on a board which squeezes the bulb and pumps the water up into a curved pipe which then delivers the water over your hands. You should also be able to put a couple of battens (3/4" x 3/4" offcuts) inside the front and back to hold a bottom shelf, so your personal kit can be stored inside the 'spare' side and not be resting on the ground/mud. If you shop around you can get much nicer iron hinges for the exposed side hinges with butterfly or fleur de lys shapes - Lee Valley is one source, there are a few nice shops on Etsy too with an even bigger selection of fancy metal, just be sure to check ALL the Etsy vendors, some have ridiculously high prices while others like BackwoodsProvisions are much more reasonable.
You can buy vanity tents that are about the size of a shower stall. I have one. I mean you can. I'm not telling you to. But they're there if you want one.
Would add brass handles to the sides of the back for carrying ease and it would be a place to put a towel or face cloth. Plus a spot for a straight razor strop.
I don’t think you know how many times I have watched this video!!! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤ I plan to make this, a toilet, and a shower for my family when we go camping. I’ve also watched all of your tent ⛺️ making videos. I’ve started on a tent mansion for my family! I’m using two 10x30 party tent frames and I plan to make all of the panels out of 10oz canvas. I’ll waterproof it and fireproof it. I appreciate your larp/ mid evil aesthetic… mine will be more of a safari tent. So thank you all so much for all of your work.
C3v3r and Maddie, this is genuinely amazing! One of my friends in his the throws of renovating a trailer for his mom, and he's in love with this concept!
I have a project request! I go to sca event and often camp for days. After a full day of fighting, dancing, walking, and just existing in all the dirt, I would give anything for a hot bath! Do you think you could come up with a camp bathtub? Something that collapses for travel? A way to soak aching muscles and wash away the dirt of battle?! Mr. Bubbles has lite the beacons, bathers call for aid!!!
Built a portable sink for camping. Plan on a gallon of water per person per day beyond drinking. I used 2 8 gallon jugs behind the sink with the pump under the sink and switch on the side. Faucet was a chrome toilet feed line bent into a right angled U. It slides down onto counter top for storage and pulls up to fill tall pots.
I use Factor. The meals are excellent and quick. Quality is insanely better than supermarket frozen meals. This vanity is so AWESOME! Can't wait to see what you do next....
You absolutely deserve that bragging rights. This sounded so complicated. In the beginning of this video I was thinking maybe I should just go watch another video but this project looked easy n simple enough even a fool like me could do it.
We are planning to turn my husband’s cargo trailer into a Chuckwagon for camping trips. But what to do with the counter and sink and cooktop when he is using it for work? Fold them away into the shed! Thanks Cl3ver, this will help storing and make everything easier to install, too!
To add to the armor stand suggestion, a roll up weapon rack could look pretty rad. Maybe an A frame for the legs of the rack that could collapse and be rolled up into the weapon mounts in the middle. Weapons mounts made of possibly custom little clamps using worm gears and threaded bolts for changing weapon sizes with a set up top for the hilt and a set below for the points or handles if its an axe, both attached together via leather straps. All held by guiding poles slipped through the leather in the back to keep them straight while also adding stability to the frame from being knocked over from a side bump . The straps used to wrap around the frame in a little bundle when not in use. (dont have the time now, but I figure ill leave my plan somewhere I can find later just incase I want to try this)
I dont have a workshop or any tools or any materials i just love watching your videos because they speak to my inner geek and your energy is infectious dont ever change clever i always find its a good day when you upload a video
I am in the process of making a portable Nipa Hut (Filipino bamboo house) converted from a pop up shade... I have a fridge, folding table, and now a vanity for myself and any guests to use while we travel... all courtesy of your inspiration. The big rule I cannot break in all this: ALL must fit in the trunk of a compact sedan. Thank you for all your inspirational work.
I know it is a little late but adding magnets or something of that nature to hold the doors closed would be a good addition to it. I noticed you had problems with the doors opening when you folded and unfolded the vanity. That being said awesome project.
I've been looking for a craig jig for years, but couldn't figure out what they were called, and nobody at my local hardware store knew what I was talking about when I described it. Now I have a name to drop, thank you!
Might could use magnets imbedded in the wood to hold it closed while moving it from car to tent... maybe nice aged brass latches would look better. Definitely needs latches to hold the doors closed though. Any tilt in the ground it sits on and the doors will fall open. Other than that, this was a killer project. Loved the faux antique paint job.
several months after the build but you could get two of the collapsible water containers and have them attached to dispense/collection. also an additional drainage option could be long hose to the outside or even have a small spade and make a small hole to drain into.
This is very cool and I'm going to adapt it to my camper van set up. A few ideas to "improve" it (imo) would be to use collapsible bowl and water containers so it will all store inside itself.
This is so amazing! I want to make this! I would love this. I would modify mine so it used a collapsible washing sink basin, water storage and fabric strap handles because of travel. So flipping cool!
I love this and will probably do something simialr some day. I'd add a leather strap or cord that ties around the nobs so the cabinet doors don't open, and mayby some kind of leather straps or a belt that goes around it to keep it all closed when its folded up. Beyond that maybe some runic or magic looking hand painting on the faucet to make it look a little more magical (it is a weird thing that just summons water, in game terms, after all).
Pocket Hole jigs are *AMAZING* for woodworking! I have the Harbor Freight brand jig and I've used it constantly when woodworking! Highly recommend; and don't worry about branding; they're all fabulous!
I would attach a closure of some kind to keep it from opening up when you don't want it to, like going from one place to another, like your moving the campsite because of the battle getting closer or farther away
Y'know what I like about you, Cl3ver? Well, I'm not sure I have the character limit to let me count the ways, but if you showed me something like this at a market I'd be like, "Dang that's neat, I can't imagine how difficult that was to construct!" but watching you enthusiastically and experimentally put things together makes it so achievable. LIke, well obviously, put that thing on that thing, and of course it's going to be the perfect size because they're the same thing. It's just cutting things out! And sticking them together! The hard part is sitting down and giving it a go, and not worrying too much if it doesn't work at the end. Cuz maybe it will! And you'll wind up with _this_ absolutely delightful construct! Great design work Kit and Maddi, always a joy to sit back with a tankard of the Emerald Isle's finest brown and watch something new come to life.
You totally blew my mind with this project! You've inspired me to put this into my tiny home bus build! Thank you so much. Love your channel and your thought process!!!
A "pocket hole jig" as i have come to call this device helping you make the pocket holes is realy useful. Have one myself, gives a pretty neat, and if well planed, strong bond between the planks
An alternative to pocket hole jig since we are referring to larp friendly woodworking would be a dowel jig. Just as sturdy joinery that is beginner friendly without having exposed hardware.

fantastic project, maybe you should add some leather strip or some twine to hold in place the doors when the vanity is close
Gotta say, when you fold that cabinet closed together at around 11:50, that is SUCH a satisfying clip.
LOVE these functional larp camping furniture vids that make camping so much more pleasant while still fitting in theme.
You've got your bag of holding, and now your vanity of folding. Which is good, because if you failed you'd have a Maddy of scolding!
I was just thinking this! but my grill is like a door and five steps from the actual kitchen sink. But still - door knob and sticky hands.........
"complex geometry of wingin' it" Love your enthusiasm and your surprise that it works feeds my crafty brain. Thank you!
Your crafts, the folding bed and this, basically turn your tent from Larp camping, to larp Glamping.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who thought of those things.
Welp, time to add ANOTHER project to my LARP project list. Spectacular idea, Cl3ver!
Having brushed my teeth in campground comfort stations and just in the grass, I appreciate this.
Love this! I want to scale it up a bit to make a folding shower cubicle for camping.
I was thinking the exact same thing!
You can buy vanity tents that are about the size of a shower stall. I have one. I mean you can. I'm not telling you to. But they're there if you want one.
@Alacritous it's finding one that looks right and would fit in my tent 👍
I not going to make half of the things but i love watching things being made you videos are amazing keep it up
Thank you! Glad you like the show!
Would add brass handles to the sides of the back for carrying ease and it would be a place to put a towel or face cloth. Plus a spot for a straight razor strop.
My dude made a functional pop-up book sink.
This is actually really well designed. Nice job.
C3v3r and Maddie, this is genuinely amazing! One of my friends in his the throws of renovating a trailer for his mom, and he's in love with this concept!
Even before I saw the discord notif.
Watching that thing fold up is so satisfying. Nicely done!
the more you build the better you get, it is amazing. and a hell of an idea for van dwellers, tiny homes ect.
Jaw-dropping just from the thumbnail!
Thank you!
This could be pretty handy for all those camper van life folks wanting space but also amenities
(dont have the time now, but I figure ill leave my plan somewhere I can find later just incase I want to try this)
Wonder if youll eventually need a collapsible wooden cart to haul everything over to your site in medieval style for one quick trip from the car.
Now we just need a way to attatch the vanity to the cooler and the luxury on the go kit is complete!
I dont have a workshop or any tools or any materials i just love watching your videos because they speak to my inner geek and your energy is infectious dont ever change clever i always find its a good day when you upload a video
Wow... is there like... a schematics drawing of this? so we can make one at home? like an itemized list of the wood sizing and hinges sizes etc?
Honestly full schematics would be Patreon-worthy content
I am in the process of making a portable Nipa Hut (Filipino bamboo house) converted from a pop up shade... I have a fridge, folding table, and now a vanity for myself and any guests to use while we travel... all courtesy of your inspiration. The big rule I cannot break in all this: ALL must fit in the trunk of a compact sedan.
Thank you for all your inspirational work.
Every item your hands touch comes out gorgeous, but this one is especially impressive
Gotta say, That thing rocks! Maybe build A stool/ottoman thingy to store the sink and plumbing
Thought for you. A magnet would help keep the doors closed. Easy enough to counter sink one and glue a thin plate of metal on to the frame.
several months after the build but you could get two of the collapsible water containers and have them attached to dispense/collection. also an additional drainage option could be long hose to the outside or even have a small spade and make a small hole to drain into.
love how you have a different snazzy cup in every video
That's so cool! Super well made! This thing needs some decorative edge carvings tho! So you can paint those gold as well 😆
Pocket Hole jigs are *AMAZING* for woodworking! I have the Harbor Freight brand jig and I've used it constantly when woodworking! Highly recommend; and don't worry about branding; they're all fabulous!
Kinda wish the sink doubled as a helmet😀
Great build!
As I started the video, i was thinking you would love pocket hole jigs.... happy to see you have
I would attach a closure of some kind to keep it from opening up when you don't want it to, like going from one place to another, like your moving the campsite because of the battle getting closer or farther away
Modernized campaign furniture! I be love it.
A rubber collapsible bowl could be used for the sink and store inside the box.
Love this! I've been working on an idea for folding camp/larp furniture, and now totally inspired to just go for it! Thanks!
Currently in process of building a portable kitchen sink and this is inspiring
You totally blew my mind with this project! You've inspired me to put this into my tiny home bus build! Thank you so much. Love your channel and your thought process!!!
A "pocket hole jig" as i have come to call this device helping you make the pocket holes is realy useful. Have one myself, gives a pretty neat, and if well planed, strong bond between the planks
An alternative to pocket hole jig since we are referring to larp friendly woodworking would be a dowel jig. Just as sturdy joinery that is beginner friendly without having exposed hardware.
